Removal and Installation
LH side
- Remove the air cleaner. See «AIR CLEANER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION -- 3.0L»(ref-348656-S06903233342009112700000) .
RH side
- Remove the upper intake manifold. See «UPPER INTAKE MANIFOLD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION -- 3.0L»(ref-348656-S21659212132009112700000) . NOTE: The upper intake manifold must be removed to access the RH spark plugs only.
Both sides
- Disconnect the ignition coil electrical connectors.
- Remove the bolts and the ignition coils. Tighten to 7 N.m {0.7 kgf.m, 62 in.lbf}. NOTE: When removing the ignition coil-on-plugs, a slight twisting motion will break the seal and ease removal.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure. Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the inside of the ignition coil boots before attaching to the spark plugs.
Scheme 14
- Remove the air cleaner. See «AIR CLEANER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION -- 3.0L»(ref-348656-S06903233342009112700000) .
- Remove the spark plugs. Tighten to 15 N.m {1.5 kgf.m, 133 in.lbf}. CAUTION: Only use hand tools when removing or installing the spark plugs, or damage can occur to the cylinder head or spark plug. NOTE: Use compressed air to remove any foreign material in the spark plug well prior to removing the spark plugs.
- Inspect the spark plugs. See «SPARK PLUG INSPECTION»(ref-373094-S07090659102010100600000) .
- To install, reverse the removal procedure. Adjust the gap as necessary.
