With the front dome lamp (N70e1) and rear interior lamp (E15/3) the following versions are available

  1. Front lamp "Classic version (without ATA)" with the front dome lamp (N70e1). This is integrated into the overhead control panel control unit (N70) and can be switched on and off manually via the dome lamp ON and OFF switch (N70s4).
  2. Front lamp "Elegance/Avantgarde and Classic with ATA version" with additional light ring (N70e4); this is integrated into the overhead control panel control unit (N70) and comprises LEDs, their brightness being set as a function of the dimming of the instrument cluster (A1). It is switched on and off via terminal 58d.
  3. Rear lamp "Classic version (without ATA)" with the dome lamp (E15/3e3); it is switched on and off via the rear dome lamp switch (N70s2) in the overhead control panel control unit (N70).
  4. Rear lamp "Elegance/Avantgarde and Classic with ATA version" with additional light ring (E15/3e4); this is integrated into the rear interior lamp (E15/3) and comprises LEDs, with it being possible to adjust their brightness via the dome lamp dimmer button (+) (E15/3s4) and the dome lamp dimmer button (-) (E15/3s5).

In addition to the switch lighting, the following lights are also part of the switch and controls illumination

The brightness of the switch and controls illumination is dependent on the setting of the instrument illumination dimmer and reset button (A1r1) of the instrument cluster (A1)

Switching switch and controls illumination on/off, function - GF82.20-P-1003T

The switch and controls illumination makes it easier to find the individual control panels, storage facilities and switches.

The switch and controls illumination is activated via the exterior lamp switch (S1) by manually switching on the parking or driving light, or automatically if "night" was recognized via the rain/light sensor (B38/2) and the instrument cluster (A1). The function of automatic driving light must be activated.

The following are switched on or off under the same conditions

  1. Left rear ashtray illumination (E9/8)
  2. Right rear ashtray illumination (E9/9)
  3. Illumination (R3e1)
  4. Right front footwell lamp (E17/15)
  5. Left front footwell lamp (E17/16)
  6. Right rear footwell lamp (E17/17)
  7. Left rear footwell lamp (E17/18)

Switching off is effected immediately after taking back the requirements stated or in the event of undervoltage or overvoltage.

Actuation of the remaining lamps

This is performed via the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2), as soon as it receives the CAN message Duty cycle of terminal 58d > 5 % from the instrument cluster (A1).

Dimming of symbol lighting

When the standing lamp is switched on, the symbol lighting also remains switched on permanently and is dimmable.

The function indicator lamps are not dimmable.

With the exception of illumination (R3e1), the illumination is provided by LEDs

Only the switch lighting can be dimmed. The setting is performed using the instrument lighting dimmer and reset button (A1r1).

The parking lamp has no influence on the symbol and function illumination

Function

If the anti-theft alarm system (ATA [EDW]) has triggered an alarm, the front dome lamp (N70e1) and the rear interior lamp (E15/3) are switched on without dimming.

If the alarm is canceled, the front dome lamp (N70e1) and the rear interior lamp (E15/3) are switched off again.

Actuation of interior lamps

In the event of an ATA alarm, the message "switch on interior lamp - ATA" is placed on the interior CAN by the rear SAM control unit (N10/2).

The overhead control panel control unit (N70) reads this message and actuates the front dome lamp (N70e1) and the rear interior lamp (E15/3).

When the luggage compartment is opened, the luggage compartment lamp (E18/1) is switched on together with the right trunk lamp (E18/4) and the left luggage compartment lamp (E18/5) via the trunk lid contact switch (S88/6). The trunk lid contact switch (S88/6) is read in via the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) and then switches on the luggage compartment lamp (E18/1), the right trunk lamp (E18/4) and left luggage compartment lamp (E18/5).

The rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) switches off the luggage compartment lamp (E18/1), right trunk lamp (E18/4) and left luggage compartment lamp (E18/5) immediately when the trunk lid contact switch (S88/6) is recognized as closed. If the trunk lid is open for more than 30 minutes, the luggage compartment lamps are switched off automatically.

