Floor shift
- Remove negative battery terminal. Refer to " «REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-396283-S05765208412011050400000) ".
- Remove A/T finisher. Refer to " «REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-396292-S27406778432011050400000) ".
- Disconnect A/T shift selector harness connector.
- Disconnect selector control cable.
- Remove A/T shift selector assembly.

- Remove the steering column. Refer to " «REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-396298-S16159099052011050400000) ".
- Remove the A/T cable clip lock plate and remove the cable from column shifter pin.
- Remove the column shift control.
Note. Following procedure will cover both column and floor shift selector levers.

- Place selector lever in "P" position, and turn ignition switch ON (engine stop).
- Make sure selector lever can be shifted to other than "P" position when brake pedal is depressed. Also make sure selector lever can be shifted from "P" position only when brake pedal is depressed.
- Move the selector lever and check for excessive effort, sticking, noise or rattle.
- Confirm the selector lever stops at each position with the feel of engagement when it is moved through all the positions. Check whether or not the actual position the selector lever is in matches the position shown in illustration by the shift position indicator and the transmission body.
- The method of operating the lever to individual positions correctly should be as shown in illustration.
- Confirm the back-up lamps illuminate only when lever is placed in the "R" position. Confirm the back-up lamps does not illuminate when selector lever is pushed against "R" position in the "P" or "N" position.
- Confirm the engine can only be started with the selector lever in the "P" and "N" positions.
- Make sure transmission is locked completely in "P" position.

| CAUTION | Install key interlock cable in such a way that it will not be damaged by sharp bends, twists or interference with adjacent parts. After installing key interlock cable to A/T shift selector, make sure that casing cap and bracket are firmly secured in their positions. If casing cap can be removed with an external load of less than 39 N (4.0 kg, 8.8 lb), replace key interlock cable with new one. |

- Unlock slider from adjuster holder by squeezing lock tabs.
- Remove casing cap from bracket of A/T shift selector assembly and remove interlock rod from adjuster holder.
- Remove holder from key cylinder and remove key interlock cable.
