REMOVAL
- Remove the glove box cover assembly. Refer to " «EXPLODED VIEW»(ref-405885-S19988295622011062300000) ".
- Disconnect AWD control unit harness connector.
- Remove AWD control unit (1) mounting bolts.
- Remove AWD control unit.

INSTALLATION
Install is the reverse order of removal.

- Remove the exhaust front tube. Refer to " «EXPLODED VIEW»(ref-405861-S15239320972011062300000) ".
- Remove the exhaust center tube. Refer to " «EXPLODED VIEW»(ref-405861-S15239320972011062300000) ".
- Separate the rear propeller shaft. Refer to " «EXPLODED VIEW»(ref-405869-S01756972202011062300000) ".
- Remove right side drive shaft and support bearing bracket. Refer to " «EXPLODED VIEW»(ref-405868-S23952762112011062300000) ".
- Remove the mounting bolts of transaxle assembly and transfer assembly. CAUTION: Never remove the mounting bolts (White arrows shown in illustration below) of adapter case.
- Remove transfer assembly from the vehicle.
| CAUTION | Never damage ring gear shaft. Never damage air breather hose. |
Note the following, and install in the reverse order of removal.
- Install mounting bolts according to the standard below when installing transfer assembly to the transaxle assembly. MOUNTING BOLTS REFERENCE CHART Bolt symbol A B Installation direction Transfer Transaxle Transaxle Transfer CAUTION: When installing transfer assembly to transaxle assembly, replace the side oil seal (transfer joint). Refer to " «AWD : EXPLODED VIEW»(ref-405866-S26287099632011062300000) ". Never damage side seal (the joint part of transfer) and dust cover of transaxle assembly.
- Check oil level and check for oil leakage after installation. Refer to " «INSPECTION»(ref-405886-S30431048442011062300000) ".

- Remove adapter case mounting bolts.
- Lightly tap adapter case with a plastic hammer to remove adapter case.
- Remove O-ring from adapter case.
- Remove adapter case oil seal with a screwdriver.
