System Description
The navigation system visually conveys the travel instructions in the GraphicInfoDisplay. In addition, announcements in the form of navigation messages are relayed to the driver via the loudspeakers at the front of the vehicle.
It is possible to use the navigation system and listen to an audio CD simultaneously if using the NCDR 2011. When you leave the area which was imported for the route you entered, you are instructed to insert the navigation CD. Once the navigation CD has been imported, it can be replaced with the audio CD again.
The antitheft protection of the new navigation system generally differs from the known principle for audio appliances. Previously, each radio device and the CD changer had their own codes that had to be entered after the supply voltage is reconnected to enable the device to operate.
In the new navigation system, this is changed to the principle known from the immobiliser:
The GraphicInfoDisplay and the control unit are married together just before they leave the factory and this activates the antitheft protection. In other words, each of these components knows the other navigation component of the specific vehicle. The entire system only functions in this configuration. If a navigation component in one vehicle is replaced by a navigation component from a different vehicle without authorisation, the system will no longer function.
