DESCRIPTION
The body control computer system consists of a combination of modules that communicate over the Chrysler Collision Detection (CCD) bus system. Through the CCD bus, information related to the operation of vehicle components and circuits is relayed to the appropriate system module(s). Each module receives the same component information. This reduces the complexity of vehicle wiring and size of wiring harness.
The following body control computer systems are covered in this article: electronic instrument cluster, electro/mechanical instrument cluster, automatic door locks, compass/mini-trip module, illuminated entry, headlights, key-in light system, liftgate release, seat belt warning light system and intermittent wipers. System failures within these systems can be diagnosed via the CCD bus diagnostic connector using Chrysler Diagnostic Readout Box II (DRB-II) tester.
OPERATION
Diagnostic test procedures are designed to detect system faults as quickly as possible. Body and chassis fault codes are accessed through CCD bus diagnostic connector. CCD bus diagnostic connector is located under left side of dash. (Scheme 32) DRB-II tester is used to access information from CCD bus.
Scheme 32
The body control computer, sometimes referred to as body controller, is located under left side of instrument panel. Body control computer stores odometer information for electronic instrument cluster and electro/mechanical instrument cluster display and provides power and ground for a variety of systems. Systems are monitored by body control computer through voltage drops.
CCD BUS
The CCD bus is a twisted pair of wires traveling from module to module receiving and delivering coded information. The code identifies the message and its importance. When multiple messages attempt to access CCD bus at once, code assigns priority ranking. The 2 twisted wires used by the CCD bus system are called Bus "+" and Bus "--". Both wires carry approximately 2.5 volts. The network consists of some modules with "bias" and some with "termination".
Bias is the part of the voltage divider network which places both bus "+" and bus "--" at 2.5 volts. Termination is the part of the circuitry required to complete the voltage divider network and also provide some electromagnetic protection for the CCD bus. Terminations in all CCD applications have approximately 120 ohms resistance.
ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
The electronic instrument cluster includes a digital speedometer, odometer, oil pressure gauge, coolant temperature gauge, fuel gauge, voltage gauge and a series of warning lights. Electronic instrument cluster receives all of its information for its displays from the body controller and the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) by means of CCD bus system.
SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM

PRETEST INSPECTION
Before proceeding with diagnosis, the following precautions must be followed
- Vehicle must have a fully charged battery and functional charging system.
- Always start at TEST 1A: IDENTIFYING VEHICLE EQUIPMENT & SYSTEM PROBLEMS. Starting with any other test may result in incorrect results.
- Only perform test steps indicated. It is NOT necessary to perform all steps in a test.
- BODY CONTROL COMPUTER - VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS tests should only be used when instructed to do so by another test. Always start at TEST 1A: FAULT MESSAGES.
- Always perform TEST VER-1 after repairs are completed.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position before disconnecting or connecting components.
- At end of each test step, reconnect all wires and install any components removed for testing.
- Use extreme care when connecting or disconnecting wiring during testing to prevent accidental grounding or shorting.
- DO NOT use a test light in place of a voltmeter.
- Always disconnect DRB-II after use.
- Always disconnect DRB-II before charging battery.
PROCEDURE
Note. Before proceeding with diagnosis, certain precautions must be followed. See PRETEST INSPECTION under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
Diagnostic test procedures are designed to detect system faults as quickly as possible. Body fault codes are accessed through CCD bus diagnostic connector. (Scheme 32) DRB-II tester is used to access information from CCD bus diagnostic connector. DRB-II tester, jumper wires and volt-ohmmeter will be needed for testing. Proceed to TEST 1A: IDENTIFYING VEHICLE EQUIPMENT & SYSTEM PROBLEMS. Ensure self-diagnostic tests apply to vehicle being tested. See BODY CONTROL COMPUTER TESTS DIRECTORY table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. When system problem is identified according to customer's complaint, perform indicated diagnostic test.
DRB-II KEY FUNCTIONS
- YES Or Down Arrow & NO Or Up Arrow: Keys will move lines on screen up or down, allowing technician to choose an item or scroll through all selections available.
- F1 & F2 Keys: Keys are used to scroll through sensor displays.
- ATM Key: Key will return technician to previous screen.
- ENTER Key: Allows technician to select a test or display. The flashing arrow must be on the display user wishes to select. Pressing the ENTER key in the sensor state will cause display to change from a 3-line display to a 1-line display.
- F3 Key: Key is used to display a help screen. This key may be used at any time.
- Number Key: Keys are used for choosing a display or test by pressing the number for the test or display.
- READ/HOLD Key: Key is used to freeze any sensor display.
- MODE & ATM Keys: Pressing MODE and ATM keys at same time will cause DRB-II to reset to copyright screen.
ENTERING ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTICS
- Before entering on-board diagnostics, see PRETEST INSPECTION. Turn ignition off. Attach appropriate 1993 cartridge to DRB-II. Connect DRB-II to CCD bus diagnostic connector. (Scheme 32)
- Turn all accessories off. Turn ignition on. All character positions will glow and copyright information will appear on DRB-II screen for a few seconds. Display will then change to DRB-II menu.
- If DRB-II displays an error message or screen is blank, see BODY CONTROL COMPUTER - VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS tests. Always start at TEST 1A: FAULT MESSAGES.
- Following DRB-II modes are accessible from DRB-II menu: VEHICLES TESTED, HOW TO USE, CONFIGURE and SELECT SYSTEM.
VEHICLES TESTED Mode
At DRB-II menu, press "1" (VEHICLES TESTED) key. Press ENTER key. At VEHICLES TESTED, DRB-II will display vehicles supported by cartridge used. This screen will display for 5 seconds and return to DRB-II menu. To return to menu sooner, press ATM key.
HOW TO USE Mode
At DRB-II menu, press "2" (HOW TO USE) key. Press ENTER key. DRB-II will display instructions for use of DRB-II for cartridge being used.
CONFIGURE Mode
At DRB-II menu, press "3" (CONFIGURE) key. Press ENTER key. At CONFIGURE menu, technician can VIEW or CHANGE DRB-II display. For example, if metric system is more useful, select METRIC from appropriate menu. All selections made under CONFIGURE option remain active until user changes selection.
SELECT SYSTEM Mode
- This mode enables the technician to select system to be diagnosed. At DRB-II menu, press "4" (SELECT SYSTEM) key. Press ENTER key. DRB-II will display SELECT SYSTEM menu.
- At SELECT SYSTEM menu, press "3" (BODY) key. Press ENTER key. DRB-II should display BUS TEST IN PROGRESS, BUS OPERATIONAL. After a few seconds, SELECT MODULE menu should appear.
- If a bus failure message appears during BUS TEST IN PROGRESS, go to BODY CONTROL COMPUTER - VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS tests. See BODY CONTROL COMPUTER TESTS DIRECTORY table. Always start at TEST 1A: FAULT MESSAGES.
Menu will display body control systems available for technician to diagnose. Select appropriate body system to be tested. DRB-II will then display a menu for specific system being tested. Following functions are accessible from each system menu
- SYSTEM TESTS: This function allows technician to determine whether Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is active over CCD bus.
- READ FAULTS: This functions allows technician to read faults. If no faults exist, NO FAULTS DETECTED will be displayed. If faults exist, DRB-II will display number of faults, fault code and message.
- STATE DISPLAY: This functions allows technician to read states or values of a variety of sensors, inputs/outputs and components.
- ACTUATOR TESTS: This function allows technician to activate various outputs, motors and relays to test their operation.
- ADJUSTMENTS: This function allows the technician to change vehicle theft alarm system mode from disarmed to armed, or to put alarm system in self-diagnostics mode. Adjustments function is not available for testing of other body control modules.
DRB-II Volt/Ohmmeter Mode
- To access volt/ohmmeter mode of DRB-II, connect Red volt/ohmmeter test lead to Red port, located on right top side of DRB-II. NOTE: Because DRB-II is grounded through engine diagnostic connector, only one volt/ohmmeter test lead is required when using volt/ohmmeter option. DRB-II volt/ohmmeter should only be used when self-diagnostic tests require this option.
- To access voltmeter, press VOLT/OHM key once. DRB-II is now in voltmeter mode. Touch test probe to connector or wire to be measured. Read voltage on DRB-II display. When voltage testing is complete, press VOLT/OHM key 3 times to exit voltmeter mode.
- To access ohmmeter, press VOLT/OHM key twice. DRB-II is now in ohmmeter mode. Touch test probe to connector or wire to be measured. Read resistance to circuit ground on DRB-II display. When resistance testing is complete, press VOLT/OHM key twice to exit ohmmeter mode.
DRB-II Continuity Meter Mode
Press VOLT/OHM key 3 times. Display will read NO CONTINUITY. Touch test probe to connector or wire to be measured. Read continuity on DRB-II display. When continuity testing is complete, press VOLT/OHM key once to exit continuity meter mode.
ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (EIC) ACTUATOR TESTS
After ACTUATOR TESTS is selected from ELEC CLUSTER menu, display will change to ACTUATOR TEST and tests available for technician to diagnose. Select appropriate test. DRB-II will then display a menu for specific test. To determine whether or not any of these tests pass or fail, observe EIC display as test is being actuated. Following tests can be accessed from menu
- INTERNAL CHECK: This tests the internal functions of EIC. This test also displays any fault codes present.
- ALL SEGMENTS ON: This test turns on all segments of EIC and then turns them off. If all segments do not glow and then turn off, test is failed.
- SEQUENTIAL SEGMENTS TEST: This test illuminates all vacuum fluorescent bars on all gauges in EIC and then turns them off. If any bar fails to glow, test is failed.
- SEQUENTIAL LEGENDS TEST: This test illuminates all legends in EIC individually and then turns them off. If any legend fails to glow or if 2 legends are illuminated together, test is failed.
DRB-II PROBLEMS & ERROR MESSAGES
For DRB-II problems and/or error messages, go to BODY CONTROL COMPUTER - VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS tests. Always start at TEST 1A: FAULT MESSAGES. Testing of NO RESPONSE messages may be found in this article.
BODY CONTROL SYSTEM CONNECTORS
Note. For terminal identification of body control system connectors (Scheme 33)-16. Connector terminal numbers are molded into connectors. If connector terminal identification differs from what is shown in figure, use wire colors to ensure correct circuit is being tested. TEST 1A - IDENTIFYING VEHICLE EQUIPMENT & SYSTEM PROBLEMS
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. When directed to go to next step, disregard step if vehicle is not equipped with module being tested.
- Connect DRB-II to Chrysler Collision Detection (CCD) data link connector. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRB-II, select BODY SYSTEM.
- If DRB-II does not display BUS OPERATIONAL, see VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS. If DRB-II displays BUS OPERATIONAL, go to next step.
- If vehicle is equipped with a Mechanical Instrument Cluster (MIC), go to next step. Using DRB-II, select Electronic Instrument Cluster (EIC). If DRB-II displays NO RESPONSE, go to TEST 48A. If DRB-II does not display NO RESPONSE, go to step 5).
- Using DRB-II, select Mechanical Instrument Cluster (MIC). If DRB-II displays NO RESPONSE, replace body controller. If DRB-II does not display NO RESPONSE, go to next step.
- Using DRB-II, select body controller. If DRB-II displays NO RESPONSE, go to TEST 49A. If DRB-II does not display NO RESPONSE, go to next step.
- Using DRB-II, select compass mini-trip module (if equipped). If DRB-II displays NO RESPONSE, go to TEST 50A. If DRB-II does not display NO RESPONSE, see DIAGNOSTIC TEST DIRECTORY table for specific diagnosis.

TEST 2A - ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (EIC) DIAGNOSTICS

- Turn ignition switch to ON position. If instrument cluster display is blank, replace Electronic Instrument Cluster (EIC).
- If cluster display is not blank, close all doors. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Wait one minute and open left front door. If EIC does not glow, go to TEST 40A.
- If electronic cluster glows, read EIC faults using DRB-II. If DRB-II displays any fault codes, go to TEST 3A. If DRB-II does not display any fault codes, go to TEST 4A.
TEST 3A - ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (EIC) FAULT CODES

- Observe DRB-II screen for fault codes. Read and note fault codes displayed. - Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect EIC and Powertrain Control Module (PCM). PCM is located between data link connector and battery on fenderwell.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance on CCD bus positive circuit (Violet/Brown wire) between PCM connector terminal No. 26 and EIC connector terminal No. 10.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Violet/Brown wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check resistance on CCD bus negative circuit (White/Black wire) between PCM connector terminal No. 46 and EIC connector terminal No. 9.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open White/Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace PCM.
TEST 4A - ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (EIC) PROBLEMS NOT COVERED BY FAULT CODES
Note. Identify faulty area of instrument cluster and perform corresponding test in INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAULTS table.

INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAULTS
If problem exists in speedometer, use DRB-II to select SEQUENTIAL LEGENDS test. If any legends of EIC fail to illuminate or illuminate at the same time (test fails), replace EIC. Perform TEST VER-1A. If test passes, system is operational with no problem found. Perform TEST VER-1A.
TEST 4B - ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (EIC) SPEEDOMETER/ODOMETER FAILURE
Note. Perform TEST VER-1A after each repair.

- If problem exists in odometer, use DRB-II to select SEQUENTIAL LEGENDS test. If any legends of Electronic Instrument Cluster (EIC) fail to illuminate or illuminate at the same time (test fails), replace EIC. If test passes, go to next step.
- Using DRB-II, stop actuation test. Raise vehicle on hoist and start engine. Place gear selector in Drive (1st gear on manual transmission). Using DRB-II, read Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) signal.
- If VSS signal does not increase smoothly with acceleration, see appropriate ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT PANELS article in the ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT Section. If VSS signal increases smoothly with acceleration, check if problem is with odometer only.
- If problem is not with odometer only, replace EIC. If problem is with odometer only, replace body controller.
TEST 4C - ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (EIC) SWITCH OPERATION
Note. Perform TEST VER-1A after each repair.

- Use DRB-II to monitor EIC TRIP switch status. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace EIC. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, go to next step.
- Press TRIP button on EIC. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace EIC. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, go to next step.
- Use DRB-II to read EIC US/METRIC switch status. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace EIC. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, go to next step.
- Press US/METRIC button on EIC. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace EIC. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, go to next step.
- Use DRB-II to read EIC TRIP RESET switch status. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace EIC. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, go to next step.
- Press TRIP RESET button on EIC. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace EIC. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, system is operational with no problem found.
TEST 5A - ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (EIC) IDENTIFYING FAULTY GAUGE(S)
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.

