Installation Procedure

1. Install the windshield into the opening. Refer to «ADHESIVE INSTALLATION OF WINDSHIELDS»(ref-652259-S35709059142014082300000) .
2. Install the rearview mirror. Refer to «INSIDE REARVIEW MIRROR REPLACEMENT»(ref-652259-S28031005452014082300000) .
3. Install the interior windshield pillar garnish moldings. Refer to «WINDSHIELD GARNISH MOLDING REPLACEMENT»(ref-652235-S03156074192014082300000) .
4. Install the windshield side reveal moldings. Refer to «WINDSHIELD SIDE REVEAL MOLDING REPLACEMENT»(ref-652259-S32659193822014082300000) .
5. Install the air inlet grille. Refer to «AIR INLET GRILLE PANEL REPLACEMENT»(ref-652257-S38899253992014082300000) .
6. Install the windshield wipers arms and blades. Refer to «WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM REPLACEMENT»(ref-652257-S20933135622014082300000) .
7. Remove the double layer of masking tape around the perimeter of the painted surfaces and the interior trim.
8. Close the hood.

1. Run the window to the fully closed position.

3. Remove the front side door garnish molding. Refer to «FRONT SIDE DOOR WINDOW REPLACEMENT»(ref-652259-S38106407482014082300000) .
4. Remove the water deflector.
5. Remove the front side window inner sealing strip. Refer to «FRONT SIDE DOOR WINDOW INNER SEALING STRIP REPLACEMENT»(ref-652259-S36774397662014082300000) .
6. Tape the window in the closed position.
7. Loosen the window regulator guide nuts 4 revolutions.
8. Connect the door trim panel electrical connector.
9. Using the power window switch, lower the window regulator to separate the window from the regulator guides.
10. Remove the tape.
11. Remove the window by tilting the window forward then pulling the window up and out of the door.

1. NOTE: The window regulator should be at least 1/2 way down before installing the window. Install the window down into the door.
2. Position the window into the 2 window regulator guides.
3. NOTE: Start the vehicle to ensure maximum power to the window motor. This is required in order to fully seat the window for adjustment. Start the vehicle.
4. Refer to «CAUTION: RETAINER»(ref-652229-S20487768742014082300000) . Using the power window switch, raise the window to the fully closed position. Tighten the window regulator guide nuts to 11 Nm (98 lb in).
5. Install the front side window inner sealing strip. Refer to «FRONT SIDE DOOR WINDOW INNER SEALING STRIP REPLACEMENT»(ref-652259-S36774397662014082300000) .
6. Inspect the window for proper operation and a tight seal.
7. Shut off the vehicle.
8. Install the water deflector.
9. Install the front side door garnish molding. Refer to «FRONT SIDE DOOR WINDOW REPLACEMENT»(ref-652259-S38106407482014082300000) .
10. Install the front side door trim panel. Refer to «FRONT SIDE DOOR TRIM REPLACEMENT»(ref-652235-S04922236752014082300000) .

4. Remove the rear side door water deflector.

6. Remove the rear side door window belt reveal molding. Refer to «REAR SIDE DOOR WINDOW BELT REVEAL MOLDING REPLACEMENT»(ref-652259-S04864251302014082300000)
7. Connect the rear side door trim panel electrical connector.
8. Run the window to the fully up position.
9. Tape the window in the up position.
10. Loosen rear side door front window run channel bolt.
11. Loosen the window regulator guide nuts 4 revolutions.
12. Using the power window switch, lower the window regulator to the fully down position.
13. Remove the tape.
14. Slide the window down past the window regulator guides and out of the front window run channel.
15. Lift the rear side door window out of the door.

1. Install the window down into the door, past the window regulator guides.
2. Raise the window past the window regulator guides.
3. Lower the window into the window regulator guides.
4. Push the glass forward into the front glass run channel.
5. NOTE: Start the vehicle to ensure maximum power to the window motor. This is required in order to fully seat the window for adjustment. Start the vehicle.
6. Refer to «CAUTION: RETAINER»(ref-652229-S20487768742014082300000) Using the power window switch, raise the window to the fully up position. Tighten the window regulator guide nuts to 11 Nm (98 lb in).
7. Install the window into the rear side door front window run channel, tighten the bolts to 9 Nm (80 lb in).
8. Inspect the window for proper operation and a tight seal.
9. Shut off the vehicle.
10. Install the rear side door window belt reveal molding. Refer to «REAR SIDE DOOR WINDOW BELT REVEAL MOLDING REPLACEMENT»(ref-652259-S04864251302014082300000)
11. Install the rear side door window inner sealing strip. Refer to «REAR SIDE DOOR WINDOW INNER SEALING STRIP REPLACEMENT»(ref-652259-S26692395242014082300000)
12. Install rear side door water deflector.
13. Install the rear side door garnish molding. Refer to «REAR SIDE DOOR WINDOW REPLACEMENT»(ref-652259-S17992680722014082300000)
14. Install the rear side door trim panel. Refer to «REAR SIDE DOOR TRIM REPLACEMENT»(ref-652235-S19750649592014082300000)

1. Install the quarter window in the opening. Refer to «ADHESIVE INSTALLATION OF QUARTER WINDOWS»(ref-652259-S01199446302014082300000)
2. Connect the electrical connector to the window.
3. Install the rear quarter trim panel. Refer to «QUARTER UPPER TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT»(ref-652235-S41761675372014082300000)
4. Remove the protective coverings and tape from the vehicle quarter.

