Programming and Setup - All Systems: Removal & Installation Pontiac GTO IV

ECM Replacement

If the engine control module (ECM) is replaced, the following procedures must be performed

  1. Program the ECM - Refer to «Service Programming System (SPS)»(ref-201100-S18496744742005102400000) .
  2. Link the ECM to the Powertrain Interface Module (PIM). The ECM must be linked to the PIM using the Techline Information System (TIS).
  3. The CKP Variation Learn-Refer to «CKP System Variation Learn Procedure»(ref-201043-S19765510982005102400000) in Engine Controls.

Setup for Component Replacement

The replacement of some components will require a setup procedure for complete repair.

If any of the following components are replaced, a CKP Variation Learn Procedure must be performed. Refer to CKP System Variation Learn Procedure .

  1. Engine replacement
  2. Any engine repair that disturbs the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor or its relationship with the crankshaft reluctor wheel
  3. CKP sensor

Transmission Control Module (TCM) Replacement

If the TCM is replaced, TCM Reprogramming must be performed. Refer to Service Programming System (SPS) in Programming and Setup.