- Using DRB-II, select SEQUENTIAL SEGMENT test. If any segments of EIC fail to illuminate or illuminate at the same time (test fails), replace EIC. If test passes, go to next step.
- If temperature gauge is not operating correctly, go to TEST 6A. If temperature gauge is operating correctly, go to next step.
- If fuel gauge is not operating correctly, go to TEST 45A. If fuel gauge is operating correctly, go to next step.
- If oil pressure gauge is not operating correctly, go to TEST 47A. If oil pressure gauge is operating correctly, use DRB-II to select ENGINE CONTROLLER SYSTEMS TEST.
- If DRB-II displays ENGINE ACTIVE ON THE BUS, see appropriate ALTERNATORS & REGULATORS article in the ELECTRICAL Section. If DRB-II does not display ENGINE ACTIVE ON THE BUS, go to next step.
- Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect EIC and Powertrain Control Module (PCM). PCM is located between data link connector and battery on fenderwell.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance on CCD bus positive circuit (Violet/Brown wire) between PCM connector terminal No. 26 and EIC connector terminal No. 10.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Violet/Brown wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check resistance on CCD bus negative circuit (White/Black wire) between PCM connector terminal No. 46 and EIC connector terminal No. 9.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open White/Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, see appropriate G - TESTS W/ CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section.
TEST 6A - ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (EIC) REPAIRING TEMPERATURE GAUGE PROBLEMS
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.

- Ensure cooling system is operating properly. If cooling system is not operating properly, repair as needed. If cooling system is operating properly, go to next step.
- Using DRB-II, stop SEQUENTIAL SEGMENT test. Using DRB-II, read engine temperature sensor voltage. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to step 6). If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Disconnect engine temperature sensor connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Using DRB-II, read engine temperature sensor voltage. If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace engine temperature sensor. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Gain access to body controller, located under left side of instrument panel. Disconnect body controller connectors. Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, measure voltage of fused ignition feed circuit at Blue body controller connector terminal No. 12 (Dark Blue/White wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Dark Blue/White wire between body controller and splice. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off and place DRB-II in ohmmeter mode. Measure resistance of engine temperature sensor sense circuit, Natural body controller connector terminal No. 23 (Violet/Yellow wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace body control module. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Violet/Yellow wire for short to ground.
- If voltage in step 2) is less than 10 volts, disconnect engine temperature sensor connector. Check and clean connections. Connect jumper wire between engine temperature sensor connector (Violet/Yellow wire) and ground. Using DRB-II, read engine temperature sensor voltage. If voltage is less than one volt, replace engine temperature sensor. If voltage is more than one volt, go to next step.
- Disconnect jumper wire. Gain access to body controller, located under left side of instrument panel. Connect jumper wire between Natural body controller connector terminal No. 23 (Violet/Yellow wire) and ground. Using DRB-II, read engine temperature sensor voltage. If voltage is less than one volt, repair open in Violet/Yellow wire. If voltage is more than one volt, go to next step.
- Disconnect jumper wire. Disconnect Blue body controller connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. If connections are okay, replace body control module.
TEST 7A - IDENTIFYING FAULTY WARNING LIGHT
Note. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER-1A after each repair.
- Ensure parking brake is released and all doors are closed. Start engine. If an oil pressure or engine temperature gauge problem exists, go to TEST 5A. If no oil pressure or engine temperature gauge problem exists, go to next step.
- Using DRB-II, select SEQUENTIAL LEGENDS test. Sequential legends test should turn every warning light on and then off, one at a time (test passes). If sequential legends test fails, replace Electronic Instrument Cluster (EIC). If sequential legends test passes, go to next step.
- Determine which light is operating incorrectly and perform corresponding test indicated in «WARNING LIGHT TEST»(/plymouth/voyager/ii-1991-1995/remont/testing-diagnostics/#engine-controls-tests-wcodes-body-control-computer) table.

WARNING LIGHT TEST
TEST 8A - ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (EIC) OR COMPASS/MINI-TRIP ILLUMINATION TEST

- Ensure park light switch is on. If park lights do not turn on, go to TEST 8B. If park lights turn on, use DRB-II to read panel light sensor voltage while moving dimmer control lever from LOW to HIGH position.
- If DRB-II display changes from zero to 5 volts, go to TEST 8C. If DRB-II display does not change from zero to 5 volts, read panel light sensor voltage. If voltage is more than 4 volts, go to TEST 8D. If voltage is less than 4 volts, remove and inspect fuse No. 9 in fuse block.
- If fuse is okay, repair short to ground in dimming level sense circuit (Orange/Black wire) between Natural body controller connector terminal No. 20 and dimmer switch. If fuse is blown, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Place DRB-II in ohmmeter mode. Disconnect Natural body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary.
- Probe Tan wire (in fuse block) to fuse No. 9. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Tan wire and replace fuse No. 9. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace fuse No. 9.
TEST 8B - REPAIRING PARK LIGHT OPERATION
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.

- Access left switch pod assembly. Place DRB-II in voltmeter mode. Disconnect left pod switch Blue connector. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Probe park light relay control circuit, left pod switch Blue connector terminal No. 4 (Brown/Orange wire).
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace left pod switch. If voltage is less than 10 volts, remove and inspect fuse No. 22 in fuse block. If fuse is blown, go to TEST 8E. If fuse is okay, reinstall fuse. Probe battery feed circuit (Red/Black wire) to fuse No. 22. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Red/Black wire.
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, remove park light relay from power distribution center. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of park light relay control circuit between Blue left pod switch connector terminal No. 4 (Brown/Orange wire) and park light relay connector.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Brown/Orange wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, place DRB-II in voltmeter mode. Probe fused battery feed circuit park light relay connector terminal No. 36 (Pink/Red wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Pink/Red wire between fuse No. 22 and relay connector.
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, probe fused battery feed circuit (Pink/Red wire) terminal No. 39 of park light relay connector. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Pink/Red wire between fuse No. 22 and relay connector. If voltage is more than 10 volts, connect a jumper wire between Pink/Red and Black/Yellow wire terminals of park light relay connector.
- If instrument cluster glows, replace park light relay. If instrument cluster does not glow, remove and inspect fuse No. 9. If fuse is okay, go to TEST 8F. If fuse is blown, place DRB-II in ohmmeter mode. Disconnect jumper wire. Probe fused park light relay output circuit (Tan wire) to fuse No. 9.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace fuse No. 9. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, disconnect Natural body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary.
- Probe fused park light relay output circuit, Natural body controller connector terminal No. 16 (Tan wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Tan wire and replace fuse No. 9. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace body controller and fuse No. 9.
TEST 8C - REPAIRING SHORT TO GROUND IN POD SWITCH CONTROL CIRCUITS

- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Move dimmer switch to center of slide. If a problem exists with Electronic Instrument Cluster (EIC) illumination only, replace EIC.
- If a problem exists with Mechanical Instrument Cluster (MIC) illumination only, replace MIC. If no problem with MIC illumination exists, disconnect Blue body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel.
- Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance of day bright-ness sense circuit at Blue body controller connector terminal No. 6 (Yellow/Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace body controller.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, disconnect Black left pod switch connector. Measure resistance of day brightness sense circuit at Blue body controller connector terminal No. 6 (Yellow/Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace left pod switch. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Yellow/Black wire.
TEST 8D - REPAIRING OPEN IN POD SWITCH CONTROL CIRCUITS

- Disconnect both left pod switch connectors. Disconnect Natural body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary.
- Using an external ohmmeter, measure resistance of dimming level sense circuit between Black left pod switch connector terminal No. 1 (Orange/Black wire) and Natural body controller connector terminal No. 20. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Orange/Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance of system ground in Gray left pod switch connector terminal No. 1 (Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, measure resistance of system ground in Black left pod switch connector terminal No. 6 (Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace body controller.
TEST 8E - REPAIRING SHORT TO GROUND IN PANEL LIGHTS FEED CIRCUIT

- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect left pod switch. Remove park light relay from power distribution center. Remove fuse No. 9 from fuse block. Place DRB-II in ohmmeter mode. Measure resistance of output circuit at park light relay connector Black/Yellow wire.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Black/Yellow wire and replace fuse No. 22. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, measure resistance of control circuit at park light relay connector Brown/Orange wire.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Brown/Orange wire and replace fuse No. 22. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, measure resistance of fused battery feed circuit at park light relay connector Pink/Red wire.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Pink/Red wire and replace fuse No. 22. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace fuse No. 22.
TEST 8F - REPAIRING OPEN IN PANEL LIGHTS FEED CIRCUIT

- Reinstall fuse No. 9. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Natural body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary.
- Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, measure voltage of fused park light relay output circuit at Natural body controller connector terminal No. 16 (Tan wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to step 4). If voltage is more than 10 volts, disconnect left pod switch connectors.
- Using an external ohmmeter measure resistance between terminals No. 1 and No. 6 of left pod switch. If while moving dimmer control from low to high, resistance does not range from less than 2000 ohms to more than 9000 ohms, replace left pod switch. If while moving dimmer control from low to high, resistance ranges from less than 2000 ohms to more than 9000 ohms, replace body controller.
- Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, measure voltage of Black/Yellow wire (in fuse block) to fuse No. 9. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open in Tan wire between fuse and body controller. If voltage is less than 10 volts, disconnect jumper wire at relay center.
- Using an external ohmmeter, measure resistance of park light relay output circuit between fuse No. 9 (Black/Yellow wire) and park light relay. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black/Yellow wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace park light relay.
TEST 9A - ELECTRO/MECHANICAL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DIAGNOSTICS

- Using DRB-II, read instrument cluster I.D. status. If DRB-II displays EIC/US, go to next step. If DRB-II does not display EIC/US, identify instrument cluster problem and perform test as specified. - Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect MIC connector. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Connect a jumper wire between MIC connector terminal No. 3 (Orange/Dark Blue wire) and ground.
- Using DRB-II, read cluster ID switch status. If DRB-II does not display EIC/US, replace MIC. If DRB-II displays EIC/US, gain access to body controller. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel.
- Connect a jumper wire between Natural body controller connector terminal No. 5 (Orange/Dark Blue wire) and ground. If DRB-II does not display EIC/US, repair open Orange/Dark Blue or Light Blue wire. If DRB-II displays EIC/US, replace body controller.
TEST 10A - IDENTIFYING FAULTY GAUGE ON ELECTRO/MECHANICAL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER

- If all gauges are inoperative, go to TEST 12D. If one or more gauge is okay, actuate faulty gauge in Electro/Mechanical Instrument Cluster (MIC) using DRB-II. This should actuate gauge from LO to HI, and then return it to its original position. If more than one gauge actuated, go to TEST 10B. If tested gauge did not actuate, go to TEST 10C.
- If tested gauge did actuate, stop faulty gauge actuation test. Identify faulty gauge and go to appropriate test. - Stop faulty gauge actuation test. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Mechanical Instrument Cluster (MIC) connector. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of low MIC sense circuit between MIC connector terminal No. 3 (Orange/Dark Blue wire) and Natural body controller connector terminal No. 10 (Orange/Dark Blue wire).
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Orange/Dark Blue wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check resistance of high MIC sense circuit between MIC connector terminal No. 5 (Light Blue wire) and Natural body controller connector terminal No. 12 (Light Blue wire).
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Light Blue wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace body controller.
TEST 10C - REPAIRING OPEN GROUND TO ELECTRO/MECHANICAL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER

- Stop faulty gauge actuation test. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Mechanical Instrument Cluster (MIC) connector.
- Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of signal ground circuit at MIC connector terminal No. 7 (Black/Light Green wire). If resistance is more than 100 ohms, repair open Black/Light Green wire.
- If resistance is less than 100 ohms, remove faulty gauge and inspect MIC printed circuit. If MIC printed circuit is okay, replace faulty gauge. If MIC printed is defective, replace MIC printed circuit.
TEST 11A - ELECTRO/MECHANICAL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ODOMETER FAILURE

- Using DRB-II, read electronic instrument cluster faults. If fault 08 (odometer test failure) exists, replace body controller. If fault 08 does not exist, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Mechanical Instrument Cluster (MIC) connector. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary.
- Check if odometer is original equipment. If odometer assembly has not previously been replaced, replace odometer assembly. If odometer assembly has been replaced previously, replace printed circuit board.

- If vehicle is equipped with a base MIC, go to TEST 12B. If vehicle is equipped with a premium MIC and CHECK GAUGES light is on at all times, go to TEST 12D. If vehicle is equipped with a premium MIC and CHECK GAUGES light is not on at all times, actuate sequential light test using DRB-II.

- If CHECK GAUGES light is on at all times, go to TEST 12D. If CHECK GAUGES light is not on at all times, actuate sequential light test using DRB-II. If sequential light test did not pass, stop actuation of sequential light test and go to TEST 12C. - If vehicle has coolant temperature, oil pressure or charging system problem, repair appropriate system. If vehicle does not have coolant temperature, oil pressure or charging system problem, turn ignition off.
- Disconnect Mechanical Instrument Cluster (MIC) connector. Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, measure voltage of CCD bus positive circuit at MIC connector terminal No. 10 (Violet/Brown wire). If voltage is less than one volt, repair open circuit in Violet/Brown wire.
- If voltage is more than one volt, measure voltage of CCD bus negative circuit at MIC connector terminal No. 9 (White/Black wire). If voltage is less than one volt, repair open circuit in CCD bus negative wire.
- If voltage is more than one volt, use DRB-II in ohmmeter mode to measure resistance of signal ground circuit at MIC connector terminal No. 7 (Black/Light Green wire). If resistance is more than 100 ohms, repair open Black/Light Green wire.
- If resistance is less than 100 ohms, use DRB-II in voltmeter mode to measure voltage of fused ignition feed circuit at MIC connector terminal No. 11 (Dark Blue/White wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to TEST 48B.
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, measure voltage of fused battery feed circuit at MIC connector terminal No. 2 (Pink wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace MIC.
- If voltage is less than 10 volts, remove and inspect fuse No. 3. If fuse is blown, go to TEST 48C. If fuse is okay, reinstall fuse No. 3 and measure voltage of battery feed circuit (Black/Red wire), in fuse block, to fuse No. 3.
- If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Black/Red wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Pink wire between fuse No. 3 and MIC.
TEST 13A - REPAIRING DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT
- Ensure all doors and liftgate are adjusted and aligned. Close all doors. Using DRB-II, read left front door ajar switch status. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, go to TEST 40A. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, open left front door. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, go to TEST 40A.
- If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, use DRB-II to read right front door ajar switch status. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, go to TEST 41A. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, open right front door. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, go to TEST 41A.
- If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, read side door ajar switch status using DRB-II. If DRB-II displays or does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, go to TEST 42A.
TEST 14A - REPAIRING VOLTAGE GAUGE OR VOLTAGE LIGHT PROBLEM

- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Blue body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary.
- Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, measure voltage of fused battery feed circuit at Blue body controller connector terminal No. 16 (Pink wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Pink wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace body controller.
TEST 15A - DIAGNOSING COMPASS/MINI-TRIP MODULE FAULTS
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. If compass/mini-trip screen is blank, go to TEST 15B. If compass/mini-trip screen displays "OC" or "SC", go to TEST 16A. If compass/mini-trip screen does not display "OC" or "SC", actuate field strength test using DRB-II. NOTE: On compass/mini-trip screen, number 8 normally follows a letter; however, a reading can be 0-15.
- If compass/mini-trip screen does not display "N8", "W8" and then "D1", replace compass/mini-trip module. If compass/mini-trip screen displays "N8", "W8" and then "D1", actuate internal test using DRB-II.
- If compass/mini-trip screen does not display a blank screen and then "D2", replace compass/mini-trip module. If compass/mini-trip screen displays a blank screen and then "D2", actuate "VF" display test using DRB-II.
- All compass/mini-trip screen segments should light and then "D3" should be displayed. If compass/mini-trip does not function as specified, replace compass/mini-trip module. If all compass/mini-trip screen segments light and then "D3" is displayed, read compass/mini-trip faults using DRB-II.
- If any fault messages exist, replace compass/mini-trip module. If no fault messages exist, check for a compass/mini-trip illumination problem. If a problem exists, go to TEST 8A. If a problem with compass/mini-trip illumination does not exist, check if ECO (average MPG) is inoperative or wrong. If a problem exists with ECO (average MPG), go to TEST 17A.
- If no problems exist with ECO (average MPG), check if ECO (MPG) is inoperative or wrong. If a problem exists with ECO (MPG), go to TEST 17A. If no problems exist with ECO (MPG), check if "ET" (elapsed time) is inoperative. If a problem exists with "ET", go to TEST 18A. If no problems exist with "ET", check if trip odometer is inoperative or wrong.
- If a problem exists with trip odometer, replace compass/mini-trip module. If no problems exist with trip odometer, go to TEST 45A. TEST 45A is for inoperative or inaccurate DTE (distance to empty) only.
TEST 15B - DIAGNOSING BLANK SCREEN COMPASS/MINI-TRIP MODULE

- Press step button one time. If compass/mini-trip screen is not blank, restart TEST 15A. If compass/mini-trip screen is still blank, gain access to compass/mini-trip module connector. Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, backprobe fused ignition feed circuit at compass/mini-trip module connector terminal No. 7 (Tan wire).
- If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to step 4). If voltage is more than 10 volts, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect compass/mini-trip module connector. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary.
- Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance of system ground at compass/mini-trip module connector terminal No. 5 (Black/Light Green wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black/Light Green wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to TEST 15C.
- If voltage is less than 10 volts in step 2), remove circuit breaker No. 25 from fuse panel. Probe Black/White wire (in fuse block) to circuit breaker No. 25. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to step 7). If voltage is less than 10 volts, access ignition switch.
- Backprobe ignition feed (run/acc) circuit at ignition switch connector terminal No. 6 (Black/White wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open in Black/White wire. If voltage is less than 10 volts, backprobe battery feed circuit at ignition switch connector terminal No. 7 (Red wire).
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace ignition switch. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Red wire.
- Disconnect compass/mini-trip module connector. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance of fused ignition feed circuit at circuit breaker No. 25 (Tan wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Tan wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace circuit breaker.

- Reconnect compass/mini-trip module. Disconnect compass/mini-trip module 5-pin button assembly connector. (Scheme 48) Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Momentarily connect a jumper wire between terminals No. 1 and No. 2.
- If compass/mini-trip screen is still blank, replace compass/mini-trip module. If compass/mini-trip screen is not blank, replace button assembly.
TEST 16A - DIAGNOSING EXTERNAL TEMPERATURE SENSOR

- Turn ignition switch to ON position. If compass/mini-trip screen displays "OC", go to step 5). If compass/mini-trip screen does not display "OC", turn ignition switch to OFF position. - If compass/mini-trip screen does not display "OC", turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect compass/mini-trip module connector. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance of temperature sensor signal circuit at compass/mini-trip module connector terminal No. 5 (Violet/Light Green wire).
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Violet/Light Green wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, use external ohmmeter to measure resistance between terminals No. 5 (Violet/Light Green wire) and No. 4 (Black/Light Blue wire).
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Violet/Light Green for a short to Black/Light Blue wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace compass/mini-trip module.
- If compass/mini-trip screen displays "OC" in step 1), turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect external temperature sensor. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Connect a jumper wire between external temperature sensor connector terminals. Turn ignition switch to ON position.
- If compass/mini-trip screen displays "SC", replace external temperature sensor. If compass/mini-trip screen does not display "SC", turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect jumper wire. Disconnect compass/mini-trip module. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary.
- Connect a jumper wire between Violet/Light Green and Black/Light Blue wires of external temperature sensor connector and ground. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance of temperature sensor signal circuit at compass/mini-trip module connector terminal No. 5 (Violet/Light Green wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Violet/Light Green wire.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, with jumper wire still connected, measure resistance of temperature sensor return circuit compass/mini-trip module connector terminal No. 4 (Black/Light Blue wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black/Light Blue wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace compass/mini-trip module.
TEST 17A - DIAGNOSING ECO (MPG) FUNCTION-COMPASS/MINI-TRIP MODULE

- Raise and support vehicle. Start engine and place in Drive (1st gear on manual transmission). Using DRB-II, read VSS as vehicle speed is increased. If DRB-II does not display correct vehicle speed, see appropriate G - TESTS W/ CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. If DRB-II displays correct vehicle speed, turn engine off with ignition on. Using DRB-II, read Powertrain Control Module (PCM) status.

TEST 19 - DIAGNOSING POWER DOOR LOCK CIRCUIT
Diagnostics for power door locks and rolling door lock systems are separated into 7 groups. Verify failure(s) or customer complaint and ensure vehicle is experiencing failure(s) or complaint at this time. See DIAGNOSING POWER DOOR LOCK CIRCUIT table, and perform appropriate test.

TEST 19A - DIAGNOSING POWER DOOR LOCK CIRCUIT

- Using DRB-II, actuate auto door locks. If doors lock, go to step 4). If doors do not lock, turn ignition off and remove key. NOTE: Ensure left front door is open and key is removed from ignition switch.
- Using DRB-II, read key-in ignition status. If DRB-II does not display KEY IN IGN:OPEN, go to TEST 39B. If DRB-II displays KEY IN IGN:OPEN, disconnect Blue body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel.
- Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, measure voltage of switched battery feed circuit at Blue body controller connector terminal No. 8 (Orange/Violet wire). Monitor DRB-II voltage while depressing each power door lock switch to LOCK position. If voltage is more than 10 volts when each switch is depressed, replace body controller. If voltage is less than 10 volts when each switch is depressed, go to next step.
- Stop auto door lock actuation. Gain access to body controller. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, backprobe door lock relay control circuit at Blue body controller connector terminal No. 17 (Orange/White wire). If voltage does not pulsate between zero and more than 10 volts, replace body controller.
- If voltage pulsates between zero and more than 10 volts, stop auto door lock actuation. Disconnect door lock relay. Measure voltage of door lock relay control circuit at door lock relay connector terminal No. 9 (Orange/White wire). CAUTION: DO NOT touch grounded bus bar with DRB-II probe while checking voltage. Component damage may occur.
- Using DRB-II, actuate auto door locks and monitor DRB-II voltage. If voltage does not pulsate between zero and more than 10 volts, repair open Orange/White wire.
- If voltage pulsates between zero and more than 10 volts, stop auto door lock actuation. Measure voltage of fused battery feed circuit at door lock relay connector terminal No. 10 (Red wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Red wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance of lock relay ground circuit at door lock relay connector terminal No. 8 (Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black wire.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, measure resistance of switch door lock motor feed circuit at door lock relay connector terminal No. 6 (Orange/Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace door lock relay.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, measure resistance of system ground circuit at door unlock relay connector terminal No. 12 (Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace door unlock relay.
TEST 19B - DIAGNOSING POWER DOOR LOCK CIRCUIT

- If problem is with unlock function, go to step 4). If problem is not with unlock function, turn ignition off. Gain access to inoperative door lock switch.
- Disconnect Blue body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Using an external ohmmeter, measure resistance of switched battery feed circuit between Blue body controller connector terminal No. 8 (Orange/Violet wire) and power lock switch Orange/Violet wire.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Orange/Violet wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace open door lock switch.
- Turn ignition off and gain access to inoperative door lock switch. Using an external ohmmeter, measure resistance of switched battery feed circuit between door unlock relay connector terminal No. 14 (Pink/Violet wire) and power lock switch Pink/Violet wire.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Pink/Violet wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace open door lock switch.
TEST 19C - DIAGNOSING DOOR UNLOCK CIRCUIT

- Monitor DRB-II voltage while depressing each power door lock switch to UNLOCK position. If voltage is less than 10 volts when each switch is depressed, go to TEST 19B. If voltage is more than 10 volts when each switch is depressed, go to next step.
- Measure voltage of fused battery feed circuit at door unlock relay connector terminal No. 15 (Red wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Red wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance of unlock relay ground circuit at door lock relay connector terminal No. 13 (Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black wire.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, measure resistance of switched door unlock motor feed circuit at door unlock relay connector terminal No. 11 (Pink/Black). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace door unlock relay.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, measure resistance of system ground circuit at door lock relay connector terminal No. 7 (Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace door lock relay.
TEST 19D - DIAGNOSING DOOR UNLOCK CIRCUIT

If fuse is okay, use DRB-II in voltmeter mode to measure voltage of battery feed circuit (Black/Red wire) to fuse No. 3 in fuse panel.
- If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair Black/Red wire as necessary. If voltage is more than 10 volts, reinstall fuse No. 3. Remove driver's door panel to gain access to left door lock switch.
- Measure voltage of fused battery feed circuit at left door lock switch (Pink wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Pink wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace left door lock switch.
- Turn ignition off. Remove and inspect fuse No. 24. If fuse is blown, go to step 8). If fuse is okay, use DRB-II in voltmeter mode to measure voltage of battery feed circuit (Red/White wire) to fuse No. 24 in fuse panel.
- If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair Red/White wire as necessary. If voltage is more than 10 volts, reinstall fuse No. 24. Measure voltage of fused battery feed circuit at door lock relay connector terminal No. 10 (Red wire).
- If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Red wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, disconnect lock and unlock relays. Using an external ohmmeter, measure resistance of switched door lock/unlock motor feed circuit between door lock relay connector terminal No. 6 (Orange/Black wire) and terminal No. 11 (Pink/Black wire).
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in switched door lock/unlock motor feed circuit. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace lock and unlock relays.
- Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance of battery feed circuit (Red/White wire) to fuse No. 24 in fuse block. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Red/White wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, disconnect lock and unlock relays.
- Measure resistance of switched door lock motor feed circuit. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in switched door lock/unlock motor feed circuit. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace fuse No. 24.
TEST 19F - DIAGNOSING DOOR LOCK & UNLOCK CIRCUIT

- Turn ignition off. Remove appropriate door panel to gain access to inoperative door lock switch. Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, measure voltage of fused battery feed circuit at door lock switch (Pink wire).
- If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Pink wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, measure voltage of switched battery feed circuit at door lock switch (Pink/Violet wire).
- Monitor DRB-II voltage while depressing power door lock switch to LOCK position. If voltage is more than 10 volts when switch is depressed, replace defective door lock switch. If voltage is less than 10 volts when switch is depressed, repair open Pink/Violet wire and Orange/Violet wire.
TEST 20A - DIAGNOSING AUTO DOOR LOCKS
- Using DRB-II, read auto door locks status. If DRB-II does not display AUTO DOOR LOCKS ARE ENABLED, use DRB-II to enable auto door locks and retest system. If DRB-II displays AUTO DOOR LOCKS ARE ENABLED, use DRB-II to actuate auto door locks.
- If doors do not lock, go to TEST 19A. If doors lock, ensure left front door is closed. Read door ajar switch status. If DRB-II does not display LFDOOR AJAR:OPEN, go to TEST 40A.
- If DRB-II displays LFDOOR AJAR:OPEN, ensure right front door is closed. Read door ajar switch status. If DRB-II does not display RFDOOR AJAR:OPEN, go to TEST 41A.
- If DRB-II displays RFDOOR AJAR:OPEN, ensure side door is closed. Read door ajar switch status. If DRB-II does not display SIDE DR AJR:OPEN, go to TEST 42A.
- If DRB-II displays SIDE DR AJR:OPEN, ensure liftgate is closed. Read door ajar switch status. If DRB-II does not display GATE AJAR:OPEN, go to TEST 43A.
- If DRB-II displays GATE AJAR:OPEN, read body controller monitors. If TPS percentage does not increase as throttle is opened, see appropriate G - TESTS W/ CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section to diagnose TPS faults. If TPS percentage increases as throttle is opened, raise and support vehicle.
- Start engine and shift vehicle into Drive (1st gear on manual transmission). Using DRB-II, read body controller monitors. If MPH does not increase as throttle is opened, see appropriate G - TESTS W/ CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section to diagnose VSS faults. If MPH increases as throttle is opened, turn ignition off and retest system. Circuit is okay.
TEST 21A - DIAGNOSING SIDE DOOR MEMORY LOCK
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.

- Turn ignition on and ensure left front door is open and side door is closed. Using DRB-II, actuate auto door locks. If side door does not lock, go to step 5). If side door locks, stop door lock actuation.
- Ensure side door is closed and read door ajar switch status. If DRB-II does not display SIDE DR AJAR:OPEN, go to TEST 42A.
- If DRB-II displays SIDE DR AJAR:OPEN, open side door. Read door ajar switch status. If DRB-II does not display SIDE DR AJAR:CLOSED, go to TEST 42A. NOTE: Left front door MUST be open in following steps.
- If DRB-II displays SIDE DR AJAR:CLOSED, turn ignition off and remove key. Read key-in ignition status. If DRB-II does not display KEY IN IGN:OPEN, go to TEST 39B. If DRB-II displays KEY IN IGN:OPEN, replace body controller. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel.
- Stop door lock actuation. If front doors do not lock, go to TEST 19A. If front doors lock, repair side door lock circuit.
TEST 22 - DIAGNOSING INTERMITTENT WIPER PROBLEM
Diagnostics for windshield wiper system are separated into 4 groups. Verify failure(s) or customer complaint and ensure vehicle is experiencing failure(s) or customer complaint at this time. See DIAGNOSING INTERMITTENT WIPER PROBLEM table and perform appropriate test.
Note. If wipers do not operate in low or high mode, see appropriate WIPER/WASHER SYSTEMS article in the ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT Section.
DIAGNOSING INTERMITTENT WIPER PROBLEM
TEST 22A - IDENTIFYING INTERMITTENT WIPER PROBLEM
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.

- Using DRB-II, actuate wiper motor. If wipers operate during actuation, go to TEST 22B. If wipers do not operate during actuation, gain access to body controller. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel.
- Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, backprobe intermittent wiper control circuit at Blue body control module connector terminal No. 24 (Dark Green wire). While probe is connected, actuate wiper motor using DRB-II. If voltage pulsates from more than 10 volts to less than 5 volts, go to step 4). If voltage does not pulsate from more than 10 volts to less than 5 volts, turn ignition switch to OFF position.
- Disconnect Blue body controller connector. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Measure voltage of fused ignition feed circuit at Blue body controller connector terminal No. 22 (Dark Blue wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Dark Blue wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace body controller.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Gain access to multifunction switch connector. Clean or repair connector as necessary. Turn ignition on and backprobe intermittent wiper control circuits at terminal No. 7 and terminal No. 8 (Dark Green wires). While probe is connected, actuate wiper motor using DRB-II.
- If voltage does not pulsate from more than 10 volts to less than 5 volts, repair open in appropriate Dark Green wire. If voltage pulsates from more than 10 volts to less than 5 volts, replace multifunction switch.
TEST 22B - DIAGNOSING INTERMITTENT WIPER PROBLEM
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.

- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Gain access to body controller. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Disconnect Blue body controller connector. Turn ignition on.
- Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, measure voltage of intermittent wiper level sense circuit at Blue body controller connector terminal No. 9 (Dark Green/Yellow wire). With probe connected, slide wiper switch to each intermittent mode. If voltage is present in each intermittent mode, replace body controller. If voltage is not present in each intermittent mode, turn ignition off.
- Disconnect multifunction switch. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of intermittent wiper level sense circuit (Dark Green/Yellow wire) between Blue body controller connector terminal No. 9 and multifunction switch connector terminal No. 1.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace multifunction switch. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Dark Green/Yellow wire.
TEST 23A - DIAGNOSING WASHER PUMP PROBLEM
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.

- Disconnect washer pump motor connector. Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, probe washer pump switched ignition feed circuit at washer pump connector (Brown wire).
- With probe connected, engage washers. If voltage is more than 10 volts while engaging switch, go to step 4). If voltage is less than 10 volts while engaging switch, measure voltage of switched ignition feed circuit at multifunction switch connector terminal No. 3 (Brown wire).
- With probe connected, engage washers. If voltage is more than 10 volts while engaging switch, repair open Brown wire. If voltage is less than 10 volts while engaging switch, replace multifunction switch.
- Turn ignition off. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance of washer pump motor system ground at washer pump connector (Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace washer pump motor.
TEST 24A - DIAGNOSING WIPER PROBLEM DURING WASH CYCLE
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.
- If wipers do not operate in intermittent mode, go to TEST 22A. If wipers operate in intermittent mode, gain access to body controller. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel.
- Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, backprobe washer pump switch sense circuit at Blue body controller connector terminal No. 10 (Brown wire). With probe connected, engage washers. If voltage is more than 10 volts while engaging switch, replace body controller.
- If voltage is less than 10 volts while engaging switch, gain access to multifunction switch connector. Backprobe switched ignition feed circuit at multifunction switch connector terminal No. 3 (Brown wire).
- With probe connected, engage washers. If voltage is more than 10 volts while engaging switch, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts while engaging switch, replace multifunction switch.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect multifunction switch connector. Disconnect Blue body controller connector. Using an external ohmmeter, measure resistance of washer pump switched ignition feed circuit (Brown wire) between Blue body controller connector terminal No. 10 and multifunction switch connector terminal No. 3.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Brown wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace body controller.
TEST 24B - DIAGNOSING WIPER PARK SWITCH
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.

- Turn ignition off. Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, backprobe park switch sense circuit at wiper motor connector (Dark Green wire). Turn ignition on and wiper switch to LO position.
- If voltage does not pulsate during wiper operation, go to step 5). If voltage pulsates during wiper operation, turn ignition off. Disconnect wiper motor connector.
- Disconnect Blue body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Using an external ohmmeter, measure resistance of park switch sense circuit (Dark Green wire) between Blue body controller terminal No. 20 and wiper motor connector Dark Green wire.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Dark Green wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace body controller.
- Turn wiper switch off. Disconnect wiper motor connector. Turn ignition on. Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, probe fused ignition feed circuit at wiper motor connector (Dark Blue wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Dark Blue wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace wiper motor.
TEST 25A - DIAGNOSING ILLUMINATED ENTRY SYSTEM
Note. Liftgate lights are not a part of this system.
- Move dimmer control lever to center position. Turn courtesy lights on by opening left front door. If courtesy lights are off, go to TEST 28A. If only one light is inoperative, go to TEST 40A. If courtesy lights are on, lower left front window.
- Close all doors. Manually lock left front door. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Wait 60 seconds. Actuate illuminated entry system by lifting left front door handle. If courtesy lights are off, go to TEST 26A. If lights are on, lower right front window.
- Close all doors. Manually lock right front door. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Wait 60 seconds. Actuate illuminated entry system by lifting right front door handle. If courtesy lights are off, go to TEST 26B. If lights are on, system is okay at this time.
TEST 26A - DIAGNOSING LEFT FRONT DOOR ILLUMINATED ENTRY SWITCH

- Gain access to body control module. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, backprobe illuminated entry sense circuit at Blue body controller connector terminal No. 7 (White wire). If voltage is less than 4 volts, go to TEST 27A. If voltage is more than 4 volts, go to next step.
- With probe connected, lift and hold left door handle. If voltage is less than 4 volts, replace body controller. If voltage is more than 4 volts, go to next step.
- Remove left front door panel and disconnect illuminated entry switch connector. Connect jumper wire between illuminated entry switch connector terminal No. 1 (Black wire) and terminal No. 2 (White wire). If courtesy lights illuminate, replace left door illuminated entry switch.
- If courtesy lights do not illuminate, connect jumper wire between illuminated entry switch connector terminal No. 2 (White wire) and ground. If courtesy lights illuminate, repair open in Black wire between illuminated entry switch connector and ground. If courtesy lights do not illuminate, repair open in White wire.
TEST 26B - DIAGNOSING RIGHT FRONT DOOR ILLUMINATED ENTRY SWITCH

- Gain access to body control module. Body controller is located under right side of instrument panel. Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, backprobe illuminated entry sense circuit at Blue body controller connector terminal No. 7 (White wire). If voltage is less than 4 volts, go to TEST 27A. If voltage is more than 4 volts, go to next step.
- With probe connected, lift and hold right door handle. If voltage is less than 4 volts, replace body controller. If voltage is more than 4 volts, go to next step.
- Remove right front door panel and disconnect illuminated entry switch connector. Connect jumper wire between illuminated entry switch connector terminal No. 1 (Black wire) and terminal No. 2 (White wire). If courtesy lights illuminate, replace right door illuminated entry switch.
- If courtesy lights do not illuminate, connect jumper wire between illuminated entry switch connector terminal No. 2 (White wire) and ground. If courtesy lights illuminate, repair open in Black wire between illuminated entry switch connector and ground. If courtesy lights do not illuminate, repair open in White wire.
TEST 27A - REPAIRING ILLUMINATED ENTRY SHORT TO GROUND

- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Blue body controller connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance of illuminated entry sense circuit at Blue body controller connector terminal No. 7 (White wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace body controller. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Remove front left door panel. Disconnect illuminated entry switch harness connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Measure resistance of sense circuit at illuminated entry switch connector terminal No. 1 (White wire).
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace left door illuminated entry switch. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, remove right door panel. Disconnect illuminated entry switch harness connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed.
- Measure resistance of sense circuit at illuminated entry switch connector terminal No. 1 (White wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace right door illuminated entry switch. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in White wire.
TEST 28 - DIAGNOSING COURTESY LIGHT SYSTEM

- Using DRB-II, actuate courtesy lights. If courtesy lights cycle on and off, go to TEST 29A. If courtesy lights do not cycle on and off, go to next step.
- Access left pod switch Black connector. Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, measure voltage of fused battery feed circuit at left pod switch Black connector terminal No. 4 (Pink wire).
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to step 5). If voltage is less than 10 volts, remove and inspect fuse No. 3 in fuse block. If fuse is blown, go to TEST 28B. If fuse is okay, measure voltage of battery feed circuit at fuse No. 3 (Black/Red wire).
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Black/Red wire. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair Pink wire as necessary.
- With dimmer control lever in center position, measure voltage of courtesy light switched supply circuit at left pod switch Black connector terminal No. 5 (Pink/Light Blue wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace left pod switch.
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, gain access to rear dome light terminals. Measure voltage of courtesy light switched supply circuit at dome light connector (Pink/Light Blue wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Pink/Light Blue wire.
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, measure voltage of courtesy light control circuit at dome light connector (Yellow wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace open bulb. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Yellow wire.
TEST 28B - DIAGNOSING COURTESY LIGHT BATTERY FEED CIRCUIT
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.
Note. Ensure vanity mirror, glove box and under seat lights are off. All doors MUST be closed during the following test steps.

- Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance of fused battery feed circuit at fuse No. 3 (Pink wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace fuse. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, disconnect Black left pod switch connector.
- Measure resistance at fuse No. 3 (Pink wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to step 4). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, measure resistance of switched battery feed circuit at Black left pod switch connector terminal No. 5 (Pink/Light Blue wire).
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Pink/Light Blue wire and replace fuse No. 3. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace left pod switch and fuse No. 3.
- Disconnect body controller connectors. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Ensure probe is still connected to fuse No. 3 (Pink wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace body controller and fuse No. 3.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, disconnect instrument cluster connector. Measure resistance at fuse No. 3 (Pink wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair or replace instrument cluster and replace fuse. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, disconnect radio.
- Measure resistance at fuse No. 3 (Pink wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace radio and fuse. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Pink wire and replace fuse No. 3.
TEST 29A - COURTESY LIGHT DOOR SWITCHES

- Using DRB-II, stop courtesy light actuation. Open left front door. Using DRB-II, read left front door ajar switch status. If DRB-II does not display LFDOOR AJAR:CLOSED, go to TEST 40A. If DRB-II displays LFDOOR AJAR:CLOSED, go to next step.
- Open right front door. Using DRB-II, read right front door ajar switch status. If DRB-II does not display RFDOOR AJAR:CLOSED, go to TEST 41A. If DRB-II displays RFDOOR AJAR:CLOSED, go to next step.
- Open side door. Using DRB-II, read side door ajar switch status. If DRB-II does not display SIDE DR AJR:CLOSED, go to TEST 42A. If DRB-II displays SIDE DR AJR:CLOSED, go to next step.
- Open liftgate door. Using DRB-II, read gate ajar switch status. If DRB-II does not display GATE AJAR:CLOSED, go to TEST 41A. If DRB-II displays GATE AJAR:CLOSED, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Gain access to body controller, located under left side of instrument panel. Disconnect Blue body controller connector. Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, measure voltage of fused battery feed circuit at Blue body controller connector terminal No. 16 (Pink wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Pink wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace body controller.
TEST 30A - DIAGNOSING COURTESY LIGHT CONTROL CIRCUIT
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.

- If rear overhead console lights are only lights inoperative, go to step 4). Gain access to any inoperative courtesy lights. Replace any open bulbs. If bulbs are not open, measure voltage of switched battery feed circuit (Pink/Light Blue wire) at each inoperative bulb using DRB-II in voltmeter mode. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Pink/Light Blue wire to bulb. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Gain access to body controller, located under left side of instrument panel. Disconnect Blue body controller connector. Using an external ohmmeter, measure resistance of courtesy light control circuit (Yellow wire) between Blue body controller connector terminal No. 25 and courtesy light bulb connector.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Yellow wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, reconnect courtesy bulbs and body controller, then retest system.
- Gain access to overhead console lights. Replace any open bulbs. If bulbs are not open, measure voltage of switched battery feed circuit (Gray wire) at each inoperative bulb using DRB-II in voltmeter mode. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Gray wire to bulb. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Yellow wire.
TEST 31A - DIAGNOSING LEFT POD SWITCH
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.
- Gain access to Black left pod switch connector. Ensure all doors are closed. Connect jumper wire to switch sense circuit between Black left pod switch connector terminal No. 2 (Black/Light Blue wire) and ground. If courtesy lights illuminate, go to step 4). If courtesy lights do not illuminate, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off and disconnect Black left pod switch connector. Using an external ohmmeter, measure resistance of switch sense circuit (Black/Light Blue wire) between Blue body controller connector terminal No. 1 and Black left pod switch connector terminal No. 2.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace body controller. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair open in Black/Light Blue wire.
- Turn ignition off and disconnect Black left pod switch connector. Using an external ohmmeter, measure resistance of system ground circuit at Black left pod switch connector terminal No. 6. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace left pod switch.
TEST 32A - COURTESY LIGHTS ON AT ALL TIMES

- Ensure all doors are closed and dimmer switch on left pod switch is in center position. Using DRB-II, read door ajar switch status. If DRB-II does not display LFDOOR AJAR:OPEN, go to TEST 40A. If DRB-II displays LFDOOR AJAR:OPEN, go to next step.
- If DRB-II does not display RFDOOR AJAR:OPEN, go to TEST 41A. If DRB-II displays RFDOOR AJAR:OPEN, go to next step.
- If DRB-II does not display SIDE DR AJR:OPEN, go to TEST 42A. If DRB-II displays SIDE DR AJR:OPEN, go to next step.
- If DRB-II does not display GATE AJAR:OPEN, go to TEST 43A. If DRB-II displays GATE AJAR:OPEN, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Gain access to body controller, located under left side of instrument panel. Disconnect body controller connectors. If courtesy lights stay on all the time, repair short to ground in Yellow wire. If courtesy lights do not stay on all the time, go to next step.
- Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance of switch sense circuit at Blue body controller connector terminal No. 1 (Black/Light Blue wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace body controller. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect Black left pod switch connector. Measure resistance of switch sense circuit at Blue body controller connector terminal No. 1 (Black/Light Blue wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace left pod switch. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Black/Light Blue wire.
TEST 33A - DIAGNOSING KEY-IN LIGHT CIRCUIT

- Check courtesy lights. If courtesy lights are inoperative, go to TEST 28A. If courtesy lights are functioning properly, ensure all doors are closed. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Wait one minute.
- If key-in light is on constantly, go to step 4). If key-in light is not on constantly, open left front door. If key-in light does not light, go to TEST 33B. If key-in light does light, turn ignition switch to ON position.
- If key-in light does not turn off, replace body controller. If key-in light does turn off, system is operating okay at this time.
- Access body controller. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Disconnect Blue body controller connector. If key-in light does turn off, replace body controller. If key-in light does not turn off, disconnect key-in ignition switch connector. (Scheme 50) (Scheme 50): Locating Ignition Key Light & Key-In Ignition Connector
- Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance of key-in light control circuit at key-in ignition switch connector terminal No. 4 (Yellow/Red wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace ignition switch. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Yellow/Red wire.
TEST 33B - CHECKING FOR OPEN KEY-IN LIGHT CIRCUIT
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.

