Compressor

A new compressor is used in vehicles with air conditioning (illustration E 2306). It is attached

to the engine and is driven by a ribbed V-belt with automatic tensioner.

The positive engagement between pulley and compressor is enabled by a magnetic clutch.

The switches for the auxiliary fan, low pressure safety and high pressure safety are now located

in a triple switch in the high pressure line.

· Service

Service operations on the compressor are limited to replacement of the control valve, the safety valve and the pulley/magnetic coupling assembly. When installing this assembly, ensure that the reference gap (1) between pulley and magnetic coupling is maintained.

The reference gap (1) is 0.4 to 1.0 mm/0.016 to 0.039 in.

Triple Switch

The triple switch (1) contains:

- Low pressure safety switch

- High pressure safety switch

- Auxiliary fan switch

The triple switch is installed in the high pressure line between the compressor and the condenser.

It responds to three different pressure levels in the high pressure line and then switches to the relevant circuit.
