REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
| CAUTION | When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery. |
Disconnect battery ground cable. Remove door trim panel screws. (Scheme 11) To release door trim panel two part pin-type retainers, first pull outward on bottom of the door trim panel. Remove door trim panel. Disconnect electrical connectors. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Disconnect negative battery cable. Locate Generic Electronic Module (GEM) behind left side of instrument panel, next to Central Junction Box (CJB). see scheme 1 Disconnect GEM all harness connectors. Release GEM locking tab. Slide GEM off mounting bracket. To install, reverse removal procedure.
Removal
- Raise window to full up position (if possible) and tape window in place. If window will not go up, support glass so it will not fall into door when motor is removed. Disconnect battery ground cable. Remove inner door trim panel and watershield. See «DOOR TRIM PANEL»(ref-63217-S28601923362003051400000) .
- Support regulator arm in fixed position to prevent counterbalance spring from unwinding when motor is removed. Remove 3 motor mounting screws and motor.
Installation
- Assemble power window drive motor to regulator assembly. Tighten motor-to-regulator bolts until snug (DO NOT fully tighten). Connect wiring to motor.
- Connect negative battery cable. Operate window to ensure proper gear engagement. Tighten motor-to-regulator bolts to 53-89 INCH lbs. (6-10 N.m). Install watershield and door trim panel.
Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove door trim panel. See DOOR TRIM PANEL . Disconnect electrical connectors. Carefully spread retaining clips and pull switch from switch plate. To install, reverse removal procedure.
