Park pilot, which is available as a factory option for Vivaro MY 2007, is designed to assist parking. The distance between the rear of the vehicle and an obstacle is measured by ultrasonic reflection.
Park pilot consists of the following equipment:
- Four sensors mounted in the rear panelling
- Control module located at the bottom, left side D pillar
- Acoustic sounder located on the left side B pillar
Park pilot becomes active when the ignition is switched on and reverse gear is selected. A brief acoustic signal indicates the system is ready for operation.
If an obstacle is detected at the rear of the vehicle, an intermittent audible signal is given by the acoustic sounder. As the vehicle gets closer to the obstacle, the signal frequency increases. If the distance is less than 25 cm, the signal is continuous.
To ensure that the sensors function correctly, and that the information provided is accurate, the sensors must be undamaged and free of dirt, snow and ice.
The park pilot system can be temporarily or permanently deactivated.
Temporary Deactivation
With the ignition on and reverse gear selected, pushing the park pilot button on the instrument panel temporarily deactivates the park pilot system. The system switches on again when the park pilot button is pushed again or the next time the ignition is switched on.
Permanent Deactivation
With the ignition on and reverse gear selected, pressing and holding the park pilot button on the instrument panel for approximately 3 seconds permanently deactivates the park pilot system. The system reactivates when the park pilot button is pressed and held for approximately 3 seconds. The next time reverse gear is selected the park pilot system will be operational.
