REMOVAL

HINT

  1. Use the same procedure for both the RH and LH sides.
  2. The procedure described below is for the LH side.

  1. REMOVE FRONT DOOR ARMREST BASE UPPER PANEL HINT: Use the same procedure as for the RH side (see «DISASSEMBLY»(ref-289765-S39010926652008070700000) ).
  2. REMOVE FRONT DOOR LOWER FRAME BRACKET GARNISH HINT: Use the same procedure as for the RH side (see «DISASSEMBLY»(ref-289765-S39010926652008070700000) ).
  3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR INSIDE HANDLE BEZEL HINT: Use the same procedure as for the RH side (see «DISASSEMBLY»(ref-289765-S39010926652008070700000) ).
  4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR TRIM BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY HINT: Use the same procedure as for the RH side (see «DISASSEMBLY»(ref-289765-S39010926652008070700000) ).
  5. REMOVE OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY Remove the front door service hole cover as shown in the illustration. HINT: Remove the cover to the extent that the connector can be disconnected. Disconnect the connector. Disengage the 3 nuts. Remove the outer rear view mirror assembly.

  1. INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY LH Check the operation. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 3 (MV) and the negative (-) lead to terminal 7 (M+), then check that the mirror turns upward. OK: Turns upward If the result is not as specified, replace the outer rear view mirror. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 7 (M+) and the negative (-) lead to terminal 3 (MV), then check that the mirror turns downward. OK: Turns downward If the result is not as specified, replace the outer rear view mirror. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 6 (MH) and the negative (-) lead to terminal 7 (M+), then check that the mirror turns left. OK: Turns left If the result is not as specified, replace the outer rear view mirror. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 7 (M+) and the negative (-) lead to terminal 6 (MH), then check that the mirror turns right. OK: Turns right If the result is not as specified, replace the outer rear view mirror.
  2. INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY RH Check the operation. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 3 (MV) and the negative (-) lead to terminal 7 (M+), then check that the mirror turns upward. OK: Turns upward If the result is not as specified, replace the outer rear view mirror. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 7 (M+) and the negative (-) lead to terminal 3 (MV), then check that the mirror turns downward. OK: Turns downward If the result is not as specified, replace the outer rear view mirror. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 6 (MH) and the negative (-) lead to terminal 7 (M+), then check that the mirror turns left. OK: Turns left If the result is not as specified, replace the outer rear view mirror. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 7 (M+) and the negative (-) lead to terminal 6 (MH), then check that the mirror turns right. OK: Turns right If the result is not as specified, replace the outer rear view mirror.

  1. INSTALL OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY Install the outer rear view mirror assembly. Install the 3 nuts. Torque: 8.0 N*m (82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf) Connect the connector. Install the front door service hole cover. HINT: Make sure that cover is securely installed.
  2. INSTALL FRONT DOOR TRIM BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY HINT: Use the same procedure as for the RH side (see «REASSEMBLY»(ref-289765-S23354706802008070700000) ).
  3. INSTALL FRONT DOOR INSIDE HANDLE BEZEL HINT: Use the same procedure as for the RH side (see «REASSEMBLY»(ref-289765-S23354706802008070700000) ).
  4. INSTALL FRONT DOOR LOWER FRAME BRACKET GARNISH HINT: Use the same procedure as for the RH side (see «REASSEMBLY»(ref-289765-S23354706802008070700000) ).
  5. INSTALL FRONT DOOR ARMREST BASE UPPER PANEL HINT: Use the same procedure as for the RH side (see «REASSEMBLY»(ref-289765-S23354706802008070700000) ).

  1. REMOVE OUTER MIRROR GLASS Apply protective tape to the bottom of the visor of the door mirror. Push the upper part of the mirror surface and tilt it. Using a molding remover, disengage the 2 claws and 2 hooks.

Scheme 16: INSTALLATION
  1. INSTALL OUTER MIRROR GLASS Engage the 2 hooks on the upper part of the outer mirror glass to the outer rear view mirror. Engage the 2 claws on the lower part of the outer mirror glass to the outer rear view mirror.

  1. REMOVE OUTER MIRROR GLASS (See «REMOVAL»(ref-289778-S21094197012008070700000) )
  2. REMOVE OUTER MIRROR COVER Disengage the 7 claws and remove the outer mirror cover from the outer rear view mirror.

INSTALLATION

  1. INSTALL OUTER MIRROR COVER Engage the 7 claws to install the outer mirror cover onto the outer rear view mirror. HINT: Engage the claws in order to obtain a perfect fit.
  2. INSTALL OUTER MIRROR GLASS (See «INSTALLATION»(ref-289778-S06554018502008070700000) )

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL NOTE: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent the airbag working.

  1. INSPECT OUTER MIRROR SWITCH ASSEMBLY The L position of the left/right adjustment switch: Measure the resistance of the outer mirror switch assembly. Standard resistance (for left side) TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART (LEFT SIDE) Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition 4 (VL) - 8 (B) 6 (M+) - 7 (E) UP Below 1 ohms OFF 10 kohms or higher 4 (VL) - 7 (E) 6 (M+) - 8 (B) DOWN Below 1 ohms OFF 10 kohms or higher 5 (HL) - 8 (B) 6 (M+) - 7 (E) LEFT Below 1 ohms OFF 10 kohms or higher 5 (HL) - 7 (E) 6 (M+) - 8 (B) RIGHT Below 1 ohms OFF 10 kohms or higher If the result is not as specified, replace the outer mirror switch assembly. The R position of the left/right adjustment switch: Measure the resistance of the outer mirror switch assembly.   1. INSTALL OUTER MIRROR SWITCH ASSEMBLY Engage the 2 claws and install the outer mirror switch assembly.
