Work Support
- When replacing the main body ECM (Network gateway computer) For models without smart entry & start system, prepare all the registered keys. Use the SSM3 and carry out the following procedure. Connect the SSM3 to the DLC3. On the [Main Menu] screen, select [Each System Check]. On the [System Selection Menu] screen, select [Integ. unit mode]. Click the [OK] button after the control name (integrated unit) is displayed. On the [Integ. unit mode failure diag.] screen, select [Work Support]. On the [Work Support] screen, select [ECM Replacement]. Select [Destination / Reading of function setting] and follow the display screen instructions. NOTE: Keep a record of any customize registration content that is displayed during this process. If an ECM replacement instruction is displayed, click the [OK] button. Replace the main body ECM (Network gateway computer). NOTE: If you replace the main body ECM (Network gateway computer) without carrying out the above SSM3 procedure, start again and follow the above procedure. Restart the whole procedure if you happen to make a mistake along the way.
- After replacing the main body ECM (Network gateway computer) Use the SSM3 and carry out the following procedure. Use the SSM3 and progress to the [Main Menu] screen to select [Each System Check]. On the [System Selection Menu] screen, select [Integ. unit mode]. Click the [OK] button after the control name (integrated unit) is displayed. On the [Integ. unit mode failure diag.] screen, select [Work Support]. On the [Work Support] screen, select [ECM Replacement]. Select [Destination / Writing of function setting] and follow the display screen instructions. NOTE: Check that the customize registration content that is displayed during this process is the same as what was recorded earlier. If a writing complete message is displayed, click the [OK] button to finish the procedure. NOTE: Restart the whole procedure if you happen to make a mistake along the way. If you wish to correct or modify any customize content, select from [Integ. unit mode failure diag.] to [Unit customizing] in the above procedure to set the registration content. For models without smart entry & start system, register the immobilizer. NOTE: For detailed operations, refer to the "Registration manual for immobilizer."
Customize Function
- Customize using the SSM3 The following procedure can be used to check or set customization. Connect the SSM3 to the DLC3 and turn the ignition to IG ON. On the [Main Menu] screen, select [Each System Check]. On the [System Selection Menu] screen, select [Integ. unit mode]. Click the [OK] button after the control name (integrated unit) is displayed. On the [Integ. unit mode failure diag.] screen, select [Unit customizing]. Use the up and down keys to select each item and apply customization settings. NOTE: The above settings are to be matched to particular vehicle equipment specifications. Do not change any other settings other than the above items when performing function configuration. Confirm that the main body ECM (Network gateway computer) registration content [Factory initial setting] is for the correct market. When it is in factory mode, this means that the settings have not been confirmed.

- Precautions Always carry out work support when replacing the main body ECM (Network gateway computer). (Refer to «WORK SUPPORT»(ref-619154-S24632178142014053000000) ) After turning the ignition switch to OFF, you may have to wait for a while before disconnecting the battery terminals. Check appropriate precautions for battery terminal disconnection before proceeding.
- Disconnection of the battery ground terminal (Refer to «WORKING PRECAUTIONS AND NOTES»(ref-619149-S01292846772014053000000) )
- Remove the instrument side panel LH (Refer to «DISASSEMBLY»(ref-619171-S26743264862014053000000) )
- Remove the instrument panel under cover sub-assembly No. 1. (Refer to «LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT»(ref-619166-S27825411132014053000000) )
- Remove the instrument panel junction block Assembly. Disconnect the two connectors from the power steering computer Assembly. Disconnect the six connectors on the front of the instrument panel junction block Assembly. Undo the bolt and nut and detach the instrument panel junction block Assembly. As shown in the diagram, unhook the tabs and disconnect the instrument panel junction block Assembly rear connector. As shown in the diagram, unhook the tabs and release the connector lock. As shown in the diagram, unhook the tabs and detach the connector. Remove the instrument panel junction block Assembly.
- Remove the main body ECM (Network gateway computer) Press the instrument panel junction block Assembly tab to release the main body ECM (Network gateway computer) lock. Once the lock is released, insert a flat tip screwdriver horizontally that has been wrapped in protective tape between the main body ECM (Network gateway computer) and the instrument panel junction block Assembly. CAUTION: Please use a flat tip screwdriver with a shaft diameter between 5.0 mm {0.197 in} and 6.3 mm {0.248 in}, and a length of 90mm {3.543 in} or more. As shown in the diagram, use the inserted flat tip screwdriver to lift up the main body ECM (Network gateway computer) until it is in a position where the connector can be moved. CAUTION: Do not use the flat tip screwdriver to lift it up with a prying action. Lift up the main body ECM (Network gateway computer) in the direction of arrow (1) in the diagram and slide it out in the direction of arrow (2). CAUTION: Do not touch the ECM connector.

- Precautions Always carry out work support when replacing the main body ECM (Network gateway computer). (Refer to «WORK SUPPORT»(ref-619154-S24632178142014053000000) )
- Install the main body ECM (Network gateway computer) As shown in the diagram, contact the main body ECM (Network gateway computer) to the instrument panel junction block Assembly housing side wall. CAUTION: Ensure that no foreign objects enter between mating parts. Do not touch the main body ECM (Network gateway computer) connector. NOTE: The angle between the instrument panel junction block Assembly and the main body ECM (Network gateway computer) should be 20° or more. As shown in the diagram, while keeping the main body ECM (Network gateway computer) flush against the instrument panel junction block Assembly housing side wall, slide it in the direction of the junction block fuse and insert it into the 2 guides. As shown in the diagram, rotate the main body ECM (Network gateway computer) while it is kept in contact with the junction block A face (center of rotation). CAUTION: Do not use excessive force when pressing the side of the main body ECM (Network gateway computer) into the instrument panel junction block Assembly. Press the push-area until the tab clicks into the lock to install the main body ECM (Network gateway computer). CAUTION: Do not press any place other than the push-area of the main body ECM (Network gateway computer). A locking sound should be heard when the main body ECM (Network gateway computer) is pressed in place. Do not hit or place heavy weights onto the main body ECM (Network gateway computer) when pressing it in place. NOTE: If you do not hear the locking sound, visually confirm that it is locked in place. Confirm that the main body ECM (Network gateway computer) and junction block are at the same height.
- Install the instrument panel junction block Assembly. As shown in the diagram, engage the tabs and connect the connector. CAUTION: Ensure that the connector is securely attached. As shown in the diagram, engage the tabs and close the connector lock. As shown in the diagram, engage the tabs and connect the connector. Install the instrument panel junction block Assembly and fasten the bolt and nut. Standard value: T=7.5N.m {77kgf.cm} {5.5 ft.lbf} Connect the six connectors on the front of the instrument panel junction block Assembly. Connect the two connectors to the power steering computer Assembly.
- Install the instrument panel under cover sub-assembly No. 1. (Refer to «INSTALLATION»(ref-619166-S34162213212014053000000) )
- Install the instrument side panel LH. (Refer to «INSTALLATION»(ref-619171-S13239309002014053000000) )
- Connection of the battery ground terminal Standard value: T=6.0N.m {61kgf.cm} {4.4 ft.lbf}
