In the system main menu, press key F7. Follow the instructions in the TECH 1 display.

Proceed with extreme care when the type of airbag system installed in the vehicle is requested. Selection is made using the arrow keys. Confirm with the ENTER key.

If an airbag system with one deployment circuit (driver's airbag only) is installed in the vehicle, select DRIVER.

If an airbag system with two deployment circuits (driver and passenger airbags) is installed in the vehicle, select CODRIVER.

If an incorrect selection is made at this point, the control unit may not allow itself to be further programmed.

After selection of the airbag system, programming of the control unit begins, which lasts approx. 35 seconds.

If the display on the right appears after completion, programming was successful.

After programming, switch the ignition off and on again once.To be on the safe side, read out the trouble codes again.Trouble code 51 should no longer be stored.

If the display on the right appears after completion, a fault has occurred during programming. Carry out the following measures consecutively:

Carry out programming again;

Carry out TECH 1 self-test;

Check TECH 1 cable for damaged insulation and shielding;

Carry out programming with a new airbag control unit;

If the display on the right appears after completion, a fault has occurred during programming. If the YES key is now pressed, the TECH 1 will display the trouble codes stored in the control unit. The following lists the possible sources of the fault:

Trouble codes 51 and 34:

During system selection, DRIVER was selected, although a system with two deployment circuits (driver and passenger airbags) is installed in the vehicle

- reprogram

or

The selection (DRIVER, one deployment circuit installed in vehicle) was correct, but the control unit has registered a resistance lower than 150 W between Ter. 5 and 6 - eliminate fault according to trouble code table

(trouble code 34) and then reprogram;

Trouble codes 51 and 33:

During system selection, CODRIVER was selected, although a system with only one deployment circuits (driver's airbag only) is installed in the vehicle - reprogram

or

The selection (CODRIVER, two deployment circuits installed in vehicle) was correct, but the control unit has registered a resistance greater than 5 W between Ter. 5 and 6 - eliminate fault according to trouble code table (trouble code 33) and then reprogram;

Trouble code 51 and other trouble codes,

except 33 and 34:

There is a fault in the system that handicaps

programming. Eliminate fault according to trouble code table or Data List and then reprogram.
