Maintenance
The OPEL/VAUXHALL ABS (anti- lock brake system) is maintenance - free and is not subject to the Opel/Vauxhall Inspection System.
General Instructions
The following points must be observed when carrying out operations on vehicles with ABS:
- When carrying out electrical welding work, the plug must be removed from the electronic control unit.
- During painting operations, the electronic control unit may be exposed for a short term to a maximum temperature of 95° Cl 203° F, long term - approx. 2 hours - to a maximum of 85° C/185° F.
After replacing the hydraulic modulator, the electronic control unit, a wheel speed sensor or the wiring harness, or after operations which involve ABS aggregates (e.g. accident repairs), the complete ABS must be tested using Opel/Vauxhall Universal Checking Adapter KM - 566 - 1, Opel/Vauxhall Checking Cable KM - 566 - 2 or KM - 566 - 11 and Multimeter MKM - 587 - A.

- After operations on the brake system, it must be bled and a pressure test be carried out.

- Check all connections for leaks.
- Ensure secure connections at the battery terminals.
- Never use a battery booster to start the vehicle.
- Ensure that all connections to the wiring harness are secure.
- Never connect/disconnect the multiple plug to/from the electronic control unit with the ignition switched on.
