Automatic Transmission Shift Interlock System: Other Nissan Altima L30 рестайлинг

Automatic Trans 1 illustration ~736 words

SHIFT LOCK SYSTEM

Start vehicle and depress brake pedal. Move selector lever to desired position. Shift lock solenoid is not energized unless ASCD brake switch is operated by depressing brake pedal with ignition switch in ON position. If shift lock system does not operate as described, see SYMPTOM TESTS .

KEY LOCK SYSTEM

Insert key in ignition switch and turn to ACC or ON position. Selector lever can be moved once brake pedal is depressed. Move selector lever to Park position, then turn ignition switch to LOCK position and remove key. Shift interlock cable prevents ignition switch from being turned to LOCK position unless selector lever is in Park position. If key lock system does not operate as described, see SYMPTOM TESTS .

COMPONENT TESTS

Note. For circuit identification, see WIRING DIAGRAMS .

ASCD BRAKE SWITCH

Disconnect ASCD brake switch harness connector. Check for continuity between switch terminals. With brake pedal released, continuity should exist. With brake pedal depressed, continuity should not exist. If continuity is not as specified, ensure switch is properly adjusted. Replace as necessary.

DETENTION SWITCH

  1. Disconnect A/T device harness connector, located below selector lever housing. see scheme 7 Check for continuity between A/T device harness connector terminals No. 5 and 6. Continuity should only exist with selector lever in "P" position and selector lever button depressed or with selector lever in any position other than "P" position and selector lever button released.
  2. Check for continuity between A/T device harness connector terminals No. 5 and 7. Continuity should only exist with selector lever in "P" position and selector lever button depressed or with selector lever in any position other than "P" position and selector lever button released.

KEY LOCK SOLENOID

Apply fused battery voltage between key lock solenoid terminals. With voltage applied, solenoid should operate. Replace solenoid as necessary.

KEY SWITCH

Disconnect key switch harness connector. see scheme 9 Check for continuity between key switch harness connector terminals No. 3 and 4. With key inserted, continuity should exist. With key removed, continuity should not exist. If continuity is not as specified, ensure switch is properly adjusted. Replace as necessary.

PARK POSITION SWITCH

Disconnect park position switch harness connector. Check continuity between switch terminals. With selector lever in "P" position, continuity should exist. With selector lever in any other position, continuity should not exist.

SHIFT LOCK CONTROL UNIT

Using DVOM, backprobe Shift Lock Control Unit (SLCU) connector. Measure voltage between SLCU terminals. (Scheme 113)

SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID

Apply fused battery voltage between shift lock solenoid terminals. With voltage applied, solenoid should operate. Replace solenoid as necessary.

Disconnect stoplight switch harness connector. Check for continuity between switch terminals. With brake pedal released, continuity should exist. With brake pedal depressed, continuity should not exist. If continuity is not as specified, ensure switch is properly adjusted. Replace as necessary.

I30, Maxima & Q45

Disconnect stoplight switch harness connector. Check for continuity between switch terminals. With brake pedal released, continuity should not exist. With brake pedal depressed, continuity should exist. If continuity is not as specified, ensure switch is properly adjusted. Replace as necessary.

KEY INTERLOCK CABLE

Note. Ensure key interlock cable is installed without sharp bends, twists or interference with adjacent parts. Ensure casing cap and bracket are firmly secured. If casing cap can be removed with a load of less than 8.8 lbs (39.2 N), replace key interlock cable. see scheme 11
