Driver seat adjustment

The left front seat adjustment switch group (S91/2) can be used to move the driver seat to the desired position.

Front passenger seat adjustment

The right front seat adjustment switch group (S92/2) can be used on vehicles with code (242) Electrically adjustable front passenger seat with memory to move the front passenger seat to the desired position.

Save seat positions

The memory button 1, 2, 3 switch (S91/2s14) and memory switch (S91/2s9) can be used to store the set seat position for the driverside seat.

The key-specific storage (up to 30.5.05) can be activated or deactivated in the instrument cluster (A1).

For vehicles with code (242) Electrically adjustable front passenger seat with memory, the position of the front passenger seat can also be stored.

The front passenger seat positions are stored using the memory button 1, 2, 3 switch (S92/2s14) and the memory switch (S92/2s9).

The memory function can also be used to store the outside mirror and steering column position

To ensure that when the front passenger seat is moved back it does not bump against a folded down rear seat backrest, vehicles with electric seat adjustment are equipped with a "collision avoidance with rear seat" function.

Function requirements

1. Circuit 15R On or corresponding front door open (up to 31.5.07)

Function

The driver seat can be manually adjusted using the left front seat adjustment switch group (S91/2), the front passenger seat using the right front seat adjustment switch group (S92/2).

Switch actuation on example of driver seat

By pressing the seat fore/aft switch (S91/2s1) the driver seat can be moved forward or backward.

By pressing the seat rear raise/lower switch (S91/2s2) the rear seat height can be adjusted; using the seat front raise/lower switch (S91/2s3) the front seat height can be adjusted.

By pressing the head restraint raise/lower switch (S91/2s4) the head restraint can be moved up or down.

By pressing the backrest switch (S91/2s5) the backrest inclination can be adjusted.

An adjustment request using the left front seat adjustment switch group (S91/2) is forwarded by the left front door control unit (N69/1) via the Controller Area Network bus Class B (interior) (CAN-B) to the driver-side front seat adjustment control unit with memory (N32/1), which then activates the left front seat adjustment motor group with memory (M27) accordingly.

Function prerequisites

Function

If the rear seat backrest on the front passenger side is unlocked, the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) transmits a signal over the interior CAN to the passenger-side front seat adjustment control unit with memory (N32/2).

The seat fore/aft adjustment for the front passenger seat is moved to the 95 % position (150 mm from front stop).

If the seat fore/aft adjustment is in front of this position, then a backward adjustment can only be made up to this position.

If the rear seat backrest is locked again, the seat remains in its current position.

It is not automatically moved back to its default position.

If the rear seat backrest is locked again, the seat fore/aft adjustment is possible over the entire range of adjustment.

The "collision avoidance with rear seat" function is only possible for the front passenger seat

By pressing the left front seat adjustment switch group (S91/2) the adjustment requests are sent to the front seat adjustment control unit with memory and driver-side easy entry (N32/1), which accordingly actuates the front seat adjustment motor group with memory, left (M27).

The driver-side front seat adjustment control unit with memory (N32/1) is connected to the CAN interior. It registers signals (memory block number, state of the circuit) and states of the switch (front door contacts, seat adjustment switch).

The driver-side front seat adjustment control unit with memory (N32/1) controls the motor group front seat adjustment with memory, left (M27).

The driver-side front seat adjustment control unit with memory (N32/1) also controls the steering column adjustment motor group (M20).
