SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

  1. ILLUMINATION CONTROL SYSTEM (Illuminated Entry System) HINT: When inspecting the following functions, make sure that the map light and No. 1 room light switches are in the DOOR position. The illuminated entry system has the following control functions: Control Outline Lighting Actuation Area-linked*1 When a registered key is brought within any vehicle exterior detection area around the doors, the items listed to the right turn on. Engine switch illumination Map light assembly No. 1 room light assembly Door Lock/Unlock-linked When any door is unlocked, the items listed to the right turn on. Engine switch illumination*1 Map light assembly No. 1 room light assembly When all doors are locked, the items listed to the right turn off. Door Open/Close-linked When any door is opened, the items listed to the right turn on. Engine switch illumination*1 Map light assembly No. 1 room light assembly When all doors are closed, the items listed to the right turn off. Engine Switch-linked*1 Ignition Switch-linked*2 When the ignition switch is turned from ACC or ON to off, the items listed to the right turn on. Engine switch illumination*1 Map light assembly No. 1 room light assembly Battery Saving When the doors remain in the same condition for 20 minutes and the key is outside the vehicle exterior detection area, the items listed to the right turn off.*1 When the doors remain in the same condition for 20 minutes and the key is not in the ignition key cylinder, the items listed to the right turn off.*2 Engine switch illumination*1 Map light assembly No. 1 room light assembly *1: w/ Smart Key System *2: w/o Smart Key System

OPERATION CHECK

  1. INSPECT ILLUMINATED ENTRY SYSTEM OPERATION NOTE: Perform this inspection with the customizable parameters set to the initial settings. HINT: When inspecting the following functions, make sure that the map light and No. 1 room light switches are in the DOOR position. The illuminated entry system illuminates the items below. Engine switch illumination*1 Map light assembly No. 1 room light assembly The operation and operating conditions of this system are described below. Operation Condition Lights fade in and illuminate constantly Any door is opened when all the doors are closed. Lights illuminate for 15 seconds, and then fade out When any of the following conditions is met: The key is brought within any vehicle exterior detection area when the ignition switch is off and all the doors are closed.*1 Any door is unlocked when the ignition switch is off and all the doors are closed and locked. The ignition switch is turned from ACC to off when all doors are closed. All the doors are closed when one or more doors are open and the ignition switch is off. Lights fade out immediately When either of the following conditions is met: The ignition switch is turned from off to ACC when all the doors are closed. All the doors are locked when the ignition switch is off, all the doors are closed and any door is unlocked. Battery saving The doors remain in the same condition for 20 minutes and the key is outside the vehicle exterior detection area.*1 The doors remain in the same condition for 20 minutes and the key is not inserted into the ignition key cylinder.*2 *1: w/ Smart Key System *2: w/o Smart Key System

DESCRIPTION

This circuit detects whether the ignition switch is ON or off, and sends this information to the main body ECU.

  2. INSPECT FRONT DOOR COURTESY LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY Remove the front door courtesy light switch assembly. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-451250-S31851034522012020700000). Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Resistance Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition 1 - Switch body Pin not pushed Below 1 ohms Pin pushed 10 kohms or higher NG --> See step 6 OK: Go to next step
  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY - FRONT DOOR COURTESY LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY) *1: for LH *2: for RH Disconnect the 2A*1 or 2D*2 instrument panel junction block connector. Disconnect the H1*1 or J1*2 front door courtesy light switch connector. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Resistance for LH for RH Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 2A-4 - H1-1 Always Below 1 ohms 2A-4 - Body ground Always 10 kohms or higher Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 2D-52 - J1-1 Always Below 1 ohms 2D-52 - Body ground Always 10 kohms or higher NG --> REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR OK: Go to next step
  4. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY Remove the instrument panel junction block assembly. Refer to «REMOVAL»(/scion/tc/ii-2010-2013/remont/body-electrical/#power-distribution-service-information) . Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Resistance for LH for RH Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition A-2 (FLCY) - 2A-4 Always Below 1 ohms Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition A-4 (FRCY) - 2D-52 Always Below 1 ohms NG --> See step 7 OK --> See step 5
  5. REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU). Refer to «REMOVAL»(/scion/tc/ii-2010-2013/remont/body-electrical/#power-distribution-service-information)
  6. REPLACE FRONT DOOR COURTESY LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-451250-S31851034522012020700000)
  7. REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY. Refer to «REMOVAL»(/scion/tc/ii-2010-2013/remont/body-electrical/#power-distribution-service-information)
  8. PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to «PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE»(ref-451057-S29808887602012020700000)

The main body ECU receives a back door open or closed signal from the back door courtesy switch.

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (ENGINE SWITCH ILLUMINATION) Using the Techstream, perform the Active Test. Refer to «DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST»(ref-451057-S26107543432012020700000). SMART KEY Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note Power/Engine SW Light Engine switch illumination ON/OFF - OK Engine switch illumination illuminates.   2. INSPECT ENGINE SWITCH Remove the engine switch. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-451175-S40950436692012020700000). Connect a positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 11 (SWIL) and a negative (-) lead to terminal 5 (GND). Check that the engine switch illumination illuminates. OK Engine switch illumination illuminates. NG --> See step 4 OK: Go to next step
  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE SWITCH - CERTIFICATION ECU AND BODY GROUND) Disconnect the C35 certification ECU connector. Disconnect the C15 engine switch connector. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