Switching on the glove compartment illumination

The glove compartment illumination with switch (E13/2) is switched on via the switch integrated into the glove compartment illumination with switch (E13/2) when the glove compartment is opened.

The glove compartment illumination with switch (E13/2) is switched off by closing the glove compartment or automatically 15 minutes after the interior CAN has gone over to standby. This function is irrespective of the rain/light sensor (B38/2) status and door contact status.

Switching on again after automatic switch-off

If the glove compartment illumination with switch (E13/2) was switched off automatically after 15 minutes via the interior CAN, then it is only switched on again when the interior CAN has been activated, for example, by opening a door.

The following lamps are present for better illumination of the surrounding area when entering or exiting the vehicle

  1. Left front door entrance/exit lamp (E17/3)

  4. Right rear door entrance/exit lamp (E17/6)
  5. Left outside mirror ambient lamp (M21/1e1)

Function requirements

  1. Voltage not to high or too low

Function

By opening a vehicle door and when the CAN message "Night" is relayed to the overhead control panel control unit (N70) via the rain/light sensor (B38/2), or with remote door unlocking via the transmitter key (A8/1), the particular lamps are actuated via the

  1. Left front door control unit (N69/1)
  2. Right front door control unit (N69/2)
  3. Left rear door control unit (N69/3)
  4. Right rear door control unit (N69/4)

The status of the various door contact switches are read in by the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2). These are passed on as a CAN message via the interior CAN.

Switching the entrance/exit lamps on and off

If the corresponding vehicle door is closed.

If the vehicle door remains open for more than 5 minutes, the entrance/exit lamps are automatically switched off via the overhead control panel control unit (N70).

Switching on again after automatic switch-off

The duty cycle extends or renews itself, if a status change occurs at the door contact switches, "circuit 15 ON" is switched on via the electronic ignition switch control unit (N73), or the vehicle is locked or unlocked and as a result of the interior CAN being deactivated or activated.

The CAN message "night" is set in the event of a defect in the rain/light sensor (B38/2)

The entrance/exit lamps are independent of the adjustment of the automatic driving light actuation in the instrument cluster (A1)

The actuation of the footwell illumination and the door inside handle illumination depends on the overhead control panel control unit (N70).

The following lamps are actuated for the entrance/exit illumination

  1. left front door inside handle illumination (E17/11)
  2. right front door inside handle illumination (E17/12)
  3. Left rear door inside handle illumination (E17/13)
  4. right rear door inside handle illumination (E17/14)
  5. Right front footwell lamp (E17/15)
  6. Left front footwell lamp (E17/16)
  7. Right rear footwell lamp (E17/17)
  8. Left rear footwell lamp (E17/18)

The door inside handle illumination continues to be actuated as ambient illumination at a reduced output of 15 to 100 % in t = 1 s as a function of the rain/light sensor (B38/2) via the overhead control panel control unit (N70) and the door control units.

After the CAN message from the overhead control panel control unit (N70), the footwell illumination is switched off after a switch-on time of 10 minutes via the driver-side SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1).

Finding the inside door opener in darkness is facilitated by the

  1. Left front door inside handle illumination (E17/11)
  2. Right front door inside handle illumination (E17/12)

Function prerequisites

  1. By switching on "circuit 15R ON".
  2. By switching on the standing lamps or driving lamps automatically via the rain/light sensor (B38/2).
  3. By switching on the standing lamps or driving lamp manually with the rotary light switch (S1).
  4. No undervoltage or overvoltage present.

Function

The door control units receive, via the interior CAN, the message "Terminal 58d ON" and the message "Night" from the rain/light sensor (B38/2). The door inside handle illumination is switched on every second for 500 ms. This takes place irrespective of the instantaneous transfer of term. 58d.

The door inside handle illumination is switched off if

  1. "Terminal 58d OFF" and v > 10 km/h
  2. "Terminal 58d OFF" and OFF delay time of t = 5 min after "Terminal 58d OFF" has expired
  3. "Terminal 58d OFF" and at "Terminal 15C OFF" the vehicle is locked via radio/IR remote control or via a lock switch.

