KNOCK SENSOR
Note. The numbers in parenthesis in removal and installation procedures refer to numbered components in referenced figure(s).
- Remove the intake manifold (1). See appropriate article in ENGINES. (Scheme 22)
- Disconnect the Knock Sensor (KS) harness connector (2). (Scheme 23)
- Remove the nut (1) securing KS (2) to the engine block. (Scheme 23)
- Remove the KS (2) from engine block.

- Install the KS (2) onto the threaded stud in the engine block.
- Install the KS nut (1) to the threaded stud. (Scheme 23)
- Align the KS (1) on the engine block as shown in illustration. (Scheme 24) The KS harness connector cavity must point down, in a 15-30 degree arc from perpendicular to the earth, to prevent water accumulation in the KS harness connector cavity.
- Tighten KS nut while maintaining the correct sensor alignment. Tighten nut to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-153233-S09576916932003032600000).
- Connect the KS harness connector.
- Install the intake manifold. See appropriate article in ENGINES.