- Disconnect Blue body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary.
- Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, measure voltage of key-in light control circuit at Blue body controller connector terminal No. 19 (Yellow/Red wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace body controller. If voltage is less than 10 volts, gain access to key-in ignition switch connector. NOTE: Key-in ignition switch connector MUST remain connected during following steps.
- Measure voltage of key-in light control circuit at key-in ignition switch connector terminal No. 4 (Yellow/Red wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Yellow/Red wire. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Measure voltage of courtesy light switched supply circuit at key-in ignition switch connector terminal No. 3 (Pink/Light Blue wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Pink/Light Blue wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Remove key-in light bulb. Inspect bulb and socket. If bulb and socket are not okay, repair or replace as necessary. If socket is okay, replace key-in light bulb.
TEST 34A - HEADLIGHTS WILL NOT TURN OFF

- Ensure headlight switch is off. Disconnect Natural body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. If headlights go off, replace body controller.
- If headlights are still on, remove headlight low beam relay from power distribution center. If headlights are still on, go to step 5). If headlights go off, gain access to back of power distribution center.
- Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance of relay control circuit at low beam relay connector terminal No. 32 (Orange/White wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace headlight low beam relay. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, disconnect left pod switch assembly. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary.
- Measure resistance of relay control circuit at low beam relay connector terminal No. 32 (Orange/White wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Orange/White wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace left pod switch.
- If headlights did not go off in step 2), remove fuses No. 17 and 18. If both headlights go off, repair short to voltage in Violet/White wire between headlight low beam relay and fuses. If right headlight does not go off, repair short to voltage in Red/Orange wire between high beam relay and right headlight. If left headlight does not go off, repair short to voltage in Violet/White wire between high beam relay and left headlight.
TEST 35A - HEADLIGHT TIME DELAY INOPERATIVE

Note. This test is for vehicles equipped with compass/mini-trip computer.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Turn low beam headlights on. If park and headlights do not operate properly by headlight switch, check headlight switch circuit and repair as necessary.
- If park and headlights operate properly by headlight switch, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Turn headlights off. If headlights remain on for 60 seconds and then go off, headlight time delay circuit is operational and system should be retested.
- If headlights do not remain on for 60 seconds and then go off, disconnect Natural body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary.
- Connect a jumper wire between Natural body controller connector terminal No. 15 (Orange/White wire). Check headlights. If headlights are off, repair open Orange/White wire. If headlights are on, replace body controller.
TEST 36A - REPAIRING LIFTGATE RELEASE IGNITION FEED CIRCUIT

Note. Liftgate release will not work if liftgate is open or vehicle is moving. Ensure liftgate mechanical linkage is operating properly before proceeding with test.
- Turn ignition on and press liftgate release button. If liftgate solenoid operates, go to TEST 36B. If liftgate solenoid does not operate, read liftgate ajar switch status using DRB-II. If DRB-II does not display GATE AJAR:CLOSED, go to step 5).
- If DRB-II displays GATE AJAR:CLOSED, disconnect liftgate ajar switch connector. Read liftgate ajar switch status. If DRB-II does not display GATE AJAR:CLOSED, replace liftgate ajar switch.
- If DRB-II displays GATE AJAR:CLOSED, turn ignition off. Disconnect Natural body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary.
- Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance of liftgate ajar sense circuit at Natural body controller connector terminal No. 4 (Tan/Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace body controller. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Tan/Black wire.
- Remove and inspect fuse No. 8 from fuse block. If fuse is okay, go to step 7). If fuse is blown, turn ignition off. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance of fused ignition feed circuit at fuse No. 8 (White wire).
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in White wire and replace fuse No. 8. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace liftgate switch and fuse No. 8.
- Reinstall fuse No. 8. If vehicle is equipped with a manual transmission, go to next step. If vehicle is equipped with an automatic transmission, place transmission in Park. Using DRB-II, read park/neutral switch position. If DRB-II does not display P/N POSITION: P/N, see appropriate G - TESTS W CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section.
- If DRB-II displays P/N POSITION: P/N, use DRB-II to read Vehicle Speed Signal (VSS). If DRB-II displays a vehicle speed more than VSS: 0 MPH, see appropriate G - TESTS W CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. If DRB-II does not display a vehicle speed more than VSS: 0 MPH, go to next step.
- Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, measure voltage of fused ignition feed circuit at fuse No. 8 (White wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open White wire.
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, disconnect liftgate ajar switch connector. Measure voltage of battery feed circuit at liftgate ajar switch connector terminal No. 6 (Black/Red wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Black/Red wire.
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, measure voltage of fused ignition feed circuit at liftgate ajar switch connector terminal No. 4 (White wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open White wire.
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, turn ignition off. Disconnect body controller connectors. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary.
- Using an external ohmmeter, measure resistance of enable circuit (Brown/Light Blue wire) between Blue body controller connector terminal No. 18 and liftgate switch connector terminal No. 1. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Brown/Light Blue wire.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, measure resistance of liftgate release output circuit (Light Green/Black wire) between fuse No. 4 and liftgate switch connector terminal No. 5. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Light Green/Black wire.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, reconnect liftgate switch. Connect a jumper wire between Blue body controller connector terminal No. 18 and ground. If liftgate solenoid operates, go to TEST 36C. If liftgate solenoid does not operate, replace body controller.
TEST 36B - REPAIRING SHORTS IN LIFTGATE CONTROL CIRCUIT

- Turn ignition switch to ON position with engine off. Set parking brake. Place transmission gear selector in Drive. Press liftgate switch. If liftgate solenoid did not actuate, liftgate system is functioning properly.
- If liftgate solenoid actuated, disconnect Blue body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Press liftgate switch. If liftgate solenoid actuated, repair short to ground in Brown/Light Blue wire between Blue body controller connector and liftgate switch.
- If liftgate solenoid did not actuate and vehicle is not equipped with an A-604/41TE transaxle, go to appropriate G - TESTS W/ CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section for speed sensor testing. If liftgate solenoid did not actuate and vehicle is equipped with an A-604/41TE transaxle, reconnect Blue body controller connector.
- Using DRB-II, read park/neutral switch position. If DRB-II does not display P/N POSITION: P/N, replace body controller. If DRB-II displays P/N POSITION: P/N, disconnect park/neutral position switch at transaxle.
- Using DRB-II, read park/neutral switch position. If DRB-II does not display P/N POSITION: P/N, replace park/neutral position switch. If DRB-II displays P/N POSITION: P/N, turn ignition off.
- Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance of park/neutral switch sense circuit at PCM connector terminal No. 30 (wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Brown/Yellow wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace PCM.
TEST 36C - DIAGNOSING LIFTGATE RELEASE
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.

- Ensure jumper wire between Blue body controller connector terminal No. 18 (Brown/Light Blue wire) and ground is still connected. Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, measure voltage of output circuit at liftgate switch side of fuse No. 4 (Light Green/Black wire). While measuring voltage, press liftgate switch.
- If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace liftgate switch. If voltage is more than 10 volts, remove fuse No. 4. If fuse is okay, go to step 4). If fuse is blown, disconnect liftgate solenoid connector.
- Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance of fused output circuit at solenoid side of fuse No. 4. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Green/Black wire and replace fuse No. 4. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace liftgate solenoid and fuse No. 4.
- Reinstall fuse No. 4 and disconnect liftgate solenoid connector. Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, measure voltage of output circuit at liftgate solenoid connector (Light Green/Black wire).
- While measuring voltage, press liftgate switch. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Light Green/Black wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace liftgate solenoid.
TEST 37A - DIAGNOSING SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT CIRCUIT
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.

- Turn ignition switch to ON position. If seat belt warning light is on constantly, go to TEST 37B. If seat belt warning light is not on constantly, ensure left front seat belt is not fastened. Using DRB-II, read seat belt switch status. If DRB-II does not display SEAT BELT CLOSED, go to TEST 37C.
- If DRB-II displays SEAT BELT CLOSED, fasten left front seat belt. If DRB-II does not display SEAT BELT OPEN, go to TEST 37D. If DRB-II displays SEAT BELT OPEN, actuate seat belt warning light test using DRB-II. If seat belt warning light flashes, retest system. If seat belt warning light does not flash, turn ignition switch to OFF position.
- Disconnect Blue body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Turn ignition switch to ON position.
- Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, check voltage of seat belt switch output circuit at Blue body controller connector terminal No. 21 (Dark Blue/Red wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace body controller. If voltage is less than 10 volts, turn ignition switch to OFF position.
- Disconnect warning light connector at instrument cluster. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Check voltage of fused ignition feed circuit at warning light connector terminal No. 7 (Dark Blue/White wire).
- If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Dark Blue/White wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, inspect seat belt warning light bulb and connector. If bulb is blown or connector is damaged, repair as necessary. If bulb and connector are okay, repair open in Dark Blue/Red wire.
TEST 37B - CHECKING FOR SHORT IN SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT CIRCUIT

- Turn ignition switch to ON position. If seat belt warning light is off, replace body controller. If seat belt warning light is on, repair short to ground in seat belt switch output circuit (Dark Blue/Red wire).
TEST 37C - CHECKING FOR OPEN IN SEAT BELT SWITCH CIRCUIT

- Disconnect left front seat belt switch connector. Connector is located under left front seat. Connect a jumper wire between seat belt switch input circuit (Light Green/Red) and system ground circuit (Black wire) of seat belt switch connector. Using DRB-II, read seat belt switch status. If DRB-II displays SEAT BELT CLOSED, replace left front seat belt switch. If DRB-II does not display SEAT BELT CLOSED, disconnect jumper wire.
- Connect a jumper wire between seat belt switch input circuit (Light Green/Red wire) of seat belt switch connector and ground. If DRB-II displays SEAT BELT CLOSED, repair open in Black wire. If DRB-II does not display SEAT BELT CLOSED, gain access to body controller. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel.
- Connect a jumper wire between seat belt switch input circuit of Blue body controller connector at terminal No. 3 (Light Green/Red wire) and ground. If DRB-II displays SEAT BELT CLOSED, repair open in Light Green/Red wire. If DRB-II does not display SEAT BELT CLOSED, replace body controller.
TEST 37D - CHECKING FOR SHORT IN SEAT BELT SWITCH CIRCUIT

- Disconnect left front seat belt switch connector. Connector is located under left front seat. Using DRB-II, read seat belt switch status. If DRB-II does not display SEAT BELT CLOSED, replace left front seat belt switch. If DRB-II displays SEAT BELT CLOSED, turn ignition switch to OFF position.
- Disconnect Blue body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of seat belt switch input circuit at Blue body connector terminal No. 3 (Light Green/Red wire). If resistance is more than 10 ohms, replace body controller. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Green/Red wire.
TEST 38A - IDENTIFYING CHIME SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Diagnostics for chime system are separated into 3 groups: not chiming at all, chiming at all times or not chiming when it should. Each group diagnoses a problem system may experience. Verify customer complaint and ensure vehicle is experiencing problem at this time. Identify problem and proceed to appropriate test.
- If chime does not operate, go to TEST 38B. If chime operates at all times with seat belts buckled, go to TEST 38C. If chime operates at all times with driver's door open, go to TEST 38D.
- If chime does not operate with exterior lights on, ignition key removed and driver's door open, go to TEST 39A. If chime does not operate with ignition switch in OFF position, key in ignition and drivers's door open, go to TEST 39B.
- If chime does not operate with dome lights on, ignition key removed and driver's door open, go to TEST 39C. If chime does not operate with seat belt unbuckled and ignition switch in RUN position for 6 seconds, go to TEST 39D. If chime does not operate with left or right turn signal on for one mile at a speed greater than 15 MPH, go to TEST 39E.
TEST 38B - CHIME DOES NOT OPERATE
Close all doors. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRB-II, actuate chime test. If chime does not operate, replace body controller. Perform TEST VER-1. If chime operates, system is operating properly at this time. Perform TEST VER-1.
TEST 38C - DIAGNOSING CHIME WITH SEAT BELT BUCKLED

- Buckle driver's seat belt. Turn ignition switch to ON position. If chime operates for 6 seconds, system is operating properly at this time. If chime does not operate for 6 seconds, read seat belt switch status using DRB-II. If DRB-II displays SEAT BELT CLOSED, go to next step. If DRB-II does not display SEAT BELT CLOSED, replace body controller.
- Disconnect seat belt switch (located under driver's seat). Using DRB-II, read seat belt switch status. If DRB-II does not display SEAT BELT CLOSED, replace seat belt switch. If DRB-II displays SEAT BELT CLOSED, disconnect Blue body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel.
- Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of seat belt switch input circuit at Blue body controller connector terminal No. 3 (Light Green/Red wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace body controller. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Green/Red wire.
TEST 38D - DIAGNOSING CHIME WITH DRIVER'S DOOR OPEN

- Remove key from ignition, turn exterior lights off and open driver's door. If chime does not operate, system is operating properly at this time. If chime operates, use DRB-II to read key-in ignition status. If DRB-II displays KEY IN IGN:CLOSED, go to step 4).
- If DRB-II does not display KEY IN IGN:CLOSED, read panel light voltage using DRB-II. If voltage is zero volts, replace body controller. If voltage is more than zero volts, disconnect Natural body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel.
- Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, check voltage of fused park light relay output circuit at Natural body controller connector terminal No. 16 (Tan wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair short to battery voltage in Tan wire. If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace body controller.
- Disconnect key-in ignition switch connector (4-wire connector located at ignition switch). Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Using DRB-II, read key-in ignition status. If DRB-II displays KEY IN IGN:CLOSED, go to next step. If DRB-II does not display KEY IN IGN:CLOSED, replace body controller.
- Disconnect Blue body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of key-in ignition switch sense circuit at Blue body controller connector terminal No. 4 (Light Blue wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace body controller. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Blue wire.
TEST 39A - DIAGNOSING NO CHIME WITH HEADLIGHTS ON
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.
- Remove key from ignition, turn headlights on and open driver's door. If chime operates, system is operating properly at this time. If chime does not operate, read left front door ajar switch status using DRB-II. If DRB-II displays LFDOOR AJAR:CLOSED, go to next step. If DRB-II does not display LFDOOR AJAR:CLOSED, go to TEST 40A.
- Using DRB-II, read headlight status. If DRB-II does not display HEADLIGHTS ON, go to TEST 8A. If DRB-II displays HEADLIGHTS ON, use DRB-II to read ignition voltage. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to TEST 38B. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace body controller.
TEST 39B - DIAGNOSING NO CHIME WITH KEY IN IGNITION
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.
- Ensure key is in ignition switch. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Open driver's door. If chime operates, system is operating properly at this time. If chime does not operate, read left front door ajar switch status using DRB-II. If DRB-II does not display LFDOOR AJAR:CLOSED, go to TEST 40A.
- If DRB-II displays LFDOOR AJAR:CLOSED, read key-in ignition switch status using DRB-II. If DRB-II does not display KEY IN IGN:CLOSED, go to next step. If DRB-II displays KEY IN IGN:CLOSED, use DRB-II to read ignition voltage. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to TEST 38B. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace body controller.
- Disconnect key-in ignition switch connector (4-wire connector located at ignition switch). Connect a jumper wire between ignition switch input circuit (Light Blue wire) and system ground (Black wire) at key-in ignition switch connector. If DRB-II displays KEY IN IGN:CLOSED, replace ignition switch. If DRB-II does not display KEY IN IGN:CLOSED, connect a jumper wire between ignition switch input circuit (Light Blue wire) and ground. If DRB-II displays KEY IN IGN:CLOSED, repair open in Black wire.
- If DRB-II does not display KEY IN IGN:CLOSED, gain access to body controller. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Connect a jumper wire between key-in ignition switch input circuit at Blue body controller connector terminal No. 4 (Light Blue wire) and ground. If DRB-II displays KEY IN IGN:CLOSED, repair open in Light Blue wire. If DRB-II does not display KEY IN IGN:CLOSED, replace body controller.
TEST 39C - DIAGNOSING NO CHIME WITH DOME LIGHTS ON
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.
- Remove key from ignition, turn dome lights on and open driver's door. If chime operates, system is operating properly at this time. If chime does not operate, read left front door ajar switch status using DRB-II. If DRB-II displays LFDOOR AJAR:CLOSED, go to next step. If DRB-II does not display LFDOOR AJAR:CLOSED, go to TEST 40A.
- Using DRB-II, read dome light switch status. If DRB-II does not display DOME LIGHT SWITCH CLOSED, go to TEST 31A. If DRB-II displays DOME LIGHT SWITCH CLOSED, read ignition voltage using DRB-II. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to TEST 38B. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace body controller.
TEST 39D - DIAGNOSING NO CHIME WITH SEAT BELT UNBUCKLED
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.