1. Install the liftgate window into the opening. Refer to «ADHESIVE INSTALLATION OF LIFTGATE WINDOWS»(ref-652259-S39132237332014082300000) .
2. Install the liftgate side appliques. Refer to «LIFTGATE SIDE APPLIQUE REPLACEMENT»(ref-652246-S40208767802014082300000) .
3. Install the rear spoiler. Refer to «REAR END SPOILER REPLACEMENT»(ref-652246-S18217274822014082300000) .
4. Install the rear window wiper arm. Refer to «REAR WINDOW WIPER ARM REPLACEMENT»(ref-652257-S36545856382014082300000) .
5. Connect the liftgate window rear defogger electrical connectors.
6. Install the liftgate lower trim. Refer to «LIFTGATE LOWER TRIM FINISH PANEL REPLACEMENT»(ref-652235-S33464764352014082300000) .
7. Remove the double layer of masking tape around the perimeter of the painted surfaces and the interior trim.
8. Close the liftgate.

1. Refer to «WARNING: HANDLING GLASS AND SHEET METAL»(ref-652229-S08961136482014082300000) . Use a urethane adhesive systems which meet GM Specification GM 3651G.
2. Remove all mounds or loose pieces of urethane adhesive from the pinchweld area.
3. If the original window is being reused, remove all but approximately 2 mm (3/64 in) of the existing bead of urethane adhesive from the pinch-weld flange surface by using a clean utility knife or razor blade scraper.
4. Inspect the pinch weld flange of the window opening for causes of a broken window.
5. Inspect for any of the following problems in order to help prevent future breakage of the window: High weld Solder spots Hardened sealer Any other obstruction or irregularity in the pinch-weld flange
6. NOTE: If corrosion of the pinch-weld flange is present or if sheet metal repairs or replacements are required, the pinch-weld flange must be refinished in order to restore the bonding area strength. If paint repairs are required, mask the flange bonding area prior to applying the color coat in order to provide a clean primer only surface. Materials such as BASF DE15®, DuPont 2610®, Sherwin-Williams PSE 4600 and NP70® and Martin-Semour 5120 and 5130® PPG DP90LF SPIES/HECKER 3688/8590 - 3688/5150 - 4070/5090 STANDOX 11158/13320 - 14653/14980 products are approved for this application. After repairing the opening as indicated, perform the following steps: 6.1. Remove all traces of broken glass from the outer cowl panel, seats, floor, and defroster ducts. 6.2. Clean around the edge of the inside surface of the window with a 50/50 mixture of isopropyl alcohol and water by volume on a dampened lint free cloth.
7. Verify all primers and urethane adhesive are within expiration dates.
8. WARNING: Failure to prep the area prior to the application of primer may cause insufficient bonding of urethane adhesive. Insufficient bonding of urethane adhesive may allow unrestrained occupants to be ejected from the vehicle resulting in personal injury. NOTE: Do not apply the black #3 primer to the existing bead (1) of the urethane adhesive on the pinch-weld flange. Apply the primer only to nicks, scratches, or the primed surfaces. Shake the pinch-weld primer black #3 for at least 1 minute.
9. Use a new dauber in order to apply the primer to the surface of the pinchweld flange (1).
10. Allow the pinch-weld primer to dry for approximately 10 minutes.
11. Dry fit the window (1) into the opening in order to determine the correct position. Get help from an assistant.
12. If equipped, ensure that the windshield locator pins are positioned into the locator slots on the upper pinch-weld flange.
13. Use masking tape in order to mark the locations (1) of the window (2) in the opening.
14. Cut the masking tape in the center and remove the window from the opening.
15. NOTE: Use care when applying window prep clear #1 on the window. This primer dries almost instantly, and may stain the viewing area of the window if not applied evenly. Use a new dauber in order to apply window prep clear #1 to the area approximately 18 mm (0.71 in) around the entire perimeter of the window inner surface. Immediately wipe the window primed area using a clean, lint-free cloth.
16. Apply a second coat of the window prep clear #1 to the same area of the window.
17. NOTE: The window primer black #2 is effective up to 8 hours after applying it to the window. The primed surface of the window must be kept clean. Shake the window primer black #2 for at least 1 minute.
18. Use a new dauber in order to apply the window primer black #2 to the same areas (2) that window prep clear #1 was applied.
19. Allow the window primer to dry for approximately 10 minutes.
20. Cut the applicator nozzle in order to provide a minimum urethane bead of 14 mm (0.55 in) wide and 14 mm (0.55 in) high.
21. Use a cartridge-type caulking gun in order to apply a smooth, continuous bead of urethane adhesive.
22. Use the edge of the window as a guide for the nozzle in order to apply the urethane adhesive (1) to the inner surface of the window (3).
23. With the aid of an assistant, place the window (1) in the opening.
24. Align the masking tape (1) lines on the window (2) and the body.
25. NOTE: To prevent damage to the window due to objects impacting an exposed edge, upon installation, the window must rest 1 mm (0.04 in) below the surface of the sheet metal. Press firmly around the entire periphery of the windshield in order to wet-out the urethane bead.
26. Tape the window to the body in order to minimize movement until the urethane adhesive cures.
27. Clean any excess urethane adhesive from the body.
28. NOTE: Do not direct a hard stream of high pressure water to the freshly applied urethane adhesive. Use a soft spray of warm water in order to immediately water test the window.
29. Inspect the window for leaks.
30. If any leaks are found, use a plastic paddle in order to apply extra urethane adhesive at the leak point.
31. Retest the window for leaks.
32. WARNING: Insufficient curing of urethane adhesive may allow unrestrained occupants to be ejected from the vehicle resulting in personal injury. For the moisture-curing type of urethane adhesive, allow a minimum of 6 hours at 21°C (70°F) or greater and with at least 30 percent relative humidity. Allow at least 24 hours for the complete curing of the urethane adhesive. For the chemical-curing type of urethane adhesive, allow a minimum of 1 hour. Do NOT physically disturb the repair area until after these minimum times have elapsed. Maintain the following conditions in order to properly cure the urethane adhesive: Partially lower a door window in order to prevent pressure buildups when closing doors before the urethane adhesive cures. Do not drive the vehicle until the urethane adhesive is cured. Refer to the above curing times. Do not use compressed air in order to dry the urethane adhesive.
33. Complete the window installation. Refer to «WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT»(ref-652259-S22165941002014082300000) .

