Mirrors - Power: Other Saturn SL II

POWER MIRROR INOPERATIVE

1. Check BODY fuse (10-amp) in instrument panel junction block. Check IP BATT fuse (30-amp) in underhood junction block.
2. Check circuit No. 402 (Red wire) between underhood junction block and instrument panel junction block, and circuit No. 340C (Orange wire) between instrument panel junction block and mirror switch for shorts or opens. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-996-S34958266422000031300000) .
3. Check mirror switch ground circuit No. 550F (Black wire) for continuity to ground. Check circuits No. 82 (Light Blue wire) and No. 89 (Light Green wire) between mirror switch and mirror motors for shorts or open. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-996-S34958266422000031300000) .
4. Check mirror switch. See «POWER MIRROR SWITCH INOPERATIVE»(ref-996-S19299416272000031300000) under SYMPTOM TESTS. Check mirror motor. See «POWER MIRROR MOTOR INOPERATIVE»(ref-996-S08152035092000031300000) under SYMPTOM TESTS.

POWER MIRROR STUCK

Check for mechanical binding in mirror assembly. Check mirror switch. See POWER MIRROR SWITCH INOPERATIVE under SYMPTOM TESTS. Check mirror motor. See POWER MIRROR MOTOR INOPERATIVE under SYMPTOM TESTS.

POWER MIRROR OPERATES UP ONLY

Check mirror switch. See POWER MIRROR SWITCH INOPERATIVE under SYMPTOM TESTS. Check mirror motor. See POWER MIRROR MOTOR INOPERATIVE under SYMPTOM TESTS. Check circuit No. 89 (Light Green wire) between mirror motor and mirror switch for shorts or opens. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .

POWER MIRROR OPERATES DOWN ONLY

Check mirror switch. See POWER MIRROR SWITCH INOPERATIVE under SYMPTOM TESTS. Check mirror motor. See POWER MIRROR MOTOR INOPERATIVE under SYMPTOM TESTS. Check circuit No. 82 (Light Blue wire) between mirror motor and mirror switch for shorts or opens. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .

POWER MIRROR OPERATES LEFT ONLY

Check mirror switch. See POWER MIRROR SWITCH INOPERATIVE under SYMPTOM TESTS. Check mirror motor. See POWER MIRROR MOTOR INOPERATIVE under SYMPTOM TESTS. Check circuit No. 81 (White wire) between mirror motor and mirror switch for shorts or opens. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .

POWER MIRROR OPERATES RIGHT ONLY

Check mirror switch. See POWER MIRROR SWITCH INOPERATIVE under SYMPTOM TESTS. Check mirror motor. See POWER MIRROR MOTOR INOPERATIVE under SYMPTOM TESTS. Check circuit No. 82 (Light Blue wire) between mirror motor and mirror switch for shorts or opens. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .

POWER MIRROR DOES NOT OPERATE UP/DOWN

Check mirror switch. See POWER MIRROR SWITCH INOPERATIVE under SYMPTOM TESTS. Check mirror motor. See POWER MIRROR MOTOR INOPERATIVE under SYMPTOM TESTS. Check circuit No. 89 (Light Green wire) for short or open. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .

POWER MIRROR DOES NOT OPERATE LEFT/RIGHT

Check mirror switch. See POWER MIRROR SWITCH INOPERATIVE under SYMPTOM TESTS. Check mirror motor. See POWER MIRROR MOTOR INOPERATIVE under SYMPTOM TESTS. Check circuit No. 81 (White wire) between mirror motor and mirror switch for short or open. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .

POWER MIRROR MOTOR INOPERATIVE

1. Ensure motor connections are clean and tight. Check Light Green, Light Blue and White wires to motor for shorts or opens. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-996-S34958266422000031300000) . Repair or replace as necessary. Check power mirror switch. See «POWER MIRROR SWITCH INOPERATIVE»(ref-996-S19299416272000031300000) .
2. Check for mechanical binding in mirror assembly, and repair as necessary. If motor still does not function properly, replace power mirror motor. See «POWER MIRROR MOTOR»(ref-996-S16918722502000031300000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.

POWER MIRROR SWITCH INOPERATIVE

Remove power mirror switch. See POWER MIRROR SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance and continuity between appropriate power mirror switch terminals. (Scheme 4) See POWER MIRROR SWITCH RESISTANCE and POWER MIRROR SWITCH CONTINUITY tables. If resistance and continuity are not as specified, replace power mirror switch.
