Principles of Operation

The exterior mirrors are controlled by the exterior mirror control switch. The switch supplies power and ground to the selected exterior mirror motor in order to adjust the mirror to the desired position.

Normal Operation

The exterior mirror control switch receives power from circuit 956 (OG/LG) and ground from circuit 1205 (BK). The exterior mirror control switch controls the LH exterior mirror by switching power and ground to circuits 942 (RD/OG), 940 (DB/OG) and 945 (YE/BK) and for the RH exterior mirror by switching power and ground to circuits 944 (DG/OG), 943 (VT/OG) and 945 (YE/BK).

The exterior mirror control switch receives power from circuit 956 (OG/LG) and ground from circuit 1205 (BK). The exterior mirror control switch controls the LH exterior mirror by switching power and ground to circuits 942 (RD/OG), 940 (DB/OG) and 945 (YE/BK) and for the RH exterior mirror by switching power and ground to circuits 944 (DG/OG), 943 (VT/OG) and 945 (YE/BK)

The exterior mirror control switch receives 12 volts through circuit 956 (OG/LG) and ground from circuit 1205 (BK). The exterior mirror control switch controls the LH exterior mirror by switching power and ground to circuits 942 (RD/OG), 940 (DB/OG) and 945 (YE/BK) and for the RH exterior mirror by switching power and ground to circuits 944 (DG/OG), 943 (VT/OG) and 945 (YE/BK).

The exterior mirror control switch receives power from circuit 956 (OG/LG) and ground from circuit 1205 (BK). The exterior mirror control switch controls the LH exterior mirror by switching power and ground to circuits 942 (RD/OG), 940 (DB/OG) and 945 (YE/BK) and for the RH exterior mirror by switching power and ground to circuits 944 (DG/OG), 943 (VT/OG) and 945 (YE/BK)

The exterior mirror control switch receives power from circuit 956 (OG/LG) and ground from circuit 1205 (BK). The exterior mirror control switch controls the LH exterior mirror by switching power and ground to circuits 942 (RD/OG), 940 (DB/OG) and 945 (YE/BK) and for the RH exterior mirror by switching power and ground to circuits 944 (DG/OG), 943 (VT/OG) and 945 (YE/BK).

The auto-dimming mirror receives power from circuit 640 (RD/YE) and ground from circuit 1205 (BK). When the transmission is in REVERSE, the TR sensor signals the PCM the transmission range. The PCM sends a signal to the SJB over the SCP communication link, at which time the SJB sends a voltage through circuit 1367 (WH/YE) to the auto-dimming interior mirror, which turns the dimming feature off.

The memory exterior mirrors are controlled by the DSM. The exterior mirror control switch is supplied 12 volts through circuit 956 (OG/LG) and is grounded through circuit 1205 (BK). The exterior mirror control switch controls the LH exterior mirror by switching power and ground to the DSM through circuits 942 (RD/OG), 940 (DB/OG) and 945 (YE/BK) and for the RH exterior mirror by switching power and ground to the DSM through circuits 944 (DG/OG), 943 (VT/OG) and 945 (YE/BK). The DSM then applies power and ground to the LH exterior mirror through circuits 1487 (DB), 1486 (YE/LB), 1485 (RD), and 1484 (YE/RD) or on circuits 1483 (WH/PK), 1482 (PK), 1481 (DG) and 1480 (WH/LG) for the RH exterior mirror.

The memory exterior mirrors are controlled by the DSM. The memory switch is grounded through circuit 1205 (BK). When memory button 1 is pressed, circuit 267 (BN/LG) is grounded by the memory switch (or by the SJB if the remote keyless entry is used), which signals the DSM to adjust the exterior mirrors to the previously set position. When memory button 2 is pressed, circuit 268 (BK/OG) is grounded by the memory switch (or by the SJB if the remote keyless entry is used), which also signals the DSM to adjust the exterior mirrors to the previously set position. When the memory set button is pressed, circuit 270 (BN/OG) is grounded which signals the DSM to store the current exterior mirrors position to the next button (1 or 2) that is pressed (only if pressed within 5 seconds of the set button). Exterior mirror positions are monitored by the DSM through circuits 949 (RD/WH), 951 (DB/WH), 954 (DG/WH), 955 (GY), 957 (VT/WH) and 958 (GY/RD).

The heated mirror receives 12 volts on circuit 59 (DG/VT) from BEC fuse 53 (10A) and ground on circuit 1205 (BK). The heated exterior mirror is controlled by the heated back window control switch.
