The Electronic Automatic Temperature Control (EATC) system is a cycling-clutch system which uses a fixed orifice tube to meter the flow of refrigerant. The system includes a self-diagnostic feature that stores fault codes when problems occurs. On vehicles equipped with an auxiliary A/C-heater system, the auxiliary unit is located inside right rear quarter panel.
TEST K: NO OPERATION IN SOME BLOWER SETTINGS, REAR BLOWER MOTOR
- Turn ignition on. Operate rear blower motor using both front and rear blower switches. If the same speed is inoperative using both switches, go to next step. If a rear blower motor switch (front) speed is inoperative, go to step 3 . If a rear blower motor switch (rear) speed is inoperative, go to step 4 .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect rear blower motor switch harness connector from front climate control panel. Disconnect rear blower motor switch harness connector from rear control panel. Disconnect rear blower motor resistor harness connector (located in right rear quarter panel). Measure resistance of Black/Yellow wire between terminal No. 1 of rear blower motor switch connector in front panel and terminal No. 4 of blower motor resistor harness connector. Measure resistance of Pink/Blue wire between terminal No. 5 of rear blower motor switch connector in front panel and terminal No. 3 of blower motor resistor harness connector. Measure resistance of Brown wire between terminal No. 6 of rear blower motor switch connector in front panel and terminal No. 1 of rear blower motor resistor connector. Measure resistance of Green wire between terminal No. 7 of rear blower motor switch connector in front panel and terminal No. 2 of blower motor resistor harness connector. If all resistances are 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If any resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair circuit(s) in question. Retest system.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect rear blower motor switch harness connector from front climate control panel. Disconnect rear blower motor switch harness connector from rear control panel. Disconnect rear blower motor resistor harness connector (located in right rear quarter panel). Measure resistance of Black/Yellow wire between terminal No. 1 of rear blower motor switch connector in front panel and terminal No. 4 of blower motor resistor harness connector. Measure resistance of Pink/Blue wire between terminal No. 5 of rear blower motor switch connector in front panel and terminal No. 3 of blower motor resistor harness connector. Measure resistance of Brown wire between terminal No. 6 of rear blower motor switch connector in front panel and terminal No. 1 of rear blower motor resistor connector. Measure resistance of Green wire between terminal No. 7 of rear blower motor switch connector in front panel and terminal No. 2 of blower motor resistor harness connector. If all resistances are 5 ohms or less, replace rear blower motor switch in front panel. Retest system. If any resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair circuit(s) in question. Retest system.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect rear blower motor switch harness connector from front climate control panel. Disconnect rear blower motor switch harness connector from rear control panel. Disconnect rear blower motor resistor harness connector (located in right rear quarter panel). Measure resistance of Black/Yellow wire between terminal No. 4 of rear blower motor switch connector in rear panel and terminal No. 4 of blower motor resistor harness connector. Measure resistance of Pink/Blue wire between terminal No. 2 of rear blower motor switch connector in rear panel and terminal No. 3 of blower motor resistor harness connector. Measure resistance of Brown wire between terminal No. 5 of rear blower motor switch connector in rear panel and terminal No. 1 of rear blower motor resistor connector. Measure resistance of Green wire between terminal No. 1 of rear blower motor switch connector in rear panel and terminal No. 2 of blower motor resistor harness connector. If all resistances are 5 ohms or less, replace rear blower motor switch in front panel. Retest system. If any resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair circuit(s) in question. Retest system.
TEST M: AUXILIARY CONTROLS ARE OPERATIONAL WITH FUNCTION SELECTOR OFF
Turn ignition on. Operate rear control panel rear blower motor switch. If switch operates, repair short to battery in Light Green/Black wire. Retest system. If switch does not operate, replace rear blower motor switch on rear control panel.
