REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
| WARNING | Vehicle is equipped with Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system. When servicing vehicle, use care to avoid accidental air bag deployment. SIR system-related components are located in various locations throughout interior and exterior of vehicle, depending on application. Do not use electrical test equipment on or near these circuits. If necessary, deactivate SIR system before servicing components. See AIR BAG DEACTIVATION PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION. |
| CAUTION | When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery. |
- Raise and support vehicle. Remove dual converter "Y" pipe from exhaust system. Disconnect Output Shaft Speed (OSS) harness connector (1), from transaxle. Remove OSS shield (2). (Scheme 230)
- Remove retaining bolt and remove OSS from transaxle. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten OSS bolt to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-142070-S00329991602002071700000).

Disconnect negative battery cable. Place manual control lever in Neutral. Remove air cleaner and air cleaner outlet tube. Disconnect TR sensor harness connector. Remove manual control lever from transaxle. see scheme 13 Remove TR sensor retaining bolts and remove sensor. To install, reverse removal procedure. Align TR sensor. See TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR under ADJUSTMENTS. Tighten TR sensor retaining bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS.
Disconnect battery cables. Raise the vehicle on a hoist. Remove left front wheel and tire. Disconnect Turbine Shaft Speed (TSS), sensor harness connector. (Scheme 231) Remove retaining bolt and remove TSS sensor from transaxle. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten retaining bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS.
