Removal & Installation (2.0L)
Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove air cleaner. Remove 2 upper starter bolts, noting location of negative battery cable at starter. Cut cable ties. Raise vehicle on hoist. Disconnect wiring from starter solenoid. Remove lower starter bolt. Remove starter. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
Removal & Installation (2.5L)
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove air cleaner and air cleaner bracket. Disconnect starter motor electrical connectors. Remove shift cable bracket bolts, and disconnect shift cable. CAUTION: In the following test step, ensure fuel pressure test adaptor relief valve is fully closed before installing tool.
- Remove starter motor support bracket nuts and bolt. Remove bracket. Remove fuel line Shrader valve cap. Using fuel pressure Test Adaptor (310-042), relieve fuel pressure. Using Spring Lock Disconnect Tool (310-D005 or 310-D004), disconnect fuel supply line. Remove 2 starter mounting bolts. Remove starter motor. To install, reverse removal procedure.
