Engine at operating temperature

(oil temperature ³ 80 °C/176 °F).

Ignition cable cover from cylinder head cover, spark plug connectors with KM-717, spark plugs with KM-194-B.

Engines as of MY '93:

Disconnect spark plug connectors with KM-836 (1).

Wiring harness plug (1) from trigger box or from dual spark ignition coil.

Disconnect fuel pump relay from relay base.

Note:

In C 20 XE, X 20 XEV and C 20 LET the fuel pump relay is in the front right footwell.

Note:

Use compression recorder with rubber cone and range up to 1750 kPa (17.5 bar).

Actuate starter for approx. 4 seconds with throttle valve fully open - min. engine speed 300 rpm.

The pressure difference between the individual cylinders should not exceed 100 kPa (1 bar).

Spark plugs with KM-194-B to cylinder head -

25 Nm/18 lbf. ft.

Connect spark plug connectors.

Ignition cable cover to cylinder head cover -

3 Nm/2 lbf. ft. 1)

1) C 20 XE - 8 Nm/6 lbf. ft.

Wiring harness plug to trigger box or to dual spark ignition coil.

Insert fuel pump relay in relay base.
