  1. Remove the battery tray support. Refer to «BATTERY TRAY SUPPORT REPLACEMENT»(ref-652241-S16381493362014082300000) .
  2. Secure and connect the battery.
  3. Remove the oil filling plug (1).
  4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to «LIFTING AND JACKING THE VEHICLE»(ref-652230-S26645367622014082300000) .
  5. Position a receptacle under the car.
  6. Clean dirt from the oil filling pipe.
  7. Remove the oil level screw (5) from the filling pipe (3) and REPLACE the O-ring (4).
  8. Remove the filling pipe from the transmission and REPLACE the gasket (2).
  9. Let the transmission fluid drain out for 10 minutes.
  10. Refer to «FASTENER CAUTION»(ref-652265-S21063658522014082300000) . Install and tighten the overflow pipe with 50 Nm (37 lb in) , fit a NEW gasket.
  11. Lower the vehicle.
  12. Fill with transmission fluid until the fluid runs out of the filler pipe.
  13. Raise the vehicle.
  14. Refer to «FASTENER CAUTION»(ref-652265-S21063658522014082300000) . Fit the oil level screw and tighten with 8 Nm (71 lb in) , use a NEW O-ring.

  1. NOTE: The fluid level must only be checked in conjunction with the fluid temperature, see diagnostic tool, after performing work or after a loss of fluid and must be corrected if necessary. Ensure that only the correct transmission fluid for AF40 is used for topping up. Test conditions: Vehicle must be on a flat surface. Selector lever in position "P". Engine OFF. Connect the scan tool and erase the error memory.
  2. Remove the battery tray support. Refer to «BATTERY TRAY SUPPORT REPLACEMENT»(ref-652241-S16381493362014082300000) .
  3. Secure and connect the battery.
  4. Remove the oil filling plug (1).
  5. Start the engine and let it run during the whole test.
  6. Shift through ALL gears with the brake pedal pressed down. Switch selector lever from position "P" to "D" and back to "P". Hold each position for at least 2 seconds. Repeat this process twice. Check transmission fluid temperature with diagnostic tool. Raise the vehicle. Remove the fluid control screw (5), replace the O-ring. Drain the transmission fluid until it stops dripping out of the overflow pipe (3), otherwise add transmission fluid until it drips out of the overflow pipe. Install the fluid check bolt with NEW O-ring and tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb in) . Lower the vehicle. Top up 0.4 liters of ATF. Turn OFF the engine.
  7. Install the transmission oil filler plug with NEW seal ring and tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb ft) .
  8. Install the battery tray support. Refer to «BATTERY TRAY SUPPORT REPLACEMENT»(ref-652241-S16381493362014082300000) .
