How to Replace the Body Control Module Opel Vivaro A

Remove

  1. 1. Position steering column in fully extended position • Release lever (1) • Fully extend steering column, then secure lever
  1. 2. Disconnect battery negative lead
  2. 3. Remove airbag from steering wheel • Release clip – Use suitable tool, then slide off • Disconnect harness connector (1)
  1. 4. Immobilise steering wheel in centre position
  2. 5. Remove steering wheel • Apply match marks to steering wheel and steering column • Disconnect harness connector (1) for cruise control (if installed) • Disconnect harness connector (2) from harness connector for horn switch • Remove bolt (3) • Feed 2x harness through aperture in steering wheel
  1. 6. Remove 2x cowling (1) from steering column • Remove 2x screw
  1. 7. Remove upper trim panel (1) from instrument panel • Release 4x clip, locator
  1. 8. Remove lower trim panel (1) from instrument panel • Release 4x clip, 2x locator
  1. 9. For right drive vehicles, release instrument harness from steering column, then move to one side • Disconnect 5x harness connector • Release clip
  2. 10. For right drive vehicles, release ignition harness from body harness • Disconnect 2x harness connector
  3. 11. For right drive vehicles, release steering column from intermediate shaft • Release bolt (1) • Remove bolt (2)
  1. 12. For right drive vehicles, remove steering column from instrument panel crossmember • Remove 2x bolt (1) • Release from locator
  1. 13. For left drive vehicles, remove body control module (1) • Position 2x harness to one side • Reposition plastic protection insert (if installed) from body control module • Disconnect 3x harness connector • Release 2x clip
  1. 14. For right drive vehicles, remove body control module (2) • Reposition plastic protection insert (if installed) from body control module • Disconnect 2x harness connector (1) • Release body control module – Release 2x clip • Remove security bracket (3) from body control module – Remove rivet • Disconnect harness connector

Install

  1. 15. For left drive vehicles, install new body control module to instrument panel • Secure 2x clip • Connect 3x harness connector • Reposition plastic protection insert (if installed) to body control module • Position 2x harness to body control module
  1. 16. For right drive vehicles, install body control module • Connect harness connector (2) • Install security bracket (3) – Install new rivet • Secure body control module – Secure 2x clip • Connect 2x harness connector (1) • Reposition plastic protection insert (if installed) to body control module
  1. 17. For right drive vehicles, install steering column to instrument panel crossmember • Secure to locator • Install 2x bolt (1) 21 Nm
  1. 18. For right drive vehicles, secure steering column to intermediate shaft • Install bolt (2) 21 Nm • Secure bolt (1) 21 Nm
  1. 19. For right drive vehicles, secure ignition harness to body harness • Connect 2x harness connector
  2. 20. For right drive vehicles, secure instrument harness to steering column, then move to one side • Connect 5x harness connector • Secure clip
  3. 21. Install lower trim panel (1) to instrument panel • Secure 2x locator, 4x clip
  1. 22. Install upper trim panel (1) to instrument panel • Secure locator, 4x clip
  1. 23. Install 2x cowling (1) to steering column • Install 2x screw
  1. 24. Install steering wheel • Align match marks on steering wheel and steering column • Feed 2x harness through aperture in steering wheel • Connect harness connector (1) for cruise control (if installed) • Connect harness connector (2) to harness connector for horn switch • Install new bolt (3) 44 Nm
  1. 25. Install airbag to steering wheel • Connect harness connector (1) • Push on to secure clip
  1. 26. Connect battery negative lead
  2. 27. Program all volatile memories