- Unbuckle driver's seat belt. Turn ignition switch to ON position. If chime operates for 6 seconds, system is operating properly at this time. If chime does not operate for 6 seconds, read seat belt switch status using DRB-II. If DRB-II displays SEAT BELT CLOSED, go to next step. If DRB-II does not display SEAT BELT CLOSED, go to TEST 37C.
- Using DRB-II, read ignition voltage. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to TEST 38B. If voltage is less than 10 volts, disconnect Blue body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, check voltage of fused ignition feed circuit at Blue body controller connector terminal No. 12 (Dark Blue/White wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace body controller. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Dark Blue/White wire.
TEST 39E - DIAGNOSING NO CHIME WITH TURN SIGNALS ON
- Close all doors. If speedometer is not working properly, go to TEST 4A for Electronic Instrument Cluster, or TEST 10A for Electro/Mechanical Instrument Cluster. If speedometer is working properly, turn ignition switch to ON position. Ensure turn signals operate correctly. If turn signals operate correctly, go to next step. If turn signals do not operate correctly, check and repair system as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1A.
- Turn left turn signal on. Using DRB-II, read left turn signal status. If DRB-II does not display ON then OFF, go to TEST 39F. If DRB-II displays ON then OFF, turn right turn signal on. Using DRB-II, read right turn signal status. If DRB-II does not display ON then OFF, go to TEST 39G. If DRB-II displays ON then OFF, system is working properly at this time. Perform TEST VER-1.
TEST 39F - REPAIRING LEFT TURN SIGNAL CIRCUIT
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER 1A after each repair.

- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Blue body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, check voltage of left turn signal sense circuit at Blue body controller connector terminal No. 5 (Light Green wire).
- If voltage is pulsing between zero and 10 volts, replace body controller. If voltage is not pulsing between zero volt and 10 volts, repair open in Light Green wire.
TEST 39G - REPAIRING RIGHT TURN SIGNAL CIRCUIT
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.

- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Natural body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, check voltage of right turn signal sense circuit at Natural body controller connector terminal No. 14 (Tan wire).
- If voltage is pulsing between zero and 10 volts, replace body controller. If voltage is not pulsing between zero volt and 10 volts, repair open in Tan wire.
TEST 40A - DIAGNOSING DOOR AJAR CIRCUIT (LEFT FRONT DOOR)
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.

- Ensure left front door is aligned properly. Close all doors. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRB-II, read left front door ajar switch status. If DRB-II displays LFDOOR AJAR:OPEN, go to step 5). If DRB-II does not display LFDOOR AJAR:OPEN, open left front door.
- Using DRB-II, read door ajar switch status. If DRB-II displays LFDOOR AJAR:CLOSED, retest system. If DRB-II does not display LFDOOR AJAR:CLOSED, disconnect left front door ajar switch connector. Connector is located at lower left "B" pillar. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary.
- Connect a jumper wire between left door ajar sense circuit (Tan wire) at left front door ajar switch connector and ground. If DRB-II displays LFDOOR AJAR:CLOSED, replace left front door ajar switch.
- If DRB-II does not display LFDOOR AJAR:CLOSED, gain access to body controller. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Connect a jumper wire between left door ajar sense circuit at Blue body controller connector terminal No. 2 (Tan wire) and ground. If DRB-II displays LFDOOR AJAR:CLOSED, repair open in Tan wire. If DRB-II does not display LFDOOR AJAR:CLOSED, replace body controller.
- Disconnect left front door ajar switch connector. Connector is located at lower left "B" pillar. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. If DRB-II displays LFDOOR AJAR:OPEN, replace left front door ajar switch. If DRB-II does not display LFDOOR AJAR:OPEN, turn ignition switch to OFF position.
- Disconnect Blue body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of front door ajar sense circuit at Blue body controller connector terminal No. 2 (Tan wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Tan wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace body controller.
TEST 41A - DIAGNOSING DOOR AJAR CIRCUIT (RIGHT FRONT DOOR)

- Ensure right front door is aligned properly. Close all doors. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRB-II, read right front door ajar switch status. If DRB-II displays RFDOOR AJAR:OPEN, go to step 4). If DRB-II does not display RFDOOR AJAR:OPEN, open right front door. Using DRB-II, read door ajar switch status. If DRB-II displays RFDOOR AJAR:CLOSED, retest system.
- If DRB-II does not display RFDOOR AJAR:CLOSED, disconnect right front door ajar switch connector. Connector is located at lower right "B" pillar. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Connect a jumper wire between right door ajar sense circuit (Tan/Red wire) of right front door ajar switch connector and ground.
- If DRB-II displays RFDOOR AJAR:CLOSED, replace right front door ajar switch. If DRB-II does not display RFDOOR AJAR:CLOSED, gain access to body controller. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Connect a jumper wire between right door ajar sense circuit of Natural body controller connector terminal No. 2 (Tan/Red wire) and ground. If DRB-II displays RFDOOR AJAR:CLOSED, repair open Tan/Red wire. If DRB-II does not display RFDOOR AJAR:CLOSED, replace body controller.
- Disconnect right front door ajar switch connector. Connector is located at lower right "B" pillar. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. If DRB-II displays RFDOOR AJAR:OPEN, replace right front door ajar switch. If DRB-II does not display RFDOOR AJAR:OPEN, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Natural body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel.
- Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of front door ajar sense circuit at Natural body controller connector terminal No. 2 (Tan/Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Tan/Red wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace body controller.
TEST 42A - DIAGNOSING DOOR AJAR CIRCUIT (SIDE DOOR)

- Ensure side door is aligned properly. Close all doors. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRB-II, read side door ajar switch status. If DRB-II displays SIDE DR AJR:OPEN, go to step 4). If DRB-II does not display SIDE DR AJR:OPEN, open side door. If DRB-II displays SIDE DR AJR:CLOSED, retest system.
- If DRB-II does not display SIDE DR AJR:CLOSED, disconnect side door ajar switch connector. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Connect a jumper wire between side door ajar sense circuit switch connector (Tan/Yellow wire) and ground. If DRB-II does not display SIDE DR AJR:CLOSED, go to TEST 42B.
- If DRB-II displays SIDE DR AJR:CLOSED, remove jumper wire. Connect jumper wire between side door ajar sense circuit (Tan/Yellow wire) and system ground circuit (Black wire) of side door ajar switch connector. If DRB-II does not display SIDE DR AJR:CLOSED, repair open in Black wire. If DRB-II displays SIDE DR AJR:CLOSED, repair side door ajar switch.
- Disconnect side door ajar switch connector. If DRB-II displays SIDE DR AJR:OPEN, replace side door ajar switch. If DRB-II does not display SIDE DR AJR:OPEN, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Natural body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel.
- Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of side door ajar sense circuit at Natural body controller connector terminal No. 3 (Tan/Yellow wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Tan/Yellow wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace body controller.
TEST 42B - DIAGNOSING DOOR AJAR CIRCUIT (SIDE DOOR)
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.
- Disconnect jumper wire (if connected). Gain access to Natural body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel.
- Connect a jumper wire between side door ajar sense circuit at Natural body controller connector terminal No. 3 (Tan/Yellow wire) and ground. If DRB-II displays SIDE DR AJR:CLOSED, repair open in Tan/Yellow wire. If DRB-II does not display SIDE DR AJR:CLOSED, replace body controller.
TEST 43A - DIAGNOSING DOOR AJAR CIRCUIT (LIFTGATE)
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER 1A after each repair.

- Ensure liftgate is aligned properly. Close liftgate. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRB-II, read liftgate ajar switch status. If DRB-II does not display GATE AJAR:OPEN, go to step 5). If DRB-II displays GATE AJAR:OPEN, open liftgate. Using DRB-II, read gate ajar switch status. If DRB-II displays GATE AJAR:CLOSED, retest system.
- If DRB-II does not display GATE AJAR:CLOSED, disconnect liftgate ajar switch connector. Connector is located at bottom of liftgate behind trim panel. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Connect a jumper wire between liftgate ajar sense circuit at liftgate ajar switch connector (Tan/Black wire) and ground.
- If DRB-II displays GATE AJAR:CLOSED, replace liftgate ajar switch. If DRB-II does not display GATE AJAR:CLOSED, gain access to body controller. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel.
- Connect a jumper wire between liftgate ajar sense circuit at Natural body controller connector terminal No. 4 (Tan/Black wire) and ground. If DRB-II displays GATE AJAR:CLOSED, repair open in Tan/Black wire. If DRB-II does not display GATE AJAR:CLOSED, replace body controller.
- Disconnect liftgate ajar switch connector. Connector is located at bottom of liftgate behind trim panel. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. If DRB-II displays GATE AJAR:OPEN, replace liftgate ajar switch.
- If DRB-II does not display GATE AJAR:OPEN, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Natural body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary.
- Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of liftgate ajar sense circuit at Natural body controller connector terminal No. 4 (Tan/Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Tan/Black wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace body controller.
TEST 44A - REPAIRING FAULTY WASHER FLUID LEVEL CIRCUIT
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.

- Check washer fluid level. If washer fluid is not full, add fluid as necessary. If washer fluid is full, read washer fluid switch status using DRB-II. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT OPEN, go to step 4). If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT OPEN, disconnect washer fluid level switch connector.
- If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT OPEN, replace washer fluid level switch. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT OPEN, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Natural body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel.
- Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of washer fluid level sense circuit at Natural body controller connector terminal No. 13 (Black/Tan wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Black/Tan wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace body controller.
- Disconnect washer fluid level switch connector. Connect a jumper wire between Black/Tan and Black wires of washer fluid level switch connector. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace washer fluid level switch. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, disconnect jumper wire.
- Connect a jumper wire between washer fluid level sense circuit (Black/Tan wire) at washer fluid level switch connector and ground. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, repair open in Black wire. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, gain access to body controller.
- Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Connect a jumper wire between washer fluid level sense circuit at Natural body controller connector terminal No. 13 (Black/Tan wire) and ground. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, repair open in Black/Tan wire. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace body controller.
TEST 45A - REPAIRING FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.

- Using DRB-II, read fuel level sensor status. Disconnect fuel pump/sending unit connector. Connector is located underneath vehicle along frame rail. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Using DRB-II, read fuel level sensor voltage.
- If voltage is more than 8 volts, go to step 5). If voltage is less than 8 volts, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Blue body controller connector. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. With DRB-II in voltmeter mode, check voltage of fused ignition feed circuit at Blue body controller connector terminal No. 12 (Dark Blue/White wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Dark Blue/White wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, turn ignition switch to OFF position.
- Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of fuel sense signal circuit at Blue body controller connector terminal No. 11 (Dark Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Blue wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace body controller.
- Connect a jumper wire between fuel level sense circuit (Dark Blue wire) and system ground circuit (Black wire) at fuel pump/sending unit connector. Using DRB-II, read fuel level status. If DRB-II displays 0.0 VOLTS, replace fuel level sensor.
- If DRB-II does not display 0.0 VOLTS, disconnect jumper wire. Connect a jumper wire between fuel level sense circuit (Dark Blue wire) at fuel pump/sending unit connector and ground. If DRB-II displays 0.0 VOLTS, repair open in Black wire. If DRB-II does not display 0.0 VOLTS, disconnect jumper wire. Gain access to body controller.
- Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Connect a jumper wire between fuel level sense circuit at Blue body controller connector terminal No. 11 (Dark Blue wire) and ground. If DRB-II displays 0.0 VOLTS, repair open in Dark Blue wire. If DRB-II does not display 0.0 VOLTS, replace body controller.
TEST 46A - REPAIRING TEMPERATURE GAUGE
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.

Note. Ensure engine cooling system is operating properly.
- If cooling system not operating properly, repair cooling system as necessary. If cooling system is operating properly, read engine temperature sensor voltage using DRB-II. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to step 5).
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, disconnect engine temperature sending unit. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Connect a jumper wire between temperature gauge sense circuit (Violet/Yellow wire) at temperature sending unit connector and ground.
- If DRB-II displays less than one volt, replace engine temperature sending unit. If DRB-II displays more than one volt, disconnect jumper wire. Gain access to body controller. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Connect a jumper wire between temperature gauge sense circuit at Natural body controller connector terminal No. 23 (Violet/Yellow wire) and ground.
- If DRB-II displays less than one volt, repair open in Violet/Yellow wire between engine and body controller. If DRB-II displays more than one volt, replace body controller.
- Disconnect engine temperature sending unit. If DRB-II displays more than 10 volts, replace engine temperature sending unit. If DRB-II displays less than 10 volts, turn ignition switch to OFF position.
- Disconnect Blue body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Turn ignition switch to ON position.
- Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, check voltage of fused ignition feed circuit at Blue body controller connector terminal No. 22 (Dark Blue). If DRB-II displays less than 10 volts, repair open in Dark Blue wire. If DRB-II displays more than 10 volts, turn ignition switch to OFF position.
- Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of temperature gauge sense circuit at Natural body connector, terminal No. 23 (Violet/Yellow wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace body controller. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Violet/Yellow wire between engine and body controller.
TEST 47A - REPAIRING OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.
- Check engine oil level, and top off as necessary. If oil level is okay, remove oil pressure sending unit, and connect an oil pressure gauge in its place. Start engine.
- Allow engine to reach normal operating temperature and check oil pressure reading. If oil pressure is less than 4 psi (.28 kg/cm 2 ) at idle, check engine condition. See appropriate article in ENGINES. If oil pressure is more than 4 psi (.28 kg/cm 2 ) at idle, turn ignition switch to OFF position.
- Remove oil pressure test gauge. Reinstall oil pressure sending unit. Check oil pressure sending unit connector condition, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Reconnect oil pressure sending unit connector. If instrument cluster is not equipped with an oil gauge, go to TEST 47B.
- If instrument panel is equipped with an oil pressure gauge, turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRB-II, read oil pressure sending unit voltage. If voltage less than 8 volts, go to TEST 47C. If voltage more than 8 volts, read oil pressure sending unit status using DRB-II.
- If DRB-II does not display OIL PRS LOW CLOSED, go to TEST 47D. If DRB-II displays OIL PRS LOW CLOSED, start engine. Using DRB-II, read oil pressure sending unit voltage. If voltage is more than 5 volts, go to TEST 47E. If voltage is less than 5 volts, read oil pressure sending unit status using DRB-II.
- If DRB-II does not display OIL PRS LOW OPEN, go to TEST 47F. If DRB-II displays OIL PRS LOW OPEN, turn ignition switch to OFF position. System is operating properly at this time.
TEST 47B - DIAGNOSING OIL INDICATOR LIGHT (WITHOUT OIL GAUGE)
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.

