CONSOLE - OVERHEAD

The overhead console consists of the following components

  1. garage door opener compartment (without roof opening panel)
  2. lamp switch
  3. roof opening panel control switch (with roof opening panel)
  4. sun glass compartment
  5. map lamps

CONSOLE - FLOOR

The high series floor console consists of the following components

  1. arm rest
  2. floor console finish panel
  3. rear cup holders
  4. storage compartment

The low series floor console consists of the following components

  1. floor console front finish panel
  2. floor console rear finish panel

  1. Remove the floor console front finish panel. Remove the manual transaxle shifter knob by turning counterclockwise. Remove the floor console front finish panel.
  2. Remove the floor console rear finish panel. Apply the parking brake. Remove the floor console rear finish panel. Disconnect the electrical connector(s).
  3. Remove the floor console front bolts. NOTE: Position the seats forward to access the 2 rear bolts.
  4. Remove the two rear bolts and the floor console.
  5. Position the seats to the rear and disconnect the battery.
  6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Remove the floor console finish panel. Apply the parking brake. Remove the floor console finish panel.
  2. Remove the floor console front bolts.
  3. Remove the floor console. Remove the two rear bolts. Remove the floor console.
  4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

INSTRUMENT PANEL

The instrument panel consists of the following components

  1. glove compartment
  2. instrument cluster
  3. instrument cluster finish panel
  4. instrument panel cowl top cover
  5. instrument panel finish end panels
  6. instrument panel steering column cover
  7. utility compartment
  8. passenger-side air bag module

  1. Remove the driver-side air bag module. See «DRIVER AIR BAG MODULE»(ref-221939-S36536665932006022600000) .
  2. If removing the instrument panel, remove the floor console. See «CONSOLE - FLOOR»(ref-221990-S29091686212006022600000)
  3. Remove the two front door scuff plates. Remove the four pin-type retainers. Remove the two front door scuff plates.
  4. Remove the two A-pillar lower trim panels. Remove the two pin-type retainers. Remove the two A-pillar lower trim panels.
  5. Disconnect the electrical connectors located by the LH cowl.
  6. Position the hood latch release handle aside. Remove the bolts. Position the hood latch release handle aside.
  7. Remove the utility compartment. Remove the four pin-type retainers. Remove the utility compartment. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  8. Remove the instrument panel steering column cover. Release the upper clips and rotate the cover outward to release the lower pivot retainers.
  9. Remove the steering column lower cover. Remove the screws. Remove the steering column lower cover. NOTE: Adjust the linkage after installing the transaxle selector lever (automatic transaxle only). See «SELECTOR LEVER CABLE ADJUSTMENT»(ref-221910-S25789768902006022600000)
  10. If equipped, disconnect the shift cable. Disconnect the shift cable. Disconnect the shift cable from the retaining bracket.
  11. Remove the steering column coupler access cover.
  12. Disconnect the steering column coupler. Remove the steering column coupler bolt and nut. Disconnect the steering column coupler.
  13. Remove the cover panel. Remove the pin-type retainer. Release the retaining clip.
  14. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  15. Disconnect the climate control vacuum harness connector.
  16. Disconnect the in-line electrical connector.
  17. Remove the four instrument panel center brace bolts.
  18. Remove the passenger-side air bag module. See «PASSENGER AIR BAG MODULE»(ref-221939-S26220315812006022600000) .
  19. Disconnect the vacuum harness connector.
  20. Close the glove compartment. Press the release tabs inward while raising the glove compartment.
  21. Disconnect the electrical connectors at the blower motor.
  22. Disconnect the antenna cable in-line connector.
  23. Open the four A-pillar passenger assist handle covers.
  24. Remove the two A-pillar passenger assist handles. Remove the four bolts. Remove the two A-pillar passenger assist handles.
  25. Remove the two windshield side garnish moldings.
  26. Remove the instrument panel cowl top cover.
  27. Remove the instrument panel cowl top bolt.
  28. Remove the instrument cluster. See «INSTRUMENT CLUSTER»(ref-222003-S14149880892006022600000) .
  29. Disconnect the temperature control cable. See «TEMPERATURE BLEND DOOR CONTROL CABLE»(ref-221931-S04356523602006022600000) .
  30. Through the instrument cluster opening, remove the instrument panel nut.
  31. Remove the two instrument panel finish end panels.
  32. Remove the four instrument panel cowl side bolts. NOTE: This step requires an assistant.
  33. Remove the instrument panel.
  34. To install, reverse the removal procedure. If necessary, transfer components.

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, see «BATTERY DISCONNECT»(ref-221834-S42533501902006022600000) .
  2. Lower the glove compartment. Press the glove compartment release tabs inward while pulling downward on the glove compartment.
  3. Disconnect the climate control cable. Position the locator pin. Release the locking tab. Disconnect the climate control cable from the blend door shaft.
  4. Remove the instrument cluster finish panel. Remove the screws. Remove the instrument cluster finish pane and disconnect the electrical connectors.
  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
