Installing backrest frame

> Always replace fastening screws for the front seat after customer service and reworking.

> It is not permissible to make alterations to the micro-encapsulated screws (e. g., use lubricant, loosen bolts, and screw them down again).

Note. Two persons are needed to remove and install the backrest frame.

1. Fit backrest frame -2- into the seat frame, position it correctly and secure with the fastening screws -1-. Tightening torque --> Tightening torque: 34 (25 ftlb.) Nm +/-4 (3 ftlb.) Nm see scheme 65

1. Position frame for seat surface -3- on the seat frame -4- ( -arrow A- ), press it upwards -arrow B- and screw down the fastening screws -2-. see scheme 66

2. Press in new retaining pins -1- at the left and right. see scheme 66

2. Install wire harness for electrically adjustable seats. Refer to 97 57 19 Removing and installing wire harness for electrically adjustable seat - as of MY 2005 (All Models) .

Note. Only for USA/Canada version vehicles.

3. Install AWS control unit. Refer to 69 68 19 Removing and installing AWS control unit - as of MY 2005 (All Models) .

Note. Only for vehicles with adaptive sports seats.

4. Install switch for air cushion. > 720619 Removing and installing air cushion switch - section on "Installing"

Note. Only for vehicles with adaptive sports seats.

5. Install air cushion control valve. > 723819 Removing and installing air cushion control valve - section on "Installing"

Note. Only for vehicles with adaptive sports seats.

6. Install air cushion motor. > 723919 Removing and installing air cushion motor - section on "Installing"

7. Install belt lock. Refer to 69 24 19 Removing and installing front belt lock - as of MY 2005 (All Models) .

8. Install padding for front seat. Refer to 74 10 19 Removing and installing padding for front seat - as of MY 2005 (All Models) .