Note. This test is for vehicles equipped with a base instrument cluster (without oil gauge).
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRB-II, read oil pressure sending unit status. If DRB-II does not display OIL PRS LOW CLOSED, go to TEST 47D. If DRB-II displays OIL PRS LOW CLOSED, check oil indicator light. If oil indicator light is not on, repair open in Gray wire.
- If oil indicator light is on, start engine. Using DRB-II, read oil pressure sending unit status. If DRB-II does not display OIL PRS LOW OPEN, go to next step. If DRB-II displays OIL PRS LOW OPEN, turn ignition switch to OFF position. System is operating properly at this time.
- Disconnect oil pressure sending unit. If indicator light goes out, replace oil pressure sending unit. If indicator light does not go out, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Natural body controller connector. Turn ignition switch to ON position. If indicator light goes out, replace body controller.
- If indicator light does not go out, disconnect instrument cluster connector (located behind instrument cluster assembly). Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of oil pressure sending unit sense circuit at instrument cluster connector terminal No. 8 (Gray wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Gray wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace instrument cluster.
TEST 47C - GROUNDED OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT SIGNAL CIRCUIT
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.

- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Disconnect oil pressure sending unit. Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, read oil pressure sending unit voltage. If voltage is more than 8 volts, replace oil pressure sending unit. If voltage is less than 8 volts, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Natural body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel.
- Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of oil pressure sending unit signal circuit at Natural body controller connector terminal No. 22 (Gray/Yellow wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Gray/Yellow wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace body controller.
TEST 47D - OPEN OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT

- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Disconnect oil pressure sending unit. Connect a jumper wire between oil pressure sending unit sense circuit (Gray wire) and ground. Using DRB-II, read oil pressure sending unit status. If DRB-II displays OIL PRS LOW CLOSED, replace oil pressure sending unit. If DRB-II does not display OIL PRS LOW CLOSED, turn ignition switch to OFF position.
- Disconnect Natural body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of oil pressure sending unit sense circuit at Natural body controller connector terminal No. 9 (Gray wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace body controller. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Gray wire.
TEST 47E - OPEN OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT SIGNAL CIRCUIT

- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Disconnect oil pressure sending unit. Connect a jumper wire between oil pressure sending unit signal circuit (Gray/Yellow wire) and ground. Using DRB-II, read oil pressure sending unit voltage. If voltage is less than one volt, replace oil pressure sending unit. If voltage is more than one volt, turn ignition switch to OFF position.
- Disconnect Natural body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of oil pressure sending unit signal circuit at Natural body controller connector terminal No. 22 (Gray/Yellow wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace body controller. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Gray/Yellow wire.
TEST 47F - GROUNDED OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT

- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Disconnect oil pressure sending unit. Using DRB-II, read oil pressure sending unit status. If DRB-II displays OIL PRS LOW OPEN, replace oil pressure sending unit. If DRB-II does not display OIL PRS LOW OPEN, turn ignition switch to OFF position.
- Disconnect Natural body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRB-II, read oil pressure sending unit status. If DRB-II displays OIL PRS LOW OPEN, replace body controller. If DRB-II does not display OIL PRS LOW OPEN, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect instrument cluster connector.
- Instrument cluster connector is located behind instrument cluster. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of oil pressure sending unit sense circuit at instrument cluster connector terminal No. 8 (Gray wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Gray wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace instrument cluster.
TEST 48A - ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT CLUSTER NO RESPONSE
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.

- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect electronic instrument cluster. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, check voltage of CCD bus positive circuit at electronic instrument cluster connector (Violet/Brown wire) terminal No. 10.
- If voltage is less than one volt, repair open in Violet/Brown wire between data link connector and instrument cluster. If voltage is more than one volt, check voltage of CCD bus negative circuit at electronic instrument cluster connector terminal No. 9 (White/Black wire).
- If voltage is less than one volt, repair open in White/Black wire between data link connector and instrument cluster. If voltage is more than one volt, turn ignition switch to OFF position.
- Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of signal ground circuit at electronic instrument cluster connector terminal No. 7 (Black/Light Green wire). If resistance is more than 100 ohms, repair open in Black/Light Green wire.
- If resistance is less than 100 ohms, turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, check voltage of fused ignition feed circuit at electronic instrument cluster connector terminal No. 11 (Dark Blue/White wire).
- If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to TEST 48B. If voltage is more than 10 volts, check voltage of fused battery feed circuit at electronic instrument cluster connector terminal No. 2 (Pink wire).
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace electronic instrument cluster. If voltage is less than 10 volts, remove and inspect fuse No. 3 in fuse panel. If fuse is open, go to TEST 48C. If fuse is okay, install fuse and go to next step.
- Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, check voltage of battery feed circuit side of fuse No. 3 (Black/Red wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open in Pink wire between fuse panel and instrument cluster. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Black/Red wire from back of fuse panel to battery.
TEST 48B - ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT CLUSTER NO RESPONSE
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.

- Remove and inspect fuse No. 15 (ignition feed circuit). If fuse is open, go to step 5). If fuse is okay, install fuse. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, check voltage of ignition feed circuit (Dark Blue wire) at fuse No 15.
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open in fused ignition feed circuit (Dark Blue/White wire) between fuse panel and electronic instrument cluster. If voltage is less than 10 volts, gain access to ignition switch connector.
- Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, check voltage of ignition feed circuit at ignition switch connector terminal No. 2 (Dark Blue wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open in Dark Blue wire between ignition switch and fuse No. 15. If voltage is less than 10 volts, check voltage of battery feed circuit at ignition switch connector terminal No. 7 (Red wire).
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace ignition switch. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Red wire between battery and ignition switch.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect body controller connectors. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of fused ignition feed circuit (Dark Blue/White wire) at fuse No. 15. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Blue/White wire and replace fuse No. 15.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, reconnect body controller connectors. Check resistance of fused ignition feed circuit (Dark Blue/White wire) at fuse No. 15. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace body controller and fuse No. 15. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, reconnect instrument cluster connector.
- Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of fused ignition feed circuit (Dark Blue wire) at fuse No. 15. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace electronic instrument cluster and fuse No. 15. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace fuse No. 15.
TEST 48C - REPAIRING INSTRUMENT CLUSTER BATTERY POWER SUPPLY
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.

- Ensure courtesy light switch, located on slider dimmer switch, is off. Ensure vanity mirror, glove box and under seat lights are off. Close all doors. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of fused battery feed circuit (Pink wire) at fuse No. 3. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace fuse No. 3. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, disconnect left pod switch.
- Check resistance of fused battery feed circuit (Pink wire) at fuse No. 3. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to step 4). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance of switched battery feed circuit at left pod switch Black connector terminal No. 5 (Pink/Light Blue wire).
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Pink/Light Blue wire and replace fuse No. 3. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Pink wire and replace fuse No. 3.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Blue body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of fused battery feed circuit (Pink wire) at fuse No. 3. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace body controller and fuse No. 3.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, disconnect electronic instrument cluster connector. Check resistance of fused battery feed circuit (Pink wire) at fuse No. 3. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace electronic instrument cluster and fuse No. 3. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, disconnect vehicle radio.
- Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of fused battery feed circuit (Pink wire) at fuse No. 3. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace vehicle radio and fuse No. 3. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, and vehicle is equipped with a compass/mini trip module, go to next step. If vehicle is not equipped with a compass/mini trip module, repair short to ground in Pink wire and replace fuse No. 3.
- Disconnect compass/mini trip module 4-wire connector (located in overhead console). Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of fused battery feed circuit (Pink wire) at fuse No. 3. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace courtesy light assembly in overhead console and fuse No. 3.
- Disconnect compass/mini trip module Blue 13-wire connector. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of fused battery feed circuit (Pink wire) at fuse No. 3. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace compass/mini trip module and fuse No. 3. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Pink wire and replace fuse No. 3.
TEST 49A - REPAIRING BODY CONTROLLER NO RESPONSE
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.

- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Blue body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Disconnect DRB-II from data link connector. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of CCD bus positive circuit (Violet/Brown wire) between Blue body controller connector terminal No. 14 and data link connector terminal No. 4.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Violet/Brown wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check resistance on CCD bus negative circuit (White/Black wire) between Blue body controller connector terminal No. 15 and data link connector terminal No. 3.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open White/Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, reconnect DRB-II from data link connector. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of signal ground circuit at Blue body controller connector terminal No. 13 (Black/Light Green wire).
- If resistance is more than 100 ohms, repair open Black/Light Green wire. If resistance is less than 100 ohms, put DRB-II in voltmeter mode. Check voltage of fused ignition feed circuits at Blue body controller connector terminals No. 12 (Dark Blue/White wire) and No. 22 (Dark Blue wire).
- If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to TEST 49B. If voltage is more than 10 volts, check voltage of fused battery feed circuit at Blue body controller connector terminal No. 16 (Pink wire).
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace body controller. If voltage is less than 10 volts, remove and inspect fuse No. 3. If fuse is blown, go to TEST 49C. If fuse is okay, reinstall fuse No. 3.
- Check voltage of battery feed circuit at fuse No. 3 (Black/Red wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Pink wire. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Black/Red wire.
TEST 49B - REPAIRING BODY CONTROLLER IGNITION POWER SUPPLY
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.

- Remove and inspect fuse No. 15. If fuse is blown, go to step 4). If fuse is okay, reinstall fuse No. 15. Ensure ignition switch is in ON position. Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, check voltage of ignition feed circuit at fuse No. 15 (Dark Blue/White wire).
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Dark Blue wire between fuse No. 15 and body controller. If voltage is less than 10 volts, backprobe for voltage on ignition feed circuit at ignition switch connector terminal No. 2 (Dark Blue wire).
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Dark Blue wire between fuse No. 15 and ignition switch. If voltage is less than 10 volts, backprobe for voltage on battery feed circuit at ignition switch connector terminal No. 7 (Red wire) If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace ignition switch. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Red wire.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect instrument cluster connector. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of ignition feed circuit at fuse No. 15 (Dark Blue/White wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Blue/White wire and replace fuse No. 15.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, reconnect instrument cluster connector. Check resistance of fused ignition feed circuit at fuse No. 15 (Dark Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace instrument cluster and fuse No. 15.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, reconnect Blue body controller connector. Check resistance of fused ignition feed circuit at fuse No. 15 (Dark Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace body controller and fuse No. 15. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace fuse No. 15.
TEST 49C - REPAIRING BODY CONTROLLER BATTERY POWER SUPPLY

- Ensure all courtesy lights are off. Reconnect Blue body controller connector. Close all doors. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of fused battery feed circuit at fuse No. 3 (Pink wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace fuse No. 3.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, disconnect left pod switch connector. Check resistance of fused battery feed circuit at fuse No. 3 (Pink wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to step 4).
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check resistance of switched battery feed circuit at left pod switch Black connector terminal No. 5 (Pink/Light Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Pink/Light Blue wire and replace fuse No 3. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Pink wire and replace fuse No. 3.
- Disconnect Blue body controller connector. Check resistance of fused battery feed circuit at fuse No. 3 (Pink wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace body controller and fuse No. 3.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, disconnect instrument cluster connector. Check resistance of fused battery feed circuit at fuse No. 3 (Pink wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace instrument cluster and fuse No. 3.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, disconnect radio. Check resistance of fused battery feed circuit at fuse No. 3 (Pink wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace radio and fuse No. 3.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms and vehicle is not equipped with compass/mini trip module, repair short to ground in Pink wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms and vehicle is equipped with compass/mini trip module, disconnect compass/mini trip module 4-pin connector.
- Check resistance of fused battery feed circuit at fuse No. 3 (Pink wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace courtesy light assembly in overhead console and fuse No. 3.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, disconnect compass/mini trip module 13-pin connector. Check resistance of fused battery feed circuit at fuse No. 3 (Pink wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace compass/mini trip module and fuse No. 3. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Pink wire and replace fuse No. 3.
TEST 50A - COMPASS/MINI TRIP MODULE NO RESPONSE

- If compass/mini trip module display is blank, go to TEST 15B. If compass/mini trip module display is not blank, turn ignition off. Disconnect DRB-II and compass/mini trip module connector. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of CCD bus positive circuit (Violet/Brown wire) between compass/mini trip module connector terminal No. 3 and data link connector terminal No. 3.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Violet/Brown wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check resistance of CCD bus negative circuit (White/Black wire) between compass/mini trip module connector terminal No. 2 and data link connector terminal No. 4.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open White/Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace compass/mini trip module.
TEST VER - 1A - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE
Reconnect all previously disconnected components and connectors. Ensure all repairs have been made. Actuate system that was not operational. If system operates properly, repair is complete. If system does not operate properly, go to TEST 1A.
VEHICLE COMMUNICATION TESTS

TEST 1A - FAULT MESSAGES
Battery must be fully charged before proceeding. Fault messages displayed will fit 2 categories: DRB-II fault messages and bus fault messages. Connect DRB-II to data link connector to get fault message. See FAULT MESSAGES table and proceed to appropriate test number.