Longer activation of this function leads to a temporary static discoloration of the glass also without actuation of the low beam

The door inside handle illumination (light emitting diodes) cannot be regulated

Function

If the sun visor is folded up and has latched into the bearing, by opening the mirror cover via the particular left front vanity mirror illumination switch (S101) or the right front vanity mirror illumination switch (S102), the particular series-connected left front vanity mirror illumination (E14/6) or right front vanity mirror illumination (E14/7) is switched on.

The illumination is switched off by closing the respective mirror cover, or automatically after 30 minutes after the data bus rests to preserve the battery capacity (G1).

The left front vanity mirror illumination (E14/6) and right front vanity mirror illumination (E14/7) are supplied with voltage via the overhead control panel control unit (N70).

For the passengers in the front, the left reading lamp (A67e1) and the right reading lamp (A67e2) are integrated into the inside rearview mirror unit (A67).

For the passengers in the rear, the left reading lamp (E15/3e1) and the right reading lamp (E15/3e2) are integrated into the rear interior lamp (E15/3).

Switching on the front reading lamps

Via the left front reading lamp switch (N70s6) or the right front reading lamp switch (N70s7) in the overhead control panel control unit (N70) the corresponding reading lamp is switched on by being pressed.

Switching on the rear reading lamps

via the left reading lamp switch (E15/3s1) or the right reading lamp switch (E15/3s2) in the rear interior lamp (E15/3).

The reading lamps are switched off by renewed operation of the respective switch or automatically 30 minutes after the data bus rests to preserve the battery capacity (G1).

Switching on and off manually

Via the dome lamp ON and OFF switch (N70s4) in the overhead control panel control unit (N70), the front dome lamp (N70e1) is switched on dimmed.

Switching-off dimmed is effected by resetting this switch or to preserve the battery capacity automatically 30 minutes after the data bus rests.

Prerequisite for the 1st automatic function

  1. Automatic driving light actuation is switched on via the instrument cluster (A1).
  2. The door contact ON and OFF switch (N70s3) is switched on.
  3. The rain/light sensor (B38/2) has recognized "night".

Prerequisite for the 2nd automatic function

  1. Automatic driving light actuation is switched off via the instrument cluster (A1).
  2. The door contact ON and OFF switch (N70s3) is switched on.

If the lamp is switched on manually, no automatic functions can be carried out

Automatic functions for the dome lamp

  1. By opening a door, the front dome lamp (N70e1) is switched on dimmed.

Switching off is effected by "circuit 15 ON" dimmed and immediately after closing the last door or automatically 30 minutes after opening the last front door. Likewise switching off is effected by "circuit 15 OFF" dimmed after 8 seconds after closing the last door, or automatically 5 minutes after opening the last door.

If the vehicle is unlocked, the dome lamp is switched on dimmed. Switching-off is effected dimmed 30 seconds after unlocking. After removing the transmitter key (A8/1), the front dome lamp (N70e1) is switched on dimmed.

Switching off is effected automatically after the OFF delay time of the interior light adjusted in the instrument cluster (A1).

Provision for adjustment of the OFF delay time is from 0 to 20 seconds in a 5 second cycle.

If "circuit 15" is switched on while an automatic light function is active, then the dome lamp is automatically switched off dimmed. If there is a change to the requirements (position of door contact on/off switch or light sensor information) during an automatic function, this change is immediately taken into account

ATA alarm

In the event of an ATA alarm the lamp is switched on immediately without dimming.

Actuation

The lamp is actuated internally in the overhead control panel control unit (N70), in which the front dome lamp (N70e1) and the dome lamp ON and OFF switch (N70s4) are integrated.

The overhead control panel control unit (N70) receives the following information on this

  1. The brightness, the rain/light sensor (B38/2) is read in directly by the overhead control panel control unit (N70).
  2. The status of the left front door contact switch (S17/3) and right front door contact switch (S17/4); these are read in directly from the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) and passed on via the interior CAN.
  3. The adjusted OFF delay time of the interior light; it is passed on from the instrument cluster (A1) via the interior CAN to the overhead control panel control unit (N70).

