Detecting Condition No. 1

  1. Engine coolant temperature is below 203°F (95°C).
  2. A/C switch is turned ON.
  3. Vehicle coolant below 12 MPH (19 km/h).

Detecting Condition No. 2

  1. Engine coolant temperature is above 212°F (100°C).
  2. A/C switch is turned OFF.
  3. Vehicle speed is below 12 MPH (19 km/h).

Removal & Installation

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  2. Lift-up the vehicle.
  3. Remove the under cover.
  4. Remove the radiator under cover (A/T vehicle only). (Scheme 19)
  5. Disconnect the connector of main fan motor (A). (Scheme 20)
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Remove the air intake duct. (Turbo model). (Scheme 21)
  8. Disconnect the over flow hose. (Scheme 22)
  9. Remove the over flow pipe. (Turbo model)
  10. Remove the reservoir tank. (Scheme 23)
  11. Remove the radiator main fan motor assembly. (Scheme 24)
  12. Install in the reverse order of removal. (Scheme 24)and (Scheme 23).

Disassembly & Assembly

  1. Remove the clip which holds motor connector onto the shroud. (Scheme 25)
  2. Remove the nut which holds fan itself onto the fan motor and shroud assembly. (Scheme 26)
  3. Remove the bolts which install fan motor onto the shroud. (Scheme 28)
  4. Assemble in the reverse order of disassembly. (Scheme 28)and (Scheme 26).

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  2. Lift-up the vehicle.
  3. Remove the under cover.
  4. Remove the radiator under cover.
  5. Disconnect the connector of sub fan motor. (Scheme 29)
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Remove the air intake duct (Turbo model). (Scheme 21)
  8. Remove the bolts which hold sub fan shroud to the radiator.
  9. Remove the over flow pipe (Turbo model).
  10. Remove the radiator sub fan shroud through the under side of vehicle. (Scheme 24)
  11. Install in the reverse order of removal. (Scheme 24)

  1. Remove clip which holds motor harness onto shroud. (Scheme 25)
  2. Remove nut which install fan itself onto fan motor and shroud assembly. (Scheme 27)
  3. Remove bolts which install fan motor onto shroud. (Scheme 28)
  4. Installation is in the reverse order of removal. (Scheme 28)and (Scheme 27).