9. Allow the pinch-weld primer to dry for approximately 10 minutes.
10. Dry fit the window into the opening in order to determine the correct position. Get help from an assistant.
11. Using masking tape, mark the location of the window assembly to the opening.
12. Apply window Prep #1 followed by window Primer #2 on the encapsulation material. Allow to dry for 6-10 minutes.
13. Cut the applicator nozzle in order to provide a bead of 10 mm (0.39 in) high (1) and 6 mm (0.24 in) wide (2).
14. Use a cartridge-type caulking gun in order to apply a smooth, continuous bead of urethane adhesive.
15. Use the inside edge of the window frame (1) as a guide for the nozzle in order to apply the urethane adhesive bead (2) to the window frame (3) bonding surface.
16. Place the window into the opening. Make sure the window frame alignment pins (1) are properly located.
17. Press the window (2) firmly into place.
18. Tape the window to the body in order to minimize movement until the urethane adhesive cures.
19. Clean any excess urethane adhesive from the body.
20. NOTE: Do not direct a stream of high pressure water to the freshly applied urethane adhesive. Use a soft spray of warm water in order to immediately water test the window.
21. Inspect the window for leaks.

1. NOTE: If the windshield is equipped with a blackout area around the mirror base bracket Care Must be used not to cut or scrape the blackout. Determine the location of the mirror mounting base by marking the outside/inside of the windshield with a wax pencil where the base was previously located. If it is not clear where the base was located, use the following steps to determine where the base should be installed: 1.1. Using a measuring tape, measure the distance between the windshield pillars at the windshield blackout line. 1.2. Using a marking pencil, halfway between the windshield pillars, draw a centerline (1) on the windshield from the roof panel to the windshield base. 1.3. Draw a perpendicular line intersecting the centerline (2) at that location. The bottom center of the mirror mounting base will be at the intersection of these lines.
2. NOTE: Clean the inside windshield glass and the mounting surface of the mirror mounting base thoroughly with a clean cloth saturated with naphtha or a 50/50 mixture by volume of clean water and isopropyl alcohol. Clean the inside windshield glass thoroughly to remove all old adhesive.
3. NOTE: If reinstalling the original mounting base, place the mirror mounting base in a suitable holding device, such as a vice. Clean mirror mounting base thoroughly to remove all of the old adhesive.
4. Using the Inside Mirror Adhesive Kit, or equivalent to apply a small amount of activator to the mounting surface of the mirror mounting base. Refer to «ADHESIVES, FLUIDS, LUBRICANTS, AND SEALERS»(ref-652259-S28233140262014082300000) .
5. Apply a small amount of activator to the windshield where the mounting base is to be installed.
6. Allow the activator to dry 5 minutes.
7. NOTE: Do not touch the mounting surface of the mirror mounting base or the glass. Apply 1 drop of adhesive to the center of the mirror mounting base.
8. Immediately apply the mounting base to the windshield, ensuring that the mounting base aligns correctly to the marks made on the outside of the windshield.
9. Hold the mounting base firmly in place for 1 minute.
10. Allow the adhesive to set for 15 minutes before installing the rearview mirror.
11. Clean the wax pencil lines from the exterior surface of the glass.
12. Install the mirror to the mirror mounting base. Refer to «INSIDE REARVIEW MIRROR REPLACEMENT»(ref-652259-S28031005452014082300000) .
