How to Remove and Install the Alternator Opel Sintra I

Alternator

Alternator, Remove and Install

Disconnect ground cable from battery - see operation "Battery Ground Cable, Disconnect and Connect" in Group "N".

Remove lower right wheel well panelling.

Remove ribbed V�belt tension roller - see operation "Ribbed V�Belt Tension Roller, Remove and Install".

Detach the heat shield (1) from the rear exhaust pipe. Disconnect wiring harness plugs from both oxygen sensors and remove rear exhaust pipe.

Disconnect cable connections (arrows) from alternator.

On vehicles with left�hand drive, remove fastening nut of right�hand tie rod (1). Push tie rod off steering knuckle using KM�507�C.

On RHD vehicles remove axle shaft on right�hand side - see operation "Axle Shaft, Remove and Install" in Group "E".

Detach cold air port (2) from engine transport shackle and from alternator.

Remove retaining bolts (3) and (4).

Dismount alternator from mountings and remove (on vehicles with left�hand drive, guide alternator between tie rod and axle shaft).

Install alternator in mountings (on vehicles with left�hand drive, guide alternator between tie rod and axle shaft).

Fasten alternator to cylinder block and oil pump - 35 Nm.

Connect cold air port to alternator and attach to engine transport shackle - on RHD vehicles ensure that hose to brake servo runs in recess of cold air port.

Attach cable connections to alternator.

On RHD vehicles install axle shaft on right side - see operation "Axle Shaft, Remove and Install" in Group "E".

On LHD vehicles attach right�hand tie rod to steering knuckle - use new retaining nut - 30 Nm + 115�.

Install rear exhaust pipe with new gaskets and attach heat shield to rear exhaust pipe - 30 Nm. Connect wiring harness plug of both oxygen sensors.

Install ribbed V�belt tension roller - see operation "Ribbed V�Belt Tension Roller, Remove and Install".

Install lower right wheel well panelling.

Connect negative lead to battery - see operation "Battery Ground Cable, Disconnect and Connect" in Group "N".
