If present:

Air intake hose, air intake hood, air cleaner housing.

V-belt from alternator.

Version with power steering up to MY '93:

Mark operating direction of ribbed V-belt, remove ribbed V-belt.

Ribbed V-belt pulley (arrows) from power steering hydraulic pump.

Power steering hydraulic pump (arrows) from cylinder block - see operation

"Hydraulic Pump, Remove and Install" in group "M".

Engines as of MY '93:

Mark operating direction of ribbed V-belt.

Release tension in ribbed V-belt via ribbed V-belt tension roller in direction of arrow (clockwise) and remove ribbed V-belt.

Upper part of front toothed belt cover.

Turn crankshaft in rotational direction of engine until piston of 1st cylinder is at "Ign. TDC".

Pointer on rear toothed belt cover aligns with notch on V-belt pulley.

Note:

On 14 NV, set V-belt pulley to first notch (10° BTDC).

For X 16 SZ, "Ign. TDC" is marked on the increment disc.

1 - for version with V-belt pulley

2 - for version with ribbed V-belt pulley

Simultaneously, notch on camshaft gear must align with mark on rear toothed belt cover.
