Functional Description
The ECM is mainly responsible for the cruise control function.
The CIM transmits the status of the three buttons "SET", "RESUME" and "OFF" on the steering column, to the ECM as CAN messages.
The brake light and clutch switches are directly wired to the ECM.
If the brake pedal or clutch pedal (manual transmission) is actuated, the cruise control function is switched off.
For vehicles with automatic transmission, the TCM transmits the current driving stage to the ECM as a CAN message.
The ECM receives the wheel speed information from the ABS as a CAN message. The vehicle speed is then calculated from the tyre data and the wheel speed.
