SERVICE INTERVALS

On 900 Series, check fluid level every 15,000 miles, change fluid at 65,000 miles. On 9000 Series, change fluid at first 5000 miles, then every 30,000 miles.

CHECKING FLUID LEVEL

  1. Park vehicle on level surface. Apply hand brake. Allow engine to idle at normal operating temperature. Place selector lever in each gear position for at least 15 seconds. Return to "P" position.
  2. Check fluid level. Fluid level should be between the MIN and MAX marks on dipstick. Use hot or cold markings on dipstick, depending on transmission fluid temperature. DO NOT overfill.

On all models, use Dexron-II automatic transmission fluid.

DRAINING & REFILLING

Remove transaxle drain plug. Allow fluid to completely drain. Install drain plug and tighten to 44-71 INCH lbs. (5-8 N.m). Add fluid and check fluid level. See TRANSAXLE CAPACITIES table. DO NOT overfill.
