REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
| WARNING | Vehicle may be equipped with Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). When servicing vehicle, use care to avoid accidental air bag deployment. SRS-related components may be located in steering column, center console, instrument panel and lower panel on instrument panel. Do not use electrical test equipment on or near these circuits. If necessary, deactivate SRS before servicing components. See AIR BAG DEACTIVATION PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION. |
| CAUTION | When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. Before disconnecting battery, see COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION. |
Note. For additional steering column and related component information, see appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT or STEERING COLUMNS article in STEERING.
- Remove steering column trim cover and knee bolster. Remove shift lever actuator. Disconnect electrical connector from BTSI solenoid. Disconnect BTSI solenoid from steering column ball studs.
- To install, connect BTSI solenoid onto steering column ball studs. Connect electrical connector to BTSI solenoid. Install shift lever actuator. Place gearshift lever in "N" position. Adjust BTSI solenoid. See «BRAKE TRANSMISSION SHIFT INTERLOCK SOLENOID»(ref-130817-S41930365752001120500000) under ADJUSTMENTS.
- Remove left side instrument panel insulator. Disconnect electrical connectors from stoplamp switch. Remove stoplamp switch from brake pedal bracket by pulling out of retainer clip.
- To install, position stoplamp switch into brake pedal bracket until switch plunger is flush at bracket. Connect electrical connectors to stoplamp switch. Install left side instrument panel insulator.
