Power Seats: Overview Saab 9-3 I

DESCRIPTION

Vehicles may be equipped with either conventional or memory power seats. Both conventional and memory power seats are adjusted by means of a switch on outside of seat. Four electric motors are used to move seat forward or backward, to change height of seat cushion at front or rear, and to change backrest angle. Memory seats also include a switch for storing settings in memory, in addition to a Power Seat Module (PSM) located under memory seat.

MEMORY SEAT FUNCTION FAULTY, MANUAL SEAT OPERATION IS OKAY

1. Disconnect memory buttons switch connector. Connect test light between switch connector terminal No. 2 (Red wire) and ground. If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, repair open circuit in Red wire.
2. Connect jumper wire between female connector terminals No. 2 (Red wire) and No. 7 (Orange wire). Using Tech 1 scan tool, read MEMORY BUTTON 1 (PSM). If scan tool shows ON when jumper wire is connected and OFF when jumper wire is removed, go to next step. If scan tool does not show ON when jumper wire is connected and does not show OFF when jumper wire is removed, repair open circuit in Red or Orange wire.
3. Connect jumper wire between female connector terminals No. 2 (Red wire) and No. 3 (Gray wire). Using Tech 1 scan tool, read MEMORY BUTTON 2 (PSM). If scan tool shows ON when jumper wire is connected and OFF when jumper wire is removed, go to next step. If scan tool does not show ON when jumper wire is connected and does not show OFF when jumper wire is removed, repair open circuit in Red or Gray wire.
4. Connect jumper wire between female connector terminals No. 2 (Red wire) and No. 5 (White wire). Using Tech 1 scan tool, read MEMORY BUTTON 3 (PSM). If scan tool shows ON when jumper wire is connected and OFF when jumper wire is removed, go to next step. If scan tool does not show ON when jumper wire is connected and does not show OFF when jumper wire is removed, repair open circuit in Red or White wire.
5. Connect jumper wire between female connector terminals No. 2 (Red wire) and No. 6 (Gray/Brown wire). Using Tech 1 scan tool, read MEMORY BUTTON 3 (PSM). If scan tool shows ON when jumper wire is connected and OFF when jumper wire is removed, replace memory button unit. If scan tool does not show ON when jumper wire is connected and does not show OFF when jumper wire is removed, repair open circuit in Red or Gray/Brown wire.
