GPS Module (Optional)
The GPS Module is located in various installation sites in the vehicles (see 4.3.10 - Arrangement in the Vehicle).
The GPS antenna receives signals from a minimum of 3 and maximum of 8 satellites.
This allows the GPS module to compute the current vehicle location. If the GPS module cannot receive 3 satellites due to reception interference, it will not be possible to calculate a new location. In such cases the most recently calculated location will be used until a new vehicle location can be computed.
The CCRT 700 automatically selects the Onstar Service Centre as soon as the Onstar button is pressed.
The telephone number, vehicle data, vehicle location and direction of travel are transmitted via a short message.
