1. Unscrew the four fastening screws -1- and remove backrest side support -2-. (Scheme 173)

1. Unclip inner spring for backrest frame -1- at the drive shaft -2- ( -arrows B- ) and swivel it upwards ( -arrow C- ). (Scheme 174)

2. Turn plug connection -3- approx. 90° anti-clockwise -arrow D- and remove it from the backrest frame -arrow E-. (Scheme 174)

3. Release plug connection -3- ( -arrows a- ) and disconnect it -arrows F-. (Scheme 174)

4. Unscrew the two fastening screws -1- and remove motor for backrest adjustment -2-. (Scheme 175)

5. Pull drive shaft -1- out of the gear mount -2- and check for damage. (Scheme 176)

1. Insert the drive shaft -1- into the gear mount -2- by twisting slightly. see scheme 283

2. Push motor for backrest adjustment -2- onto the drive shaft by twisting slightly and secure with the two fastening screws -1-. (Scheme 177)

3. Push plug connection -3- together -arrows A- until it engages securely. see scheme 285

4. Insert plug connection -3- into the backrest frame -arrow B- and turn approx. 90° clockwise -arrow C-. see scheme 285

5. Swivel inner spring for backrest frame -1- downwards -arrow D- and clip in at the drive shaft -2- ( -arrows E- ). see scheme 285

1. Connect the removed seat to the vehicle's wiring harness via test cable P 9745 and test cable P 9745/1 .

2. Connect electric plug to control module trim panel. > 721619 Removing and installing control module trim panel - section on "Installing"

4. Switch on ignition.

5. Carry out a function check on the seat components.

6. Switch off ignition after function test and disconnect battery.
