SERVICE ENGINE SOON WARNING LIGHT
Light illuminates briefly as a system check with ignition switch in ON position and goes out after engine is started. If light comes on during vehicle operation, it indicates that the computerized fuel system, ignition system or emission control system requires servicing.
BATTERY (GENERATOR) WARNING LIGHT
Light is shown as a battery symbol on the instrument cluster. Light should illuminate briefly with ignition switch in ON or START position; it should go out when the engine starts and alternator begins to charge. If light stays on or comes on with engine running, battery is not being charged, and electrical system needs to be serviced.
ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE GAUGE
Gauge should register within the NORMAL band under normal operating conditions. If gauge pointer rises into the HOT band, stop vehicle, and turn off engine. Allow engine to cool, and then check coolant level.
HIGH ENGINE COOLANT OR AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE TEMP WARNING LIGHT
Light indicates that engine coolant or automatic transaxle fluid has overheated, or that radiator cooling fan is not working. If this light comes on while driving, stop vehicle, and turn off engine. Allow engine to cool, and check fluid levels.
LOW COOLANT WARNING LIGHT
Light illuminates as a system check during engine start-up and goes out after a few seconds. If it does not illuminate as described, check fuses and/or electrical system. If light comes on during normal vehicle operation, engine coolant level is too low. Add fluid as necessary.
BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT
BRAKE warning light indicates that either the parking brake is engaged or there is a malfunction in the dual brake system. Light should come on briefly as a bulb check with ignition switch in ON position; it should go out after engine is started and parking brake is released. If light remains on, low brake fluid level is indicated.
ANTI-LOCK WARNING LIGHT
If functioning correctly, light comes on when ignition switch is turned to ON position and goes out after engine is started. If light comes on during normal vehicle operation, this indicates that the anti-lock brake is inoperative and service is needed. If light flashes intermittently, anti-lock system is still working, but service is required.
OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT
Light indicates that oil is not going through the engine quick enough to keep it properly lubricated and cool. Under normal operating conditions, light comes on as a test with ignition switch in ON position and goes out when engine is started. If light illuminates during normal vehicle operation or blinks when braking, it indicates that oil is not going through engine properly. Check oil level immediately.
ENGINE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE
Gauge indicates engine oil pressure, but does not indicate amount of oil in engine. However, oil level may affect oil pressure. Under normal operating conditions, gauge should register within NORMAL band. Oil pressure may vary with engine speed, oil viscosity or outside temperature. Oil pressure during engine warm-up will be higher than oil pressure at normal operating temperature. If gauge registers below NORMAL band, stop engine, and check oil level.