FAULT MESSAGES
TEST 2A - BLANK DRB-II MESSAGE SCREEN
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section.
- Disconnect DRB-II. Using an external voltmeter, check Chrysler Collision Detection (CCD) data link connector positive battery circuit (Red wire for AS bodies) for voltage. Connector is located in left rear of engine compartment on YJ bodies and underneath dash at left side of steering column on all others. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair positive battery circuit as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, turn ignition off. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between CCD data link connector ground circuit (Black/Light Green wire for AS bodies) and ground. If resistance is more than 20 ohms, repair open in ground circuit. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is less than 20 ohms, try a different DRB-II adapter cable. If DRB-II screen is no longer blank, replace defective DRB-II adapter cable. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If DRB-II screen is still blank, try a different DRB-II cartridge. If DRB-II screen is no longer blank, replace defective DRB-II cartridge. Perform TEST VER-1. If DRB-II screen is still blank, replace defective DRB-II. Perform TEST VER-1.
TEST 3A - RAM TEST FAILURE
- Disconnect and reconnect DRB-II. DO NOT touch keypad. If DRB-II does not display RAM TEST FAILURE, proceed to next step. If DRB-II displays RAM TEST FAILURE, replace DRB-II. Perform TEST VER-1. Return to TEST 1A.
- If DRB-II displays KEY PAD TEST FAILURE, replace DRB-II. Perform TEST VER-1. If DRB-II does not display KEY PAD TEST FAILURE, return to TEST 1A.
TEST 4A - CARTRIDGE ERROR
- Disconnect and reconnect DRB-II. DO NOT touch keypad. If DRB-II does not display CARTRIDGE ERROR, proceed to next step. If DRB-II displays CARTRIDGE ERROR, replace DRB-II cartridge. Perform TEST VER-1. Return to TEST 1A.
- If DRB-II displays KEY PAD TEST FAILURE, replace DRB-II. Perform TEST VER-1. If DRB-II does not display KEY PAD TEST FAILURE, return to TEST 1A.
TEST 5A - KEY PAD TEST FAILURE
Disconnect and reconnect DRB-II. DO NOT touch keypad. If DRB-II does not display KEY PAD TEST FAILURE, return to TEST 1A. If DRB-II dis-plays KEY PAD TEST FAILURE, replace DRB-II. Perform TEST VER-1.
TEST 6A - LOW OR HIGH BATTERY
Using an external voltmeter, check battery voltage. If battery voltage is 11.7-13.0 volts, replace DRB-II. Perform TEST VER-1. If battery voltage is not 11.7-13.0 volts, repair charging system as necessary.
TEST 7A - SHORT TO BATTERY

- Using DRB-II, indicate whether vehicle is equipped with specific module. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Transmission Control Module (TCM), if equipped. TCM is located on left side of engine compartment near cowl. Turn ignition on. If DRB-II does not display BUS SHORT TO BATTERY, replace TCM. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If DRB-II displays BUS SHORT TO BATTERY, turn ignition off and disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM). PCM is located between CCD data link connector and battery on fenderwell.
- Turn ignition on. If DRB-II does not display BUS SHORT TO BATTERY, go to TEST 7B. If DRB-II displays BUS SHORT TO BATTERY, turn ignition off and disconnect Controller Anti-Lock Brake (CAB) module, if equipped.
- Turn ignition on. If DRB-II does not display BUS SHORT TO BATTERY, go to TEST 7C. If DRB-II displays BUS SHORT TO BATTERY, turn ignition off and disconnect Mechanical Instrument Cluster (MIC) or Electronic Instrument Cluster (EIC). Turn ignition on. If DRB-II does not display BUS SHORT TO BATTERY, go to TEST 7E. If DRB-II displays BUS SHORT TO BATTERY, turn ignition off and disconnect Vehicle Theft Alarm (VTA) module, if equipped.
- Turn ignition on. If DRB-II does not display BUS SHORT TO BATTERY, replace VTA module. Perform TEST VER-1. If DRB-II displays BUS SHORT TO BATTERY, turn ignition off and disconnect compass/mini trip module, if equipped. Compass/mini trip module is located at center of roof, above visors. Turn ignition on. If DRB-II does not display BUS SHORT TO BATTERY, replace compass/mini trip module. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If DRB-II displays BUS SHORT TO BATTERY, turn ignition off and disconnect auto temperature control head, if equipped. Turn ignition on. If DRB-II does not display BUS SHORT TO BATTERY, replace auto temperature control head. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If DRB-II displays BUS SHORT TO BATTERY, turn ignition off and disconnect Body Control Module (BCM), if equipped. BCM is located behind knee panel below dashboard. Turn ignition on. If DRB-II does not display BUS SHORT TO BATTERY, go to TEST 7F. If DRB-II displays BUS SHORT TO BATTERY, disconnect DRB-II.
- Using an external voltmeter, check voltage between CCD data link connector CCD bus positive circuit (White/Violet wire on YJ body and Violet/Brown wire on all others) and ground. If voltage is more than 8 volts, repair short to voltage in CCD bus positive circuit. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If voltage is less than 8 volts, check voltage between CCD data link connector CCD bus negative circuit (White/Black wire on AS) and ground.
- If voltage is more than 8 volts, repair short to voltage in CCD bus negative circuit. Perform TEST VER-1. If voltage is less than 8 volts, replace DRB-II cable or cartridge as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1.
TEST 7B - SHORT TO BATTERY
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section.

- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between PCM connector terminal No. 26, CCD bus positive circuit (Violet/Brown wire), and terminal No. 7, 8-volt supply circuit (Orange wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Violet/Brown and Orange wires. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between PCM connector terminal No. 46, CCD bus negative circuit (White/Black wire), and terminal No. 7, 8-volt supply circuit (Orange wire).
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between White/Black and Orange wires. Perform TEST VER-1. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace PCM. Perform TEST VER-1.
TEST 7C - SHORT TO BATTERY

- Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, check voltage at CAB connector terminal No. 41, pedal travel sensor return circuit (Red/Black wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair short to voltage in Red/Black wire and replace CAB module. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace CAB module. Perform TEST VER-1.
TEST 7E - SHORT TO BATTERY

- Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check instrument cluster connector ground circuit (Black/Light Green wire).
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open circuit in Black/Light Green wire. Perform TEST VER-1. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace MIC or EIC. Perform TEST VER-1.
TEST 7F - SHORT TO BATTERY

- BCM is located under lower knee panel of dashboard. Using external ohmmeter, check resistance between BCM Blue connector terminal No. 7, CCD bus positive circuit (Violet/Brown wire), and terminal No. 22, key-in light control circuit (Yellow/Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Violet/Brown and Yellow/Red wires. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between Blue BCM connector terminal No. 20, CCD bus negative circuit (White/Black wire), and terminal No. 22, key-in light control circuit (Yellow/Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between White/Black and Yellow/Red wires. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between Blue BCM connector terminal No. 7, CCD bus positive circuit (Violet/Brown wire), and terminal No. 23, seat belt light output circuit (Dark Blue/Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Violet/Brown and Dark Blue/Red wires. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between Blue BCM connector terminal No. 20, CCD bus negative circuit (White/Black wire), and terminal No. 23, seat belt light output circuit (Dark Blue/Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between White/Black and Dark Blue/Red wires. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, use DRB-II in ohmmeter mode to check resistance at BCM case. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair BCM case ground. Perform TEST VER-1. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check resistance of Blue BCM connector terminal No. 19, signal ground circuit (Black/Light Green wire).
- If resistance is more than 15 ohms, repair open in Black/Light Green wire. Perform TEST VER-1. If resistance is less than 15 ohms, replace BCM. Perform TEST VER-1.
TEST 8A - SHORT TO 5 VOLTS

- Using DRB-II, indicate whether vehicle is equipped with specific module. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Transmission Control Module (TCM), if equipped. TCM is located on left side of engine compartment, near cowl. Turn ignition on. If DRB-II does not display BUS SHORT TO 5 VOLTS, replace TCM. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If DRB-II displays BUS SHORT TO 5 VOLTS, turn ignition off and disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM). PCM is located between data link connector and battery, on fenderwell. Turn ignition on. If DRB-II does not display BUS SHORT TO 5 VOLTS, go to TEST 8B.
- If DRB-II displays BUS SHORT TO 5 VOLTS, turn ignition off and disconnect Controller Anti-Lock Brake (CAB) module, if equipped. Turn ignition on. If DRB-II does not display BUS SHORT TO 5 VOLTS, replace CAB module. Perform TEST VER-1.

- If DRB-II displays BUS SHORT TO 5 VOLTS, turn ignition off and disconnect compass/mini-trip module, if equipped. Compass/mini-trip module is located at center of roof, above visors. Turn ignition on. If DRB-II does not display BUS SHORT TO 5 VOLTS, replace compass/mini-trip module. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If DRB-II displays BUS SHORT TO 5 VOLTS, turn ignition off and disconnect auto temperature control head, if equipped. Turn ignition on. If DRB-II does not display BUS SHORT TO 5 VOLTS, go to TEST 8F.
- If DRB-II displays BUS SHORT TO 5 VOLTS, turn ignition off and disconnect Body Control Module (BCM), if equipped. BCM is located under lower knee panel of dashboard. Turn ignition on. If DRB-II does not display BUS SHORT TO 5 VOLTS, go to TEST 8G. If DRB-II displays BUS SHORT TO 5 VOLTS, disconnect DRB-II.
- Using an external voltmeter, check voltage between CCD data link connector CCD bus positive circuit (White/Violet wire on YJ body and Violet/Brown wire on all others) and ground. If voltage is more than 8 volts, repair short to voltage in CCD bus positive circuit. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If voltage is less than 8 volts, check voltage between CCD data link connector CCD bus negative circuit (White/Black wire on AS body) and ground.
- If voltage is more than 8 volts, repair short to voltage in CCD bus negative circuit. Perform TEST VER-1. If voltage is less than 8 volts, replace DRB-II cable or cartridge as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1.
TEST 8B - SHORT TO 5 VOLTS

- Ignition off during bus test is the most common cause for these messages. Turn ignition on, engine off. Disconnect DRB-II. Using external voltmeter, check voltage between CCD data link connector CCD bus positive circuit (Violet/Brown wire) and ground. If voltage is not 2.3-2.6 volts, go to step 4).
- If voltage is 2.3-2.6 volts, check voltage between CCD data link connector CCD bus negative circuit (White/Black wire) and ground.
- If voltage is not 2.3-2.6 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 2.3-2.6 volts, replace DRB-II cable or cartridge as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1.
- Turn ignition off, and disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM). PCM is located between data link connector and battery, on fenderwell. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between PCM pins No. 26 and 46. If resistance is not 100-140 ohms, replace PCM. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is 100-140 ohms, check resistance between PCM connector terminal No. 26 and CCD data link connector CCD bus positive circuit (Violet/Brown wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open circuit in Violet/Brown wire. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check resistance between PCM connector terminal No. 46 and CCD data link connector CCD bus negative circuit (White/Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open circuit in White/Black wire. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connectors. BCM is located behind knee panel below dashboard. Check resistance between BCM pins No. 14 and 15. (Scheme 51) If resistance is not 100-140 ohms, replace BCM. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is 100-140 ohms, check resistance between Blue BCM connector terminal No. 7 and CCD data link connector CCD bus positive circuit (Violet/Brown wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open circuit in Violet/Brown wire. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check resistance between Blue BCM connector terminal No. 20 and CCD data link connector CCD bus negative circuit (White/Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open circuit in White/Black wire. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check resistance between CCD data link connector CCD bus positive circuit (Violet/Brown wire) and ground. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Violet/Brown wire. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check resistance between CCD data link connector CCD bus negative circuit (White/Black wire) and ground. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in White/Black wire. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, reconnect DRB-II and place in voltmeter mode. Check voltage on Blue BCM connector terminal No. 8, fused battery feed circuit (Pink wire). If voltage is not more than 10 volts, repair Pink wire as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, check voltage on Blue BCM connector terminal No. 6, fused ignition feed run/start circuit (Dark Blue/White wire). If voltage is not more than 10 volts, repair Dark Blue/White wire as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, turn ignition off and change DRB-II to ohmmeter mode. Check resistance of Blue BCM connector terminal No. 19, ground circuit (Black/Light Green wire). If resistance is more than 15 ohms, repair open to ground in Black/Light Green wire. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is less than 15 ohms, check resistance of BCM case ground. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair BCM case ground as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace BCM. Perform TEST VER-1.
TEST 13E (AS BODY) - NO BUS BIAS

- Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connectors. BCM is located behind knee panel below dashboard. Check resistance between BCM pins No. 14 and 15. (Scheme 51) If resistance is not 100-140 ohms, replace BCM. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is 100-140 ohms, check resistance between Blue BCM connector terminal No. 7 and CCD data link connector CCD bus positive circuit (Violet/Brown wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open circuit in Violet/Brown wire. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check resistance between Blue BCM connector terminal No. 20 and CCD data link connector CCD bus negative circuit (White/Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open circuit in White/Black wire. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, reconnect DRB-II and place in voltmeter mode. Check voltage on Blue BCM connector terminal No. 8, fused battery feed circuit (Pink wire). If voltage is not more than 10 volts, repair Pink wire as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, check voltage on Blue BCM connector terminal No. 6, fused ignition feed run/start circuit (Dark Blue/White wire). If voltage is not more than 10 volts, repair Dark Blue/White wire as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, turn ignition off and change DRB-II to ohmmeter mode. Check resistance of Blue BCM connector terminal No. 19, ground circuit (Black/Light Green wire). If resistance is more than 15 ohms, repair open to ground in Black/Light Green wire. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is less than 15 ohms, check resistance of BCM case ground. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair BCM case ground as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace BCM. Perform TEST VER-1.
TEST 14A - NOT RECEIVING BUS MESSAGES CORRECTLY
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section.

- Using DRB-II, indicate whether vehicle is equipped with specific module. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Transmission Control Module (TCM), if equipped. TCM is located on left side of engine compartment, near cowl. Turn ignition on. If DRB-II does not display NOT RECEIVING BUS MESSAGES CORRECTLY, replace TCM. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If DRB-II displays NOT RECEIVING BUS MESSAGES CORRECTLY, turn ignition off and disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM). PCM is located between data link connector and battery, on fenderwell. Turn ignition on. If DRB-II does not display NOT RECEIVING BUS MESSAGES CORRECTLY, replace PCM. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If DRB-II displays NOT RECEIVING BUS MESSAGES CORRECTLY, turn ignition off and disconnect Controller Anti-Lock Brake (CAB) module, if equipped. Turn ignition on. If DRB-II does not display NOT RECEIVING BUS MESSAGES CORRECTLY, replace CAB module. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If DRB-II displays NOT RECEIVING BUS MESSAGES CORRECTLY, turn ignition off and disconnect Mechanical Instrument Cluster (MIC) or Electronic Instrument Cluster (EIC). Turn ignition on. If DRB-II does not display NOT RECEIVING BUS MESSAGES CORRECTLY, replace MIC or EIC. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If DRB-II displays NOT RECEIVING BUS MESSAGES CORRECTLY, turn ignition off and disconnect Vehicle Theft Alarm (VTA) module, if equipped. Turn ignition on. If DRB-II does not display NOT RECEIVING BUS MESSAGES CORRECTLY, replace VTA module. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If DRB-II displays NOT RECEIVING BUS MESSAGES CORRECTLY, turn ignition off and disconnect compass/mini-trip module, if equipped. Compass/mini-trip module is located at center of roof, above visors. Turn ignition on. If DRB-II does not display NOT RECEIVING BUS MESSAGES CORRECTLY, replace compass/mini-trip module. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If DRB-II displays NOT RECEIVING BUS MESSAGES CORRECTLY, turn ignition off. Disconnect auto temperature control head, if equipped. Turn ignition on. If DRB-II does not display NOT RECEIVING BUS MESSAGES CORRECTLY, replace auto temperature control head. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If DRB-II displays NOT RECEIVING BUS MESSAGES CORRECTLY, turn ignition off and disconnect Body Control Module (BCM), if equipped. BCM is located behind right knee panel below dashboard.
- Turn ignition on. If DRB-II does not display NOT RECEIVING BUS MESSAGES CORRECTLY, replace BCM. Perform TEST VER-1. If DRB-II displays NOT RECEIVING BUS MESSAGES CORRECTLY, replace DRB-II cable or cartridge as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1.
VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1
- Ensure ignition is off and DRB-II is connected. Turn ignition on. If DRB-II screen is blank, go to TEST 2A. If DRB-II screen is not blank, go to next step.
- If there is a bus failure message on DRB-II, go to TEST 1A. If there is no bus failure message on DRB-II, select module in question. If DRB-II shows NO RESPONSE, go to TEST 1A.
- If DRB-II does not show NO RESPONSE, inspect vehicle for original complaint. If original complaint is present, go to TEST 1A. If original complaint is not present, repair is complete.
