System Description
The Entertainment Head Unit (EHU) in the centre console is used as the main unit for the infotainment functions, and communicates with all of the infotainment system components via the Medium Speed CAN bus (MSCAN bus).
The Antara for MY 2007 has two available infotainment systems. The CD 30 MP3 system is supplied as the base unit for the vehicle, while the DVD 100 NAVI system is optionally available. The state-of-the-art systems incorporate easy to use controls on the EHU, remote operation controls on the steering wheel, and utilize user-friendly, menu structured display systems.

Audio Functions
The Radio Data System (RDS) is now a standard function on all high level infotainment systems and is incorporated into the CD 30 MP3 and DVD 100 NAVI systems. The RDS system is able to locate the best transmitter frequency of the desired FM channel and guarantee interference free reception.
The integrated CD/MP3 player allows the systems to be used with standard audio CD's and CD-R's containing MP3 data. The MP3 data disc facility permits approximately 10 times more audio tracks per CD-R than a conventional audio CD, thus, eliminating the requirement for a CD changer.
A roof antenna with integrated GSM (Global System for Mobile communications) facility for mobile phones is supplied as the base unit for the vehicle. Optionally available is the GSM and GPS (Global Positioning System) antenna used for navigation purposes.
The DVD 100 NAVI system is equipped with a an integrated GPS module and supplied with DVD road map for 21 European countries. The global positioning of the vehicle can be given within a range of 10 metres (33 feet). The system offers a dynamic route navigation display complete with voice over guidance.
The systems are equipped with a 7 speaker system as standard. The layout of the 7 speakers is designed to offer the vehicle occupants the best possible sound reproduction. The speakers are mounted on the front doors, the rear deck sills, both sides of the instrument panel, and a single speaker mounted in the top of the instrument panel.
To compensate for the raised noise in the passenger compartment when the vehicle speed increases, the infotainment systems are equipped with a speed-dependent volume control. This facility allows the system to increase the volume as the vehicle speed increases.
