How to Replace (With 3-button Key) the Body Control Module Opel Vivaro A

Remove

  1. 1. Adjust steering column to highest position

Note. This is to improve access behind the steering wheel.

  1. 2. Disconnect battery negative lead
  2. 3. Remove airbag unit from steering wheel • Release clip – Use small screwdriver, taking care not to damage • Disconnect harness connector (1)
  1. 4. Immobilise steering wheel in centre position
  2. 5. Remove steering wheel • Remove bolt (1) – Mark position of steering wheel on steering column • Disconnect harness connector from horn switch • Release harness connector from radio remote control (if installed) • Release steering wheel from integral retainer, then pass harness through steering wheel
  1. 6. Remove 2x steering column cowling (1) • Remove ignition key • Remove 2x screw
  1. 7. Remove cover (1) of instrument cluster • Release 4x clip

Important. For right drive vehicles, the steering column must be removed for access to the rivet of the security bracket. – see the following five steps.

  1. 8. Disconnect instrument harness from steering column, then move to one side • Disconnect 5x connector, clip
  2. 9. Disconnect ignition harness from body harness • Disconnect 2x connector
  3. 10. Release steering column shaft lower coupling • Release upper bolt (1) • Remove lower bolt (2)
  1. 11. Release steering column from instrument crossmember support bracket • Remove 2x bolt
  2. 12. Remove steering column assembly from instrument panel • Lift up, then pull out
  1. 13. For left drive vehicles, remove body control module (1) • Position 2x harness outside of body control module area • Reposition plastic protection insert (if installed) from body control module • Disconnect 3x harness connector • Remove body control module from instrument panel – Release 2x clip
  1. 14. For right drive vehicles, remove body control module (2) • Reposition plastic protection insert (if installed) from body control module • Disconnect 2x harness connector (1) • Release body control module – Release 2x clip • Remove security bracket (3) from body control module – Drill out rivet head • Disconnect harness connector

Install

  1. 15. For left drive vehicles, install new body control module to instrument panel • Secure 2x clip • Connect 3x harness connector • Reposition plastic protection insert (if installed) to body control module • Position 2x harness to original position in body control module area
  1. 16. For right drive vehicles, install body control module • Connect harness connector (2) • Install security bracket (3) – Install new rivet • Secure body control module – Secure 2x clip • Connect 2x harness connector (1) • Reposition plastic protection insert (if installed) to body control module

Important. For right drive vehicles, the steering column must be installed – see the following five steps.

  1. 17. Install steering column assembly to instrument panel • Push in, then lower down
  2. 18. Secure steering column to instrument crossmember support bracket • Install 2x bolt 21 Nm
  1. 19. Secure steering column shaft lower coupling • Secure 2x nut, 2x bolt 21 Nm
  1. 20. Connect ignition harness to body harness • Connect 2x connector
  2. 21. Connect instrument harness to steering column • Connect 5x connector; clip
  3. 22. Install cover (1) of instrument cluster • Secure 4x clip
  1. 23. Install 2x steering column cowling (1) • Install 2x screw • Install ignition key
  1. 24. Install steering wheel • Align with mark made on removal • Pass wiring harness through steering wheel and secure to integral retainer • Secure harness connector to radio remote control (if installed) • Connect harness connector to horn switch
  2. 25. Secure steering wheel to column • Install new bolt 44 Nm
  1. 26. Install airbag unit to steering wheel • Connect harness connector (1) • Secure clip
  1. 27. Adjust steering column to origional position
  1. 28. Connect battery negative lead
  2. 29. Program all volatile memories
