Removal and Installation
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-234519) .
- Remove the wiper motor and pivot assembly. For additional information, refer to «WIPERS AND WASHERS»(ref-234530) .
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition coil.
- Disconnect the 6 spark plug wires from the ignition coil.
- Remove the 3 bolts and the ignition coil. To install, tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to «JACKING & LIFTING»(ref-234483) .
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-234519) .
- Remove the windshield wiper motor and wiper pivot arm. For additional information, refer to «WIPERS AND WASHERS»(ref-234530) .
- Disconnect the spark plug wires from the ignition coil.
- Detach the spark plug wire retainers.
- Using the special tool, remove the spark plug wire from the spark plug using a twisting motion.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Removal
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to «JACKING & LIFTING»(ref-234483) .
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-234519) .
- With a twisting motion, use the special tool to pull the 6 spark plug wires from the spark plugs.
- Use compressed air to remove any foreign material in the spark plug well before removing the spark plugs.
- Remove the 6 spark plugs.
Scheme 2
- Adjust the spark plug gap as necessary.
- Install the 6 spark plugs. Tighten to 15 Nm (11 lb-ft).
- Apply dielectric grease to the inside of the spark plug wire boots before attaching to the spark plugs.
- Connect the 6 spark plug wires to the spark plugs.
- Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-234519) .
