INSTALLATION
Install in the reverse order of removal.

- Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
- Remove the lower cover.
- Remove the knee bolster.
- Disconnect the connector from integrated module.
- Remove the integrated module.

- Set the vehicle on a lift.
- Remove the gear shift knob.
- Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
- Remove the console box. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-200811-S25353844162005102300000) , Console Box.
- Remove the clamp.
- Remove the boot and insulator assembly.
- Remove the plate COMPL from body.
- Lift-up the vehicle.
- Remove the rear exhaust pipe and muffler. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-200789-S21679616402005102300000) , Rear Exhaust Pipe and «REMOVAL»(ref-200789-S31333937342005102300000) , Muffler.
- Remove the heat shield cover.
- Remove the stay from transmission bracket.
- Remove the rod from joint.
- Remove the cushion rubber from body.
- Remove the spring pin, and then extract the joint.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the gear shift lever.

- Install the joint to transmission and secure with the spring pin.
- Insert the gear shift lever from room side. NOTE: After inserting the rod and stay, temporarily put them onto transmission mount.
- Lift-up the vehicle.
- Install the joint to shifter arm.
- Insert the spring pin.
- Mount the cushion rubber on the body. Tightening torque: 18 N.m (1.8 kgf-m, 13.0 ft-lb)
- Connect the rod to the joint. Tightening torque: 18 N.m (1.8 kgf-m, 13.0 ft-lb)
- Connect the stay to transmission bracket. Tightening torque: 18 N.m (1.8 kgf-m, 13.0 ft-lb)
- Install the heat shield cover. (If equipped)
- Install the rear exhaust pipe and muffler. Refer to «INSTALLATION»(ref-200789-S01457167832005102300000) , Rear Exhaust Pipe and «INSTALLATION»(ref-200789-S41832764532005102300000) , Muffler.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the plate COMPL to body. Tightening torque: 7.5 N.m (0.76 kgf-m, 5.5 ft-lb)
- Install the boot and insulator assembly to vehicle in proper direction.
- Install the clamp.
- Install the console box. Refer to «INSTALLATION»(ref-200811-S00468682132005102300000) , Console Box.

- Disassemble the lock wire.
- Remove the rod from lever.
- Remove the snap ring from bush B, and then disconnect the stay.
- Remove the boot from gear shift lever.
- Remove the bush and cushion rubber from stay.
- Remove the O-ring, and then disconnect the bush B.
- Draw out the spring pin, and then remove the bush A from gear shift lever.

- Clean all parts before assembly.
- Mount the bush and cushion rubber on the stay.
- Mount each part; boot, O-ring, bush A, spacer, bush B, bush and spring pin on the gear shift lever. NOTE: Always use new O-rings. Apply grease [SUNLIGHT 2 (Part No.003602010) or equivalent] to the inner and side surfaces of the bush when installing the spacer.
- Insert the gear shift lever into boot hole.
- Install the snap ring and stay to bush B.
- Tighten with a new lock wire to the extent that the boot will not come off.
- Insert the rod into boot hole.
- Connect the rod to gear shift lever. Tightening torque: 11.8 N.m (1.2 kgf-m, 8.7 ft-lb)
- Check the swing torque of the rod in relation to gear shift lever.
- Check that there is no excessive play and that parts move smoothly.

- Check each part (bush, cushion rubber, spacer, boot, stay and rod, etc.) for deformation, damage and wear. Repair or replace any defective part. Determine defective parts by comparing with new parts.
- Check the swing torque of the rod in relation of gear shift lever. If the torque exceeds specification, replace the bush or retighten nuts. Swing torque: 3.7 N (0.38 kgf, 2.7 ft) or less
