- Drain engine coolant from the radiator.
- Remove air cleaner and air duct assembly. Refer to «AIR CLEANER AND AIR DUCT»(ref-163594-S35309392942004120700000) in ENGINE MECHANICAL - TITAN - 5.6L article.
- Disconnect A/T fluid cooler hoses. Install blind plug to avoid leakage of A/T fluid.
- Disconnect radiator upper and lower hoses from radiator.
- Remove the lower radiator shroud. Release the tabs, pull lower radiator shroud rearwards and down to remove. Remove the upper radiator shroud. Remove the A/C condenser bolts and brackets. Remove A/T oil cooler bolts and oil cooler and position aside. Lift up and remove the radiator.
| CAUTION | Do not damage or scratch air conditioner condenser and radiator core when removing. |
Installation
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
- Remove air duct. Refer to «AIR CLEANER AND AIR DUCT»(ref-163594-S35309392942004120700000) in ENGINE MECHANICAL - TITAN - 5.6L article.
- Remove the engine front undercover.
- Remove the radiator shroud (lower). Refer to «RADIATOR»(ref-169421-S19750326362004120800000) .
- Remove drive belts. Refer to «DRIVE BELTS»(ref-163594-S37532166452004120700000) in ENGINE MECHANICAL - TITAN - 5.6L.
- Remove cooling fan.
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
- Install cooling fan with its front mark "F" facing front of engine. see scheme 16

| CAUTION | When removing water pump, be careful not to get engine coolant on drive belt. Water pump can not be disassembled and should be replaced as a unit. |
- Drain engine coolant so that no engine coolant comes out from water pump fitting hole. CAUTION: Perform when the engine is cold.
- Remove following parts. Engine front undercover using power tool. Air duct (inlet); Refer to «AIR CLEANER AND AIR DUCT»(ref-163594-S35309392942004120700000) in ENGINE MECHANICAL - TITAN - 5.6L article.. Drive belt; Refer to «DRIVE BELTS»(ref-163594-S37532166452004120700000) in ENGINE MECHANICAL - TITAN - 5.6L article.. CAUTION: Leave auto tensioner pulley in its fixed position when removing drive belt.
- Remove water pump pulley.
- Remove water pump. Engine coolant will leak from the cylinder block, so have a receptacle ready below. CAUTION: Handle water pump vane so that it does not contact any other parts.

- Visually check that there is no significant dirt or rusting on the water pump body and vane.
- Make sure there is no looseness in the vane shaft, and that it turns smoothly when rotated by hand.
- If there are any unusual concerns, replace the water pump assembly.
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
Removal Of Thermostat
- Drain engine coolant from the radiator. CAUTION: Perform when engine is cold.
- Remove air duct (inlet). Refer to «AIR CLEANER AND AIR DUCT»(ref-163594-S35309392942004120700000) in ENGINE MECHANICAL - TITAN - 5.6L article..
- Remove engine room cover. Refer to «ENGINE ROOM COVER»(ref-163594-S12273651962004120700000) in ENGINE MECHANICAL - TITAN - 5.6L article..
- Disconnect water suction hose from water inlet.
- Remove water inlet and thermostat.
Removal Of Thermostat Housing, Water Outlet And Heater Pipe
- Remove Intake manifold. Refer to «INTAKE MANIFOLD»(ref-163594-S08315826862004120700000) in ENGINE MECHANICAL - TITAN - 5.6L article..
- Remove thermostat housing, water outlet and heater pipe.
Removal Of Water Cut Valve
- Drain engine coolant from the radiator. CAUTION: Perform when the engine is cold.
- Remove air duct (inlet). Refer to «AIR CLEANER AND AIR DUCT»(ref-163594-S35309392942004120700000) in ENGINE MECHANICAL - TITAN - 5.6L article..
- Remove engine room cover. Refer to «ENGINE ROOM COVER»(ref-163594-S12273651962004120700000) in ENGINE MECHANICAL - TITAN - 5.6L article..
- Disconnect heater hose (heater core side).
- Remove heater hose bracket.
- Remove vacuum tank.
- Remove water connector and water cut valve.

- Place a thread so that it is caught in the valves of the thermostat and water control valve. Immerse fully in a container filled with water. Heat while stirring (the example in the figure shows thermostat).
- The valve opening temperature is the temperature at which the valve opens and falls from the thread.
- Continue heating. Check the full-open lift amount. NOTE: The full-open lift amount standard temperature for the water control valve is the reference value.
- After checking the full-open lift amount, lower the water temperature and check the valve closing temperature.

- Install the thermostat with the whole circumference of each flange part fit securely inside the rubber ring. (The example in the figure shows the thermostat.)
- Install the thermostat with the jiggle valve facing upwards.
Installation Of Water Outlet Pipe And Heater Pipe
First apply a neutral detergent to the O-rings, then quickly insert the insertion parts of the water outlet pipe and heater pipe into the installation holes.
