Note. Use the Severe Service schedule if the vehicle to be serviced is operated under ANY (one or more) of these conditions

Service is recommended at mileage intervals based on vehicle operation. Service schedules are based on the following primary operating conditions

SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (AIR BAG SYSTEM)

RADIATOR FAN & CAP

CAUTIONAlways disconnect the fan motor when working near the radiator fan. The fan is temperature controlled and could start at any time, even when the ignition key is in the OFF position. DO NOT loosen or remove radiator cap when cooling system is hot.
CAUTIONBefore replacing a blown fuse, remove ignition key, turn off all lights and accessories to avoid damaging the electrical system. Be sure to use fuse with the correct indicated amperage rating. The use of an incorrect amperage rating fuse may result in a dangerous electrical system overload.

WARRANTY INFORMATION

CAUTIONAlways refer to customer's copy of warranty information for specific model application and/or coverage limitations.

BASIC NEW CAR LIMITED WARRANTY

Covers the cost of repair or replacement of parts on vehicle that have been proven defective in material or workmanship under normal use for 3 years/36,000 miles. 1991-96 coverage is 3 years/40,000 miles. Frictional wear items (wiper blades, drive belts, brake pads, clutch discs, etc.) are covered for 16,000 miles. Original batteries are covered by this warranty for its full term. Thereafter, they are covered under the Parts and Accessories Limited Warranty on a pro-rated basis. Warranty begins on date vehicle is delivered or first put in use, whichever occurs first. Tires are warranted under a separate tire manufacturers warranty.

MAJOR SYSTEMS COVERAGE

The following systems/components are warranted for 6 years or 80,000 miles whichever occurs first and (except for SRS system) are subject to a 150 deductible on every repair.

  1. Engine: block, cylinder head, internal parts, exhaust manifold, turbocharger, water pump, alternator/voltage regulator, power steering pump, AC compressor, starter and fuel pump.
  2. Transmission: main case, internal parts, and differential assembly.
  3. Electronic Control Units: fuel injection, ignition, ABS, ACC.
  4. Other Major Systems: rack & pinion steering assembly, ABS servo/hydraulic control unit and pump, air bag (SRS) components and occupant seat belts.

PARTS & ACCESSORIES LIMITED WARRANTY

Warrants all Saab parts and accessories to be free of defects in material or workmanship under normal use. Covers any repairs or replacement of parts necessary to correct defects at manufacturer's option. Warranty begins on date of original purchase of each item. The following replacement parts are warranted for 1 year unlimited mileage or for term of Basic New Car Warranty, whichever is longer.

PERFORATION WARRANTY

Any body part that becomes perforated due to corrosion is warranted for 6 years unlimited mileage. Does not cover exhaust system components.

EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM DEFECT WARRANTY (EXCEPT CALIFORNIA)

Manufacturer warrants its emission components in vehicle to be free of defects in material and workmanship and that vehicle is designed, built and equipped to conform at the time of sale to all applicable Federal standards for emission control system. Warranty begins on the date vehicle is delivered or first put in use and is effective for 5 years or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first.

EMISSION PERFORMANCE WARRANTY (EXCEPT CALIFORNIA)

Vehicle is warranted to comply to all applicable emissions standards as judged by an EPA-approved emissions test, which may be subjected to changes, for 5 years/50,000 miles, provided the vehicle is maintained and used in accordance with the instructions for care and use in the Saab Owner's Manual. Warranty begins on Warranty Start Date and the primary components listed below are covered for 5 years/50,000 miles, with a few exceptions. Refer to customer's copy of warranty information for specific details.

EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM WARRANTY (CALIFORNIA)

Manufacturer warrants that vehicle is designed, built and equipped to conform at time of sale to all applicable requirements of the U.S. EPA and the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for 5 years or 50,000 miles. Listed below are the primary components which affect vehicle's emission performance and are warranted to be free of defects in material and workmanship which would cause it to fail to conform to all applicable U.S. EPA and/or CARB requirements. The components listed are warranted for 5 years or 50,000 miles on all 1986-89 vehicles. For 1990-96 vehicles, this warranty period is good for 3 years or 50,000 miles, except for some items, which have an extended warranty for up to 7 years or 70,000 miles. Refer to customer's copy of warranty information for details on specific model application and/or limitations. Warranty begins on date vehicle is delivered or first put in use, whichever occurs first.
