DIFF LOCK indicator lamp does not turn ON for approx. 1 second when turning ignition switch to "ON" .

  1. CHECK SYSTEM FOR CAN COMMUNICATION LINE Perform self-diagnosis. Refer to " «SELF-DIAG RESULTS MODE»(ref-272368-S05639344702007111800000) ". Is "CAN COMM CIRCUIT" displayed? YES: Perform trouble diagnosis for CAN communication line. Refer to " «CAN COMMUNICATION LINE»(ref-272368-S25092136672007111800000) " NO: GO TO 2.
  2. CHECK DIFFERENTIAL LOCK CONTROL UNIT POWER SUPPLY Turn ignition switch OFF. Disconnect differential lock control unit harness connector. Check voltage between differential lock control unit harness connector terminals and ground. CONNECTOR TERMINAL VOLTAGE CHART Connector Terminal Voltage (Approx.) M70 1-Ground 0V 2-Ground 0V 15-Ground Battery voltage see scheme 194: Checking Voltage Between Differential Lock Control Unit Connector Terminals And Ground Turn ignition switch ON. (Do not start engine.) Check voltage between differential lock control unit harness connector terminals and ground. CONNECTOR TERMINAL VOLTAGE CHART Connector Terminal Voltage (Approx.) M70 1-Ground Battery voltage 2-Ground 15-Ground see scheme 195: Checking Voltage Between Differential Lock Control Unit Connector Terminals And Ground OK or NG OK: GO TO 3. NG: Check the following. If any items are damaged, repair or replace damaged parts. 10A fuse [No. 3 or 19, located in fuse block (J/B)] Harness for short or open between battery and differential lock control unit harness connector terminal 15 Harness for short or open between ignition switch and differential lock control unit harness connector terminals 1 and 2 Battery and ignition switch. Refer to " «POWER SUPPLY ROUTING CIRCUIT»(ref-272337-S41287445542007111800000) ".
  3. CHECK DIFFERENTIAL LOCK CONTROL UNIT GROUND CIRCUIT Turn ignition switch OFF. Check continuity between differential lock control unit harness connector M70 terminals 3, 10 and ground. Continuity should exist. Also check harness for short to ground and short to power. OK or NG OK: GO TO 4. NG: Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors. (Scheme 266): Checking Continuity Between Differential Lock Control Unit Connector Terminals 3,10 And Ground
  4. CHECK COMBINATION METER POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT Disconnect combination meter harness connector. Check voltage between combination meter harness connector terminal 16 and ground CONNECTOR TERMINAL VOLTAGE CHART Connector Terminal Voltage (Approx.) M24 16-Ground 0V see scheme 197: Checking Voltage Between Combination Meter Connector Terminal 16 And Ground Turn ignition switch ON. (Do not start engine.) Check voltage between combination meter harness connector terminal and ground. CONNECTOR TERMINAL VOLTAGE CHART Connector Terminal Voltage (Approx.) M24 16-Ground Battery voltage see scheme 198: Checking Voltage Between Combination Meter Connector Terminal 16 And Ground OK or NG OK: GO TO 5. NG: Check the following. If any items are damaged, repair or replace damaged parts. 10A fuse [No.14, located in the fuse block (J/B)] Harness for short or open between ignition switch and combination meter harness connector terminal 16. Ignition switch. Refer to " «POWER SUPPLY ROUTING CIRCUIT»(ref-272337-S41287445542007111800000) ".
  5. CHECK HARNESS BETWEEN DIFFERENTIAL LOCK CONTROL UNIT AND COMBINATION METER Turn ignition switch OFF. Check continuity between differential lock control unit harness connector M70 terminal 21 and combination meter harness connector M24 terminal 25. Continuity should exist. Also check harness for short to ground and short to power. OK or NG OK: GO TO 6. NG: Repair or replace damaged parts. see scheme 199: Checking Continuity Between Differential Lock Control Unit Connector Terminal 21 And Combination Meter Connector Terminal 25
  6. CHECK DIFF LOCK INDICATOR LAMP CIRCUIT Turn ignition switch OFF. Check combination meter. Refer to " «ARRANGEMENT OF COMBINATION METER»(ref-272357-S09698796162007111800000) ". OK or NG OK: GO TO 7. NG: Replace combination meter. Refer to " «INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSEMBLY»(ref-272364-S12603864392007111800000) ".
  7. CHECK SYMPTOM Check again. OK or NG OK: Inspection End. NG: GO TO 8.
  8. CHECK DIFFERENTIAL LOCK CONTROL UNIT Check differential lock control unit input/output signal. Refer to " «DIFFERENTIAL LOCK CONTROL UNIT INPUT/OUTPUT SIGNAL REFERENCE VALUES»(ref-272368-S11505845282007111800000) ". OK or NG OK: Inspection End. NG: Check differential lock control unit pin terminals for damage or loose connection with harness connector. If any items are damaged, repair or replace damaged parts.
