How to Replace the Intermediate Shaft, Left Drive Opel Vivaro A

1. Immobilise steering wheel in centre position

2. Remove air cleaner assembly – see “Air Cleaner Assembly, Remove and Install”, “Air Cleaner Housing, Replace” or “Fuel Injectors, Replace” as appropriate:

  • F4R 720, F4R 820
  • F9Q 760
  • G9U 630
  • G9U 730
  • M9R 780, M9R 782, M9R 784, M9R 786, M9R 788
  • M9R 630

3. Disconnect intermediate shaft from steering gear

  • Remove nut (1), bolt

4. Release rubber cover from bulkhead

  • Release 3x integral clip

5. Remove coupling (1)

  • Release upper nut, upper bolt
  • Remove lower nut, lower bolt

6. Remove intermediate shaft assembly through bulkhead from steering gear

7. Remove rubber cover from intermediate shaft

8. Install rubber cover to new intermediate shaft

  • Push on

9. Install new intermediate shaft assembly through bulkhead to steering gear

10. Install coupling

  • Install lower bolt, lower nut hand tight

11. Install rubber cover to bulkhead

  • Secure 3x integral clip

12. Connect intermediate shaft to steering gear

  • Install bolt, new nut (1) 21 Nm

13. Secure coupling (1)

  • Secure 2x nut, 2x bolt 21 Nm

14. Install air cleaner assembly – see “Air Cleaner Assembly, Remove and Install”, Air Cleaner Housing, Replace” or “Fuel Injectors, Replace” as appropriate:

  • F4R 720, F4R 820
  • F9Q 760
  • G9U 630
  • G9U 730
  • M9R 780, M9R 782, M9R 784, M9R 786, M9R 788
  • M9R 630
