INTRODUCTION

Sensor operating range information can help determine if a sensor is out of calibration. An out-of-calibration sensor may not set a trouble code, but it may cause driveability problems.

Note. Unless stated otherwise in test procedure, perform all voltage tests using a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM) with a minimum 10-megohm input impedance. For connector and terminal identification, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section.

INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR RESISTANCE

Motor Position Sensor

Measure sensor resistance between the specified terminals. See MOTOR POSITION SENSOR TEST TERMINALS table. With sensor connector unplugged, resistance should be 4000-6000 ohms. With Idle Speed Control (ISC) motor activated (6 volts applied between ISC connector terminals No. 1 and 2), resistance should change smoothly between 4000 and 6000 ohms.