If an undervoltage or overvoltage exists, the lamp is switched off immediately without dimming. As soon as the correct voltage is restored, the lamp is switched on without dimming

If an ATA alarm is triggered, the lamp is not switched off

Via the overhead control panel control unit (N70), the front dome lamp (N70e1) and the dome lamp (E15/3e3) for the rear occupants are actuated dimmed when switched on or off.

Switching off is effected automatically after the OFF delay time of the interior light adjusted in the instrument cluster (A1); the provision for adjustment of the OFF delay time is from 0 to 20 seconds in a 5 second cycle.

In the case of an ATA alarm, the lamps are switched on immediately without dimming. In the event of undervoltage or overvoltage the lamps are switched off immediately without dimming. When the correct voltage is restored, the lamps are switched on without dimming

The dimming described here only relates to the switching on and off characteristics. It must not be confused with the dimming of the switch illumination and the switch and controls illumination via "terminal 58d"

If, in the instrument cluster (A1), the driving light switch is set to automatic, for the interior lights some of the functions can be controlled depending on the brightness of the outside light.

The light function of the entrance/exit lamps is always controlled depending on the brightness

Function requirements

  1. No undervoltage or overvoltage is recognized.
  2. The door contact ON and OFF switch (N70s3) is in position "ON".
  3. The instrument cluster (A1) produces the CAN message "automatic driving light function On".

Function

The automatic light functions depend on the rain/light sensor (B38/2). Its signals are evaluated by the overhead control panel control unit (N70). Depending on the ambient brightness the rain/light sensor (B38/2) produces the CAN message "Night" or "Day". If there is a fault in the rain/light sensor (B38/2), the CAN message is set to "Night".

If the CAN message "Terminal 58d ON" is < 5 % of the day value, the following automatic light functions are blocked

  1. Exit lamps
  2. Interior lamps
  3. Make-up lamps

If the CAN message "Terminal 58d ON" is > 5 % of the night value, the automatic light functions of the lamps are executed and the lamps are switched on in the event of a switch-on request.

Also the final shutoff of exit lamps when the doors are open takes place via the CAN message "automatic driving light function "On". The lamps are thus switched off synchronously.

If the door contact ON and OFF switch (N70s3) is set to "OFF", the interior lights are not switched on.

The following applies to the door contacts and light information

  1. The lamps are switched on after the switch-on request via a door contact in the event of door contact ON and OFF switch (N70s3) "ON" and CAN message "Night" from the rain/light sensor (B38/2).

If, during an automatic light function, there is a change in the door contact status or light sensor information, this is taken into account and carried out immediately.

Terminal 58d is a pulse-width modulated signal, whose duty cycle can be set via the instrument illumination dimmer and reset button (A1r1) from 12 to 100 %, as soon as the CAN message "Switch on standing lamps" is active

If there is a fault in the rain/light sensor (B38/2), the entrance and exit lamps behave as if "night" were recognized. If an undervoltage or overvoltage exists, the exit lamps always remain switched off

Rear interior lamp, task - GF82.20-P-4111-02T

The rear interior lamp (E15/3) has the following tasks

  1. Control of the dome lamp (E15/3e3)
  2. Control of the left reading lamp (E15/3e1)
  3. Control of the right reading lamp (E15/3e2)
  4. Control of the light ring (E15/3e4) ambiance illumination, for Elegance, Avantgarde and Classic equipment with ATA

The following integral switches and buttons are read in

  1. Left reading lamp switch (E15/3s1)
  2. Right reading lamp switch (E15/3s2)
  3. Dome lamp dimmer button (+) (E15/3s4)
  4. Dome lamp dimmer button (-) (E15/3s5)

The rear interior lamp (E15/3) with code (882b) interior monitoring (for ATA only) assumes other tasks too

  1. Reading in of interior protection sensor (E15/3b2)
  2. Actuating of interior protection sensor motor (E15/3m1)

The rear interior lamp (E15/3) is switched on and off via the rear dome lamp switch (N70s2) in the overhead control panel control unit (N70).

In Model 211.6, depending on equipment and special body, the number and position of the interior lamps may vary
