1Secure the pliersSet the pliers to the diameter of the window base and secure to the mirror base with the projecting plastic parts towards the windscreen.
2Detach the mirrorUsing the pliers, turn the rearview mirror 90° counter-clockwise. Then release the pliers from the mirror base.
3Remove the mirrorUnclip the base of the interior rearview mirror from the retainer plate. Then remove the small aluminium chip in the locking area, otherwise it cannot be ensured that the mirror will be securely fit when replaced. If the mirror is being fitted for the second or third time, inspect locking area for signs of wear and replace if necessary.

1Fit interior rearview mirrorClip in the base of the interior rearview mirror while turned 90° counter-clockwise.
2Fix interior rearview mirrorSecure the pliers with the projecting plastic parts to the windscreen on the mirror base. Then turn the mirror base 90° clockwise using the pliers while applying pressure to the retainer plate. The interior rearview mirror must not be turned past the locking point. Now release the pliers.

INSTALLING LID FOR GLOVE COMPARTMENT INSTRUCTIONS

Replacing microswitch and interior light

  1. Replacing microswitch and interior light NOTE: In the case of a defective microswitch, the complete wiring harness -4- must be replaced! (Scheme 30) See «REMOVING GLOVE COMPARTMENT»(ref-199812-S33900167952005102000000). On the retaining bracket -2-, press the locking tabs -A- apart. Guide out the microswitch -5-. (Scheme 30) Insert a plastic spatula into the side of the interior light -1- and press out. Disconnect the electrical plug connection. (Scheme 30) 2 - Installing microswitch and interior light Plug in the electrical plug connection of the interior light -1-. Press the interior light -1- into the cut-out of the glove compartment. (Scheme 30) Press the microswitch -5- into the retaining bracket -2-. Note the coding of the microswitch. (Scheme 30) To fit the glove compartment, engage the electrical lead -4- into the clip -3-. (Scheme 30) See «INSTALLING GLOVE COMPARTMENT»(ref-199812-S19728393732005102000000).

Replacing pneumatic shock absorber

  1. Removing the pneumatic shock absorber Press the pneumatic shock absorber -1- out of the fastening tab -arrow B-. Turn the pneumatic shock absorber by 90° anti-clockwise in the direction of arrow -A- and guide it out of the glove compartment. (Scheme 31) 2 - Installing the pneumatic shock absorber Insert the pneumatic shock absorber -1- and turn it 90° clockwise in the direction of arrow -A-. Insert the pneumatic shock absorber into the fastening tab towards the -direction of arrow B-. (Scheme 31)

Note. When using the primer, the drying time of 15 - 20 minutes must be observed! When using the activator, the drying time of 2 minutes must be observed! During adhesion, observe the press-on duration of 40 - 50 seconds! The bonding strength is 60% after one hour. 100% bonding strength is reached after 24 hours of curing time!

Remove adhesive residuesRemove adhesive residues from the windscreen mechanically using a scraper. Remove adhesive residues on the bonding plate of the interior mirror mechanically using a scraper.
2Sand the bonding plate of the interior mirror flatSand the bonding plate of the interior mirror flat mechanically using 100 grain sandpaper.
Clean the bonding plate of the interior mirrorClean the bonding plate of the interior mirror with cleaning solution (A).
Clean the bonding area on the windscreenClean the bonding area on the windscreen with cleaning solution (A).
3Mask the bonding area on the windscreenMask the bonding area on the windscreen with primer template (cover film C). The marking for the position of the interior mirror must be visible in the centre of the primer template.
4Prime the bonding area on the windscreenTreat the masked bonding area on the windscreen thinly and evenly using primer (B).
5Activate the bonding area on the windscreenSpray activator (D) onto the bonding area of the windscreen.
Remove the primer template
6Apply adhesive to the bonding plateApply a drop of adhesive (E) to the bonding plate of the interior mirror.
7Stick on the interior mirrorPress the interior mirror with the bonding plate onto the primed and activated area of the windscreen.

  1. Detaching sun visor Unclip cover -1- with a screwdriver and unscrew the fastening screw -2- . Pull off the sun visor -3- from the bearing pedestal towards the centre of the car.
