TPMS RESET - PROCEDURE 1

Note. Initialization is NOT required if re-inflating tires to the currently specified tire pressure.

Note. This system requires initializing if tire pressure warning light is blinking twice every second, after changing tires or wheels, or after rotating the tires.

Note. Be sure to adjust the tire pressure to specification before initialization.

1. Park the vehicle in a safe place with the parking brake applied. Check and adjust the tire pressure to specification (see placard on driver's door pillar).
2. With vehicle stopped, turn ignition switch to ON position. NOTE: If the tire pressure warning light comes on, push the reset switch for a few seconds and make sure the warning light goes off.
3. Press and hold the tire pressure warning reset switch until the tire pressure warning light blinks 3 times at one-second intervals. (Scheme 1) NOTE: If reset switch is pushed without adjusting the tire inflation pressure to the specified level, the low tire pressure warning may not turn on even if the tire inflation is low, or it may turn on when the tire inflation pressure is actually normal. If reset switch is pushed while driving, initialization is not performed. NOTE: If the tire pressure warning light does not blink 3 times, perform the initialization again. If warning light still does not blink as specified, refer to appropriate manufacturer service information.
4. Initialization is completed after vehicle is driven for more than one hour under the following conditions: The vehicle speed is between 31-62 mph (50-100 km/h). The roads are dry, smooth and straight. The number of passengers is 1 or 2 (including driver). NOTE: If tire pressure warning light blinks twice every second while driving, perform the initialization again.
5. To verify that the system has been initialized, check the length of time that the warning light is on after turning the ignition switch to the ON position. If system is initialized, light should stay on for 3 seconds. If light stays on for 4 seconds, perform the initialization again.

Note. Initialization is NOT required if re-inflating tires to the currently specified tire pressure.

Note. Registration of the tire pressure sensor IDs is accomplished using either an Intelligent Tester , or Techstream scan tool. Initialization of the TPM system does not REQUIRE the use of a scan tool, but a scan tool can be used to verify that the correct tire pressures have been input into the system ECU.

Note. When a tire, wheel, tire pressure sensor, or TPMS ECU are replaced, sensor IDs needs to be registered in the ECU.

Tire Pressure Sensor Registration

Note. Set the pressure of all tires to the pressure specified on the tire and loading information label.

Note. The transmitter ID is written on the tire pressure sensor. It is not possible to determine a sensor's ID after installing the tire onto the wheel. Therefore, make a note of the ID before installing the tire. If replacing an ECU, read the registered sensor IDs that are stored in the old ECU, using the Techstream, and note them down

1. Turn the ignition switch off.
2. Connect the Techstream to DLC3.
3. Turn the ignition switch on and Techstream on.
4. Enter the menu items in this order: Chassis / Tire Pressure Monitor / Utility / ID Registration.
5. Perform the procedures displayed on the screen.

Note. If the ID registration step is not completed within 300 seconds, ID registration will be canceled.

Confirmation Of ID Registration

1. On the Techstream, enter the menu items in this order: Chassis / Tire Pressure Monitor / Data List.
2. Read the "ID Tire Inflation Pressure" values.
3. Confirm accurately registered tire pressures for all tires (except spare tire). If all values are correctly displayed, registration was completed successfully.

Note. It may take up to a few minutes to update the tire pressure data. If the values are not displayed after a few minutes, perform troubleshooting according to the inspection procedure for DTCs C2121 to C2124. If the IDs have not been registered, DTC C2171 is stored in the door control receiver after 3 minutes or more. If the tire pressure values are not displayed after a few minutes, the IDs may be incorrect or the system may have a malfunction. After all IDs are registered, DTC C2126 is stored in the door control receiver and the tire pressure warning light blinks for 1 minute and then illuminates. When the door control receiver successfully receives signals from all the transmitters whose IDs are stored in the ECU, DTC C2126 is cleared and the tire pressure warning light goes off.
